•Start by cleaning your skin using a special cleansing gel or oil. Do not use products that contain alcohol or acid since they can damage your skin further. Steam your face for about 10-15 minutes to open clogged pores. Add a few drops of basil or rosemary in the water for a rejuvenating effect. •Next, gently exfoliate your skin. Use a gentle face scrub of a known brand. You could even make your own natural scrub by combining ground sugar and a little milk! This process will help you remove dirt, dead cells, blackheads and whiteheads that block your skin. •The third step involves using a good toner that would close the open pores, thus diminishing their appearance. Along with closing pores, toners also help to remove soap residue and makeup, which often render a large appearance to the pores. •Finally, use a light moisturizer, preferably a water-based one that would reduce the oiliness of your skin.

I am suffering from Alopecia areata for almost 10 months. What should I do to cure it?
Its called indralupta in ayurveda. First we have to stop causative factors like improper diet acidity & gas more exposure to sun spicey sour n salty food to much curd day sleep lack of vitamins & other nutrients anger & stress due to previous illness here your medication is also one of reason etc. 1st try to avoid these factors use cow ghee & milk in diet avoid sour buttermilk & curd according to ayurveda, after vaata & pitta fall hair, kapha obstruct hair root. So main treatment is divided into 3 1) internal: internal medicine according to root causes 2) local: locally little irritation given. For that, use gunjadi tailam or malatyadi tailam 3) nasya: 2 drop of anutail oil in each nostrils in morning. I need details of your for better medication.

Hi hairs needs protein diet. Strand of hairs are made up of proteins thus proteins are essential for hair growth. Beside diet, factors such as stress, medical illness, dandruff & some medications are conclusively known to cause hair fall. Excessive use of shampoo, hair products, hair sprays, styling gels containing chemicals causes scalp n hairs to become dry. Exposure to pollution, dust, rains, sun makes hairs lustre less regular oiling and washing helps in maintaining a healthy scalp n hairs. Don't change your shampoo frequently, shampoos containing sulphur is one of the reason for hairfall. You can use arnica hair oil as it helps in preventing hair fall. Consume diet rich in proteins and antioxidants, have plenty of water and fruits. You can evrn apply brewed green tea water at the roots of the hairs n keep it overnight. You can also run onion sclices at the bald part, it will promote new hair growth.

I am 27 year old female married. My hair roots have become very week lately and having lots of hairfall. Please advice.

I am 27 year old female married. My hair roots have become very week lately and having lots of hairfall. Please advice.
It is normal to lose about 30-80 strands of hair in a day. The common reasons behind hair fall are lack of essential nutrients in the body, improper and unhealthy dietary habits, hormonal imbalance, certain medications, dandruff, alopecia and other scalp disorders, stress and tension etc. Natural oils such as coconut, olive, jojoba, almond etc. Can be used to massage the scalp for countering hair fall. Gently massage the scalp prior to head bath twice a week. Also check hemoglobin for anaemia and thyroid status with serum tsh. Have more proteins and trace minerals like copper, zinc, selenium in diet. Start taking a hair nutrition supplement. Keep stress away with regular exercise, yoga, meditation. Get the underlying scalp condition like dandruff treated.

I have got jock itch in the inner thighs. Tried betnovate-n, quadriderm but no success. It's itching a lot and skin has become rough. Please help, should I take any medicine?

MBBS, Diploma in Venerology & Dermatology (DVD)
Dermatologist, Delhi
Betbovate should never be applied in cases of jock itch .It is a strong steroid and may lead to serious side effects if had been used for longer time. You should stop applying the creams and use curitop powder instead. Visit a nearby dermatologist for a detailed prescription upon proper examination.

You may eat every thing which you like or desire for. But seasonal fruits and vegetables are much better and useful to skin. Early to bed and early to rise with regular exercise is for healthy skin as well as whole.

This all natural honey lemon mask is great for all skin types including sensitive skin. I have used it twice so far and I am really liking the results! so of course I had to share! benefits of the honey lemon mask: - clears acne - gentle cleansing agent - dries out pimple - minimizes pore size - smooths skin - reduces redness and instantly soothes irritation - makes skin glow - relieves dryness and even flaking - honey is a humectant so it hydrates skin - brightens skin - evens out skin tone (due to sun damage or blemishes) and helps scarring - the bacteria cannot live in an environment covered in honey; due to honeys antiseptic qualities ingredients: - 1/2 of a real lemon or a few drops of lemon oil (it has the same effect) - 2 teaspoons of honey (manuka honey has higher antibacterial properties, but regular honey is fine too). Directions: squeeze 1/2 of the lemon into a bowl, mix in honey and stir until its like cough syrup. Apply mask to freshly cleansed face, make sure you don? t exfoliate your skin before adding this mask because the lemon juice can make it sting. Let the mask sit for about 20 minutes, and try not to talk. Rinse off with cold water (helps close pores) and pat dry your face. You can do this every morning or every night. Apply a good moisturizer afterwards. Give it some time to see results. Is it real mask? we can apply r not?

How to make hair thick and longer in just two weeks? I have huge hair loss. How to prevent it?
Your hair needs a high protein well-rounded diet. A strand of hair is composed of mostly protein, which means your hair needs protein to grow. Hair and nails are both protein fibers. Hence a therapeutic diet prescribed by a registered dietitian can help a lot in hair growth. Besides diet excessive stress, current/past dandruff and some medication are conclusively known to retard hair growth and promote hair loss. - cut down on the use of hair spray, hair gels, and styling creams that contain harsh chemical ingredients, which can dry out the scalp and cause the formation of flakes. Also harsh treatments such as perms, colours, relaxers etc take a toll on the health of your hair. - avoid changing your shampoo and conditioner constantly. Stick to one good mild cleansing shampoo for six months before changing. - excessive exposure to the sun, pollution, rain water and dust without proper protection makes the hair dry, brittle and limp. Use a live in conditioner during the rains to protect it from the humidity and wash and oil it regularly to maintain a healthy scalp. I may also prescribe medications like biotin or minox. That are proven to help in hairgrowth and repair I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

Is your hair loss accompanied with greying of hair and have they become very thin? your hair needs a very high protein well-rounded diet. Hair and nails are the last organs to get nutrition in the body, hence only if all the organs get sufficient nutrition and proteins, only then the remaining nutrition would be used for hairs. A strand of hair is composed of mostly protein, which means your hair needs protein to grow. Hence a therapeutic diet prescribed by a registered dietitian can help a lot in hair growth.
