MBBS, Diploma in Child Health (DCH), Pediatric Gastroenterology

SIr ,for a three and half year child who does not have any skin problem, no specific soap is recommended. You could use any soft soap. Brands such as pigeon are very expensive and need not be used.

Hi, I've a 5 month baby. I think that my breast milk supply is not enough for my baby. So I want to know how I can increase my breast milk supply. Means what food I should take or anything else to increase breast milk?

DGO, MD, MRCOG, CCST, Accredation in Colposcopy
Gynaecologist, Kolkata
There are no such medications I am afraid. However you can try reglan tablet 10mg thrice daily for 5 days and see if this helps. This is an antiemetic and is not used for this purpose ; though a few of my patients have benefitted.

My nephew is 8 year old and he is diagnosed with Autism. He was diagnosed at the age of 3 years. At that time he was not able to stand on his own, avoids eye contacts, irritates and bites his own hand. He is now getting treatment from a Hakim in Muradnagar, Ghaziabad from last 3 years. He is now able to walk on his own but not able to speak or behave normally. He still bites his hand very often in anger. He wants to be alone but likes her parents company, now responds to her parents when they call him. Please help, if somebody knows the medicine or treatment of Autism.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Early diagnosis and treatment helps young children with autism develop to their full potential. The primary goal of treatment is to improve the overall ability of the child to function. Symptoms and behaviors of autism can combine in many ways and vary in severity. Also, individual symptoms and behaviors often change over time. For these reasons, treatment strategies are tailored to individual needs and available family resources. But in general children with autism respond best to highly structured and specialized treatment. A program that addresses helping parents and improving communication, social, behavioral, adaptive, and learning aspects of a child's life will be most successful. The american academy of pediatrics (aap) recommends the following strategies for helping a child to improve overall function and reach his or her potential: 6 behavioral training and managementbehavioral training and management. Behavioral training and management uses positive reinforcement, self-help, and social skills training to improve behavior and communication. Many types of treatments have been developed, including applied behavioral analysis (aba), treatment and education of autistic and related communication handicapped children (teacch), and sensory integration. Specialized therapies. These include speech, occupational, and physical therapy. These therapies are important components of managing autism and should all be included in various aspects of the child's treatment program. Speech therapy can help a child with autism improve language and social skills to communicate more effectively. Occupational and physical therapy can help improve any deficiencies in coordination and motor skills. Occupational therapy may also help a child with autism to learn to process information from the senses (sight, sound, hearing, touch, and smell) in more manageable ways. Medicinesmedicines. Medicines are most commonly used to treat related conditions and problem behaviors, including depression, anxiety, hyperactivity, and obsessive-compulsive behaviors. Lt eye discharge may be due to blocked of eye canal connecting eye to nose. Consult eye specialist who can suggest line of tt, if it can be treated with simple massage over nose or with some other procedure.

Get stool routine examination done. If there is no blood or mucous, no severe pain in abdomen, no fever then you can wait without any medication but for ors. If she is active passing urine, taking meals nothing to worry.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Some children are late. But, before concluding anything you do her blood cbc, tft and inform me. Meanwhile you try to make her speak, (speech therapy by yourself) and I need her birth & development (like when she turned over and smiles, started telling baa baa) weight at birth and now head circumference and birth history (normal, caesarean and if baby kept in incubator, feed given now) to give a scientific advice. All details and you can remain in touch with me personally to be your private doctor if you wish!

I have a breastfeeding problem. My son not get milk. Milk quantity was very low what I do.

MBBS, MD

You should take normal healthy home made food. Feed the child more frequentally if child is less than 5 months. Drugs may be helpful in some ladies in beginning, drugs like perinorm increases output.

Warm saline gargle, lukewarm water to drink and saline nasal drops to instill in each nostrils, if nostrils are block, are safest. Usually cold passes away in 4-6 days.

In a 3 month old these are just normal and you take care to keep the area clean and distract her. She will just put anything in mouth and suck.
