You need to learn the" relaxation response" in times of stress and anxiety. This can be learnt in a step wise process only and with practice you can excel. Start with doing relaxation exercises like yoga and meditation. Also try breathing exercises for 15-20 minutes daily. Once you learn how to relax you will have to learn when to relax too. If you still find things difficult you might need help with some counselling and medications.

Dr. I am stammering too much. Does that stammering have treatment or operation. I really worried about it so much.

M.S. Counselling and Psychotherapy
Psychologist, Bangalore
You can consult a speech therapist for stammering. You need to observe, if you stammering is more in particular situations or do you stammer more while you are with some specific people. If it is so, then the stammering is more because of lack of confidence and because of fear of being judged by others. If the stammer was there even in the childhood, then may be you were scared of some people and there might have been performance anxiety and lack of self esteem. You may consult a counsellor who can help you in building up your self confidence. A systematic therapy will be of help. All the best.

My grand mother all sudden lost the clarity in her speech. She is not able to talk clearly life before, we got it checked from physician he said everything is okay, neurologist gave medicine and we get MRI done, report find some clot. Any one who is familiar with such cases please suggest the duration of treatment.

MD PHYSICIAN
General Physician, Delhi
The modality of treatment depends upon the location and size of clot. Anti coagulant medications are given and repeated MRI are done to see if the size of clot decreased or increased. And if size of clot is big and obstructing the blood flow. Surgery is performed in which a catheter is inserted to break down and remove the clot. Consult your treating doctor for the possible outcomes.

Swami ramdev reports patients have benefited by anulomvilom pranayama. You will have to close and open your son' nostrils with your hand. I hope if you do it there will be definite improvement. Otherwise, medicines are the last resort with little success so why not try pranayama that might benefit just as other mental health problems.

Breathe deeply and exhale on a hisssssssing sound. Repeat 10 times. Proper breathing is the foundation for a healthy voice AND control over nervous energy that can make the voice quiver. Say “Mm-mmm (as in yummy) Mmm-hmm (like yes) ” Repeat 5 times. This develops mask resonance, which creates a clean and vibrant sound by creating a clean approximation of the cords and a resonance that will sound great and project easily. Say “Mm-mmm. Mmm-hmm.” up and down your vocal range, from low to middle to high and back again, 10 times.

It all depends on the vocal cords anatomical position and I will suggest you to rehearse your music as per your normal voice and do normal gargling and avoid any unnecessary food items and don't strain your self much and it can also be possible that after slow rehearsal you can get the pitch you want but it would take extra time.

Hi Tanya, Thanks for writing in. Welcome to the forum. From what you are saying, there appears to be a very strong component of social anxiety. This can be handled with psychotherapy, medicines or both depending upon the exacts nature and severity of the symptoms. Public speaking courses and speech therapy are also likely to help with respect to the specific issue of stammering in public places. But with regard to the several other aspects of this problem, speaking to a mental health expert is a good idea. Take care!

The solution I am giving has a connotation of hinduism. Just ignore that and follow the rest of the program. After a course of 9-10 days your voice will improve. If it recurs repeat it. You may need maximum of three repeats to get permanent riddance. Keep a few months gap between two repeats.
