Advice hot fomentation. Gentle stretching of hand muscles. Ball exercises. Wrist exerciser. Regular stretching of shoulder muscles. Warm up and cool down is a must.

Hello lybrate user, get her x-ray of the knee joint in standing weight bearing position in anteroposterior and lateral projections. Mostly it is has osteoarthritis of the knee joint wherein the articular cartilage of the joint gets progressively degenerative. Common in old age and indian population use knee caps regular exercise hot water bag some natural medicines x-ray and her level of discomfort will dictate the management plan. God bless you.

I have pain in my lower back 2 inches left to backbone, feels sharp pain like needle stings not severe yet bearable. Cause is prolonged sitting on chair in front of PC at work. If I spend day with walking and less sitting then it is normal. As I sit on chair pain starts and keep on increasing. I got x ray but it was normal. Should I take tablets like neuroprene, calcium with regular exercise to strength en my muscles. Regards gagan.

Hi Your problem is one related to posture issues. Generally prolonged sitting in one position creates tiredness and sometimes spasms of that group of muscles resulting in discomfort and many times severe pain. Following measures should be taken:- 1. Don't sit continuously for more than one hour. Take a short break and walk as it will help the muscles relax. 2. Exercise daily for at least 30 minutes focusing 10 minutes specifically for back muscles. 3. Meditate daily preferably in an open area as it will help you relax in general and the fresh oxygen will help the muscles to get rid of lactic acid produced which causes tiredness. 4. Sit straight and always take back support. Don't lean towards sides as it causes extra strain on a particular group of muscles. Your problem is exactly because of this. Taking supplements might help but not for long as in your age considering your height and weight you seems to be fit. 5. For immediate solution take Rhus. tox. 30 thrice daily for two days. If the pain still persist after medicine then feel free to contact through Lybrate.

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Ankle stretching. Ankle strengthening exercises. Avoid squatting. Quadriceps exercises. Core strenthening exercises. Stretch calves get a custom made insole. Hams stretching. Sports taping. Hot fomentation.

I am undergoing through joint pain (Arthritis) I consulted many doctors for it but all in vain. My pain still persists. Do I have to undergo an operation and what is Navigation machine associated with Operation? What difference does it makes if it is not operated by Navigation machine?

Is your age 22 years only? there are very very few indications for knee replacement at 22 years. Navigation machine associated operation is kind of surgery in which machine helps to decide bone cuts. Most important step in knee replacement surgery is ligament balancing. It is surgeons skill to perform surgery. Some surgeons prefer to use navigation system, some surgeons prefer to use conventional instruments and skills. Even navigation system may fail if not properly done and vice versa is possible. So surgeon should be well trained in performing surgery. Then it doesn't matter whether navigation system is used or not. I have seen navigation systems just lying inside operation theater and surgeon preferring conventional methods.

We need to examine her and knees skiagram also.Be carefull and prevent bad fall as it can fracture extermities.Use walker for ambulartion till u see us. For knee pain at least start doing Quadriceps exercise and avoid squatting,kneeling,cross leg sitting. Dr Kamal Bachani.

Requires detailed investigation and examination. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

Apply pranacharya restopain oil or prasarini oil on your affected part then give hot fomentation. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. And agni tundi vati and maha yograj guggul 1-1 tab twice a day.

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

I have an issue for my mother whenever she eats she suffers from pain in the left hand side of the body and it pains a lot for 10 mins to 15 mins at least. It starts from the waist of left side and continue on the left hand with left shoulder. Quadriceps strengthening exercises- Quad Clenches: Lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, Hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short Arcs: Lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight Leg Raise: Lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise. Hamstring stretching Towel Hamstring Stretch Lie on the back, supporting the thigh with the hand or with a towel wrapped around it.. Slowly straighten the knee until a stretch is felt in the back of the thigh, trying to get the bottom of the foot to face the ceiling, one leg at a time. Hold the position initially for 10 seconds, and gradually work up to 20 to 30 seconds. Seated Hamstring Stretch While sitting at the edge of a chair, straighten one leg in front of the body with the heel on the floor. Then, sit up straight and try pushing the navel towards the thigh without leaning the trunk of the body forwards. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds Repeat 3 times for each leg.

Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.
