In ayurveda, charak samhita describes eight different types of bodies that are disease prone. Out of these, the obese body is described as the one afflicted with the most diseases and troubles. Obesity is the condition or physical state of the body when excessive deposition of fat takes place in the adipose tissue.

Extra fat puts a strain on the heart, kidneys, liver and the joints such as the hips, knees and ankles and thus, overweight people are susceptible to several diseases like coronary thrombosis, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, gout, liver and gall bladder disorders. Chief cause of obesity is overeating, irregular eating habits and not following the rules of eating or mixing non-compatible food items in one meal.

To decrease weight and get rid of obesity three things must be kept in mind:
1. Controlling eating habits.
2. Regular exercise.
3. Avoiding the causes of weight gain

Diet recommended to lose weight

Early morning
Juice of half a lemon mixed in a glass of warm water and a teaspoon of honey.

Breakfast 
Wheat or mung bean sprouts and a cup of skimmed milk.

Midmorning
A glass of orange, pineapple or carrot juice.

Lunch 
Salad of raw vegetables such as carrot, beet, cucumber, cabbage, tomatoes. Steamed or boiled vegetables whole grain bread or whole wheat chapatis (indian bread) and a glass of buttermilk. Roasted cumin seeds, green coriander leaves, a little salt and some grated ginger mixed in the buttermilk.

Mid-afternoon 
Coconut water, dry fruits, lemon tea, fresh vegetable soup

Dinner
Whole grain bread or chapatis, steamed vegetables, seasonal fruits except banana and apple.

Home remedies for losing weight

--increase the quantity of fruits and vegetables and low calorie foods.--avoid intake of too much salt as it may be a factor for increasing body weight.--milk products like cheese, butter etc. And non-vegetarian foods should be avoided as they are rich in fat.--mint is very beneficial in losing weight. A chutney of green mint with some simple spices can be taken with meals. Mint tea also helps.--spices like dry ginger, cinnamon, black pepper etc. Are good for loosing weight and can be used in a number of ways.--regular intake of carrot juice.--avoid rice and potato, which contain a lot of carbohydrates. Among cereals wheat is good.--vegetables like bitter gourd (karela), and bitter variety of drumstick are useful in loosing weight.--honey is an excellent home remedy for obesity. It mobilizes the extra deposited fat in the body allowing it to be utilized as energy for normal functions.
Dosage: one should start with small quantity of about 10 grams or a tablespoon, taken with hot water early in the morning. A teaspoonful of fresh lemon juice may also be added.--fasting on honey and lime- juice is highly beneficial in the treatment of obesity without the loss of energy and appetite. For this, mix one teaspoon of fresh honey with the juice of half a lime in a glass of lukewarm water.
Dosage: take several times a day at regular intervals.--raw or cooked cabbage inhibits the conversion of sugar and other carbohydrates into fat. Hence, it is of great value in weight reduction.--exercise is an important part of any weight reduction plan. It helps to use up calories stored in body as fat. Walking is the best exercise to begin with and may be followed by running, swimming or rowing.

Causes and Prevention of Balance Disorders

Balance disorder is more prevalent in old people, but they are not the only ones who are affected by it. There are many causes that can lead to Balance disorder and some of them can be controlled. Balance problem causes spinning of head coupled with dizziness while standing or sitting, which can lead to an injurious fall.

Symptoms
The common symptoms of Balance disorder include:

  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Depression, anxiety or fear
  • Blurred vision
  • Disorientation
  • Tiredness
  • Inability to concentrate
  • Changes in heart rate and blood pressure

Causes

  • Ear infection: If the vestibular system (which is also called the labyrinth) inside your ear gets infected and inflamed, it can cause Balance disorder. This is because the inner part of the ear is responsible for coordination and balance.  This condition is known as labyrinthitis and it is frequently accompanied by dizziness and vertigo. Viral and respiratory infections can also cause labyrinthitis.
  • Poor circulation: Certain diseases associated with the circulatory system, such as stroke can cause dizziness and various other Balance problems.
  • Medications: There are certain medications that can lead to Balance disorder, such as medications to normalize blood pressure can cause dizziness. Ototoxic drugs are infamous for causing ear problems that lead to imbalance. Sometimes its ill effects are felt only during the period of using, but many people have suffered permanent ear damage.

