I understand that you are troubled because of your weight, and have problems climbing stairs Usually, such excessive weight is not due to overeating but due to some unknown factor, which science to is not well aware of. In your case, bariatric surgery can be a big help. Please do consider it Exercise and diet alone often fail to effectively treat people with extreme and excessive obesity. Bariatric surgery is an operation that is performed in order to help such individuals lose weight. Evidence suggests that bariatric surgery may lower death rates for patients with severe obesity, especially when coupled with healthy eating and lifestyle changes after surgery.

first thing is to take thyroxine tablets in the prescribed dosage every day with out fail. Then exercise regularly so that weight is maintained. Avoid soya containing foods, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, mustard and coffee. Use whole grain flour for making breads (rotis), take good amount of green vegetables (other than those mentioned), fruits, onions and garlic. If your hemoglobin is normal and your monthly cycles are normal then there should not be any difficulty in having a baby. Consult your gynecologist.

Hi, my age 27, married last year, recently I took thyroid test result is tsh 7.64.she suggested thyronorm 12.5. I could you please suggest me the diet plan and how frequent I took thyroid test. Is this thyroid will effect the conception?

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Usually at TSH level of 7.64 mU/L no treatment is advised, unless one has any of those troublesome symptoms of hypothyroidism. If one is on treatment then TSH should be maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L. There is no specific diet for hypothyroidism. Only thing is you should avoid soy beans and soy containing products. Consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Always use whole grain flour for chapati and roti. Avoid foods made of maida and bakery items. Thanks.

Diabetic Diet Myths and Facts

Post Graduate Diploma in Holistic Healthcare, PG Diploma Clinical research, Diploma in Medical Writing, MSc Biotechnology
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Bangalore
Diabetic Diet Myths and Facts
MYTH: A high-protein diet is best.
Fact: Studies have shown that eating too much protein, especially animal protein, may actually cause insulin resistance, a key factor in diabetes. A healthy diet includes protein, carbohydrates, and fats. Our bodies need all three to function properly. The key is a balanced diet.

MYTH: You have to cut way down on carbs.
Fact: Again, the key is to eat a balanced diet. The serving size and the type of carbohydrates you eat are especially important. Focus on whole grain carbs since they are a good source of fiber and they are digested slowly, keeping blood sugar levels more even.

MYTH: You’ll no longer be able to eat normally. You need special diabetic meals.
Fact: The principles of healthy eating are the same—whether or not you’re trying to prevent or control diabetes. Expensive diabetic foods generally offer no special benefit. You can easily eat with your family and friends if you eat in moderation.

Tomato juice doesn't reduce blood in the body and adding water and sugar in the juice is your choice not a compulsion.
