You brush your teeth every day; exercise is equally important for your daily routine. Turn off the tv or computer, and get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.

To work your heart, it's got to be aerobic exercise. You've got lots of options: walking, jogging, biking, rowing machine, elliptical machine, swimming. But don't feel like you have to be an athlete. Walking is great exercise. Get 10 minutes here and there during the day. It all counts.

Start with something simple, like parking in the far corner of the parking lot -- so you get those extra steps to the door. Take the stairs one or two flights instead of the elevator.

If you take public transportation, get off one stop early and walk the rest. Get out at lunch to walk. Or walk with your significant other or your spouse after work. You'll get a bonus relaxation and stress reduction.

A major cause of tooth sensitivity is root exposure.We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning along with desensitizing procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. Until then apply a desensitizing paste (sensodyne tooth paste) on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min until you brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight will be better. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Get a second opinion from the dental surgeon. Which stage of rct is he on? ent consultation is a must to rule out whether the sinuses are involved or not.

You look your best when you wear a smile on your face. Everyone prefers a smiling face over a frowned one. Since we are talking about smiles, one can never underestimate the role that teeth play in the beauty of a smile. Dental hygiene and care is mandatory if you wish to secure your beautiful smile for years to come.

However, the global statistics for dental care suggests that we do not care enough for our teeth. 60-90% of children who are in school and almost every adult suffer from dental cavities. Dental cavities are pretty common nowadays. And yellowing of teeth can now be seen in almost every other person. It spoils the smile and makes people conscious. By ensuring a few dental care habits in your daily routine lives, you can avoid yellow teeth.

Let us discuss the tips and tricks to avoid yellowing of teeth: 

  1. Say no to specific foods: Yellowing of teeth is caused by food choices including coffee, red wine, sodas, juices, sports drinks, white wine, coloured candies and other artificially coloured foods. It will help if these foods are consumed in less quantity and frequency as they are the major contributors towards discoloration of teeth.
  2. Water after every coloured drink: Here is a habit that you must inculcate in your routine, whenever you consume any of the above mentioned food items. Post every drink or food intake which can cause tooth-staining, top it up with a glass of water. When you swirl or gargle the water in your mouth, you remove the acids that get accumulated in your mouth. It is one of the simplest preventive measures one can implement to avoid tooth stains.
  3. Dental Hygiene: Our parents and dentists kept reminding us all the time to brush twice a day and gargle with water post every food intake but did we listen to them as kids? No we did not. Proper brushing, flossing and going for dental checkups at regular intervals are sure shot ways to keep your teeth healthy for majority of your lifetime. One must develop these habits quite early in life to gain benefits from it.
  4. Whiten those Yellow teeth:  You might be at that stage of your life where inculcating the above mentioned habits won't do much good. The damage might already have been done. Your teeth are probably yellowish already and you have a history of dental cavities. In this 21st century, there are ways to whiten your teeth artificially with the many alternatives available in the market. One can opt for a solution, which can be done at home itself or go for a laser whitening which is now possible at a dentist clinic. 

So there is still hope for those who are unable to share that smile with the world due to the yellowing of teeth. Nothing is irreparable here and the health of your teeth lies in your hand.

Drinking Soda

My tongue started with a yellow/white coating beginning at the back but not continuing half way down the front. It was difficult to swallow/spit saliva and my that mildly burnt. I continued brushing my tongue and now there's a large, red, raw patch down the back, middle. I am currently in India (consuming mire than normal chili/spices) and I am smoking and drinking quite a lot, I assume these will assist with a slight diagnosis? Thank you.

Hi from your complaint, the coating may be due to candidial infection. Because this is the one which goes off on scrapping leaving a raw area. Since this is in the posterior part of the tongue it would have spread to your throath making it difficult to swallow. This is one angle of viewing your problem. Other view is your throat would have been inflamed due to your habits and food making swallowing difficult. The raw area may be due to scrapping. Kindly conult your dentist as this problem has to be examined. Get well soon.

Hi, I had no pain but I visited to dentist for cleaning. She found that I have multiple caries and I am just 25. So I got fillings. I have 6 fillings mostly on molar and all are on molar biting surface. I read the prescription it was GIC restoration they cost me 500 per each fillings. I had no issue but I read about GIC and found that it's not strong for stress bearing area. I contacted back to dentist to ask how deep my fillings were and why they used GIC. Firstly the person who did had left the clinic but other Dr. Told me that it's 3M quality GIC and its durable and they did xray but fillings was not visible in xray. I don't know but since from that day I'm having high anxiety of loosing teeth or loosing fillings. It's been month but still my condition is same, can't sleep, not eating much. I request you to please share your experience how long do you think that GIC can stay, the fillings are on the biting surface middle covered with teeth wall. I'm maintaining my oral hygiene doing brushing, flossing and I've also stopped eating any sugary food. Please suggest doctor your answer and suggestion may help me to come out through my anxiety.

Hi. You do not have to worry, GIC can be used as filling material. When we compare strenght with anyother filling material GIC stands low which does not mean this can not be used. This may last average of 3 to 4 years. Take regular visit to your dentist to check status of your filling. If fillings are fractured you can get new fillings done on your same tooth only if your tooth is healthy. Thank you.

All filling doesn't require a cap, if RCT is done the you need it, I don't know what kind of filling you have it, so it's better to visit your nearby dentist and have a check up and get the dental expert opinion, I am sure mouth ulcer is not because of filling done to your teeth, let it be clear for you.

Get rid of whatever irritants or behaviors are causing the condition. Some of the things you might have to do include stopping certain habits, such as biting your cheeks or being overly aggressive in your oral hygiene. Make adjustments or changes to your orthodontic appliances (braces). It might also be necessary to repair or remove uneven teeth. Since some of the reasons for cheek biting might relate to emotional or psychological issues, you may also be advised to schedule an appointment with a counselor or psychiatrist to try to deal with the underlying issues behind the cheek biting. After this, you can follow up with your dentist to confirm whether the condition has improved.