Other causes of Balance disorder include head injury, imbalance of chemicals in the brain, arthritis, neurological conditions and aging.

Prevention

  • Balanced diet: Meniere's disease is a condition that causes ear problems, which lead to vertigo. It is primarily connected to the change in the volume of fluid in the inner ear. Try to eliminate salt from your diet and abstain from alcohol in order to prevent such a condition.
  • Prevention of ear infections: Otitis media is a common kind of ear infection seen in children, but adults can have it too. It causes dizziness and nausea. Completing the antibiotics course helps prevent this infection.

One can also opt for an annual flu shot to keep away the flu related infections in the ear.

Dear lybrate user, you must have been told by your gynaecologist regarding endometrial cyst. Endometriosis is a condition in which the cells which normally line the uterine wall, are present in abnormal places. Seriousness of the condition cannot be gauged without knowing the full clinical picture. Hemosiderin is iron in storage form in the body. Macrophage is a large cell like white blood cell (present in blood) which engulfs various materials like debris. Hemosiderin is also one of the complex engulfed by macrophage.

Hi. If you have regular menstrual cycles and had your periods last week, you can have intercourse from today, either everyday or on alternate days, until end of the cycle. If your cycles are more than 32 days, and you just had your periods, your doctor will prescribe a mild stimulation for your ovaries and you can have intercourse from the time you stop bleeding. Yes. She can conceive. 2 cm cyst is not a big size but we have to do ultrasound to see for the nature and character of cyst, then she will also require some hormonal investigations. After investigations medicine can be given to dissolve the cyst if required. Treatment can be planned after all investigations.

Your friend had unprotected sex on 11th day of her menses . The day of having sex matter. If your friend is having regular cycles (28 days), the Ovulation(release of egg) occurs on 14th day of the start of menses. Two days before (12th&13th) And two days after(15th & 16th) ovulation is the fertile period. Having unprotected sex during fertile period can result in pregnancy. If period is delayed, then wait for 7 days If period comes then her problem is over. If periods does not come, then get the pregnancy test or ultrasound to confirm or exclude pregnancy. If the pregnancy test is negative, the consult Gynaecologist to give medicines for withdrawal bleeding.

5 Simple Tips To Maintain Healthy Lifestyle During PCOD!

Pcod is one of the leading reasons for obesity, infertility and irregular menstrual cycles. Though women across the globe suffer from this disorder, treatment for each woman might vary.

Few tips are here:

1. Choose better fats

Too much saturated fat in the diet can lead to weight gain, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Limit foods that contain saturated fats. Instead of these bad fats, choose smaller amounts of healthy unsaturated fats, which are found in vegetable oils like virgin coconut and olive oil, avocado and nuts. Aim for a total of 30 to 45ml of healthy fats each day.

2. Increase fibre

Eating more fibre can help maintain blood sugar levels and lower your cholesterol. Plus, fibre helps make you feel full, so you tend to eat less. This can help with weight control. Aim for 21 to 25 grams per day.

3. Here are some high fibre foods to try:

  1. Fruit – especially pears and oranges
  2. Vegetables – especially peas, spinach, and broccoli
  3. Whole grains – such as oats, brown rice, whole wheat, and barley
  4. Legumes – such as lentils, chickpeas, soybeans, and kidney beans
  5. Cereals made with wheat bran or whole grain oats
  6. Nuts and seeds – such as almonds, flax, and sunflower seeds

Similar to fibre, protein also helps you feel full for longer, so you will eat less. This is a great way to help control your weight. Make sure that you have some protein at every meal and snack like egg fish or try vegetarian options such as legumes, soy or a quarter cup of nuts or seeds. Milk and low fat yogurt are also good sources of protein.

4. Foods to limit

Some foods cause weight gain if you eat them often. Choose fewer foods that are high in sugar, salt, refined flour and fat such as:

  1. White rice, pasta or bread
  2. Baked goods
  3. Regular soda
  4. Candy and chocolate
  5. Salty snacks
  6. Be active

5. Try to get at least 2 ½ hours of exercise each week. Start with 10 minutes of activity and work up to longer times as your body adjusts. Even if you don’t lose weight, exercise can help control your blood sugar and cholesterol levels and lower your risk for heart disease and diabetes.

Hi, having unprotected sex a day before expected menstrual date wouldn't make you pregnant; if you want to rule out pregnancy, get a pregnancy test done after 2nd april (early morning's first urine's mid-stream).

in twin their is risk of preterm birth .to avoid this use progesterone reg, avoid sexual relation, avoid uti, use probiotic , take steroid inj 3 dose at 30 wk.

get ultrasound done to confirm gestation. if pieces are seen, she will need evacuation with the help of a special syringe that sucks out pieces in the uterus due to retention of pieces and it's a opd procedure under local or general anesthesia you can't keep this pregnancy even if you want to because of toxic effects of medicines taken so far.

Sleep hygiene tips:

  1. Getting good sleep is important in maintaining health. There are several things that you can do to promote good sleep.
  2. Sleep hygiene help promote good sleep using behavioral interventions.

Sleep hygiene tips:

  1. Maintain a regular sleep routine
  2. Go to bed at the same time. Wake up at the same time. Ideally, your schedule will remain the same (+/- 20 minutes) every night of the week.
  3. Avoid naps if possible.
  4. Naps decrease the ‘sleep debt’ that is so necessary for easy sleep onset. Each of us needs a certain amount of sleep per 24-hour period. We need that amount, and we don’t need more than that. When we take naps, it decreases the amount of sleep that we need the next night – which may cause sleep fragmentation and difficulty initiating sleep, and may lead to insomnia.
  5. Don’t stay in bed awake for more than 5-10 minutes.

If you find your mind racing, or worrying about not being able to sleep during the middle of the night, get out of bed, and sit in a chair in the dark. Do your mind racing in the chair until you are sleepy, then return to bed. No tv or internet during these periods! that will just stimulate you more than desired. If this happens several times during the night, that is ok. Just maintain your regular wake time, and try to avoid naps.

  1. Don’t watch tv or read in bed.
  2. When you watch tv or read in bed, you associate the bed with wakefulness.
  3. Drink caffeinated drinks with caution
  4. The effects of caffeine may last for several hours after ingestion. Caffeine can fragment sleep, and cause difficulty initiating sleep. If you drink caffeine, use it only before noon. Remember that soda and tea contain caffeine as well.
  5. Avoid inappropriate substances that interfere with sleep
  6. Cigarettes, alcohol, and over-the-counter medications may cause fragmented sleep.
  7. Exercise regularly
  8. Exercise before 2 pm every day. Exercise promotes continuous sleep. Avoid rigorous exercise before bedtime. Rigorous exercise circulates endorphins into the body which may cause difficulty initiating sleep.
  9. Have a quiet, comfortable bedroom

Set your bedroom thermostat at a comfortable temperature. Generally, a little cooler is better than a little warmer. Turn off the tv and other extraneous noise that may disrupt sleep. Background ‘white noise’ like a fan is ok. If your pets awaken you, keep them outside the bedroom. Your bedroom should be dark. Turn off bright lights. Have a comfortable mattress.

  1. If you are a ‘clock watcher’ at night, hide the clock.
  2. Have a comfortable pre-bedtime routine
  3. A warm bath, shower, meditation.

Some who are struggling with sleep regularly find it helpful to print out these recommendations and read them reularly. If you accidentally miss some of recommendations, or have a bad night, do not fret. By following these sleep hygiene recommendations, you will help yourself to get into a routine that promotes good sleep opportunities.

U didn't mention you had sex or not and the date of sex, if you have done sex after 12th day of finishing of the period then there is chance of pregnancy, for confirmation you can self test the pregnancy by a kit.
