General Physician,
Hello sir, Please tell me if heat mask or cold mask help glaucoma patient? Thank you doc.
A warm compress can be really beneficial for giving yourself some relief from irritation, dryness, and redness in the eyes. There are a lot of reasons why your eyes may feel like that, including allergies, blepharitis, a sty, rosacea, dermatitis, conjunctivitis, sinusitis, viral infections, bacterial infections, wearing contact lenses, or even just tiredness. Hence, while a warm compress may provide you with relief, it is important that you do get your eyes checked out as well, to rule out the need for any prescription medication.

I am 25 year old. Name shailesh makwana. I have problem with my eyes. Evry time red colors why.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
I am 25 year old. Name shailesh makwana. I have problem with my eyes. Evry time red colors why.
Eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye (sclera) become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: • Eye dryness • Too much sun exposure • Dust or other particles in the eye • Allergies • Infection • Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. These may be due to: • Blepharitis: Swelling along the edge of the eyelid. • Conjunctivitis: Swelling or infection of the clear tissue that lines the eyelids and covers the surface of the eye (the conjunctiva). This is often referred to as "pink eye." • Corneal ulcers: Sores on the cornea most often caused by a serious bacterial or viral infection. • Uveitis: Inflammation of the uvea, which includes the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. The cause is most often not known. It may be related to an autoimmune disorder, infection, or exposure to toxins. The type of uveitis that causes the worst red eye is called iritis, in which only the iris is inflamed. Other potential causes of eye redness include: • Colds or allergies . • Acute glaucoma: A sudden increase in eye pressure that is extremely painful and causes serious visual problems. This is a medical emergency. The more common form of glaucoma is chronic and gradual. • Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. Sometimes, a bright red spot, called a subconjunctival hemorrhage, will appear on the white of the eye. This often happens after straining or coughing, which causes a broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. Most often, there is no pain and your vision is normal. It is almost never a serious problem. Because the blood leaks into the conjunctiva, which is clear, you cannot wipe or rinse the blood away. Like a bruise, the red spot will go away within a week or two. So,visit a local eyespecialist. The diagnosis of your problem in eyes can only be made by local examination of eyes

My cousin reads book for half an hour his eyes turns to reddish color and sleeps. What is his problem? why he is straining like that?

FICO, Specialist in Cataract,Cornea and refractive surgeries , MD - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Srinagar
He should undergo refraction if there is some refractive error, even if you have minimal refractive error kindly use spectacles. A common problem when working on a screen for long or near work periods is 'dry eye'. This is because concentrated work tends to reduce the blink reflex that replenishes the tears, and the dry atmosphere and lack of fresh air adds to the problem of insufficent tears. Allowing the cornea to become dry can cause irritation and blurred and variable vision. Use some lubricating eye drops like refresh tears ,use them at least 4 times a day at least. You do need to look at every aspect of your work environment also. Use proper lighting , dont work in dim conditions Should use table and chair for studying Your table should be of proper height so that you dont have to bend too much. Take rest after 30 mins for few mins ,put the tear drops and work again. Do blink intermittently.

Put eyedrop systane ultra four times a day. See an ophthalmolgst for. Repeat syringing and meticulous examination to findout the cause for watering eye. Your hba1c status shows normal control of blood sugar. Keep it up. Because alterd metabolic status also has ill effects on retina and thus vision.

Helo sir or Mam, my name is Suraj and 25 years old and I wear spectacles my no. Is -1.5 of both eyes and I decide to ...
Lasik is a simple laser procedure which changes the shape of the cornea so that the light rays fall on the retina properly. Basically a flap is made on the cornea, the laser is then given to cornea and flap is reposited. It is a painless procedure. It is a day care procedure does not require any injections, does not require admission, you can simply resume your duties in 2 days. Cost varies from centre to centre. Side effects are usually limited to dryness of eyes for few months. We can do lasik anytime after age of 18 years. You need to undergo proper prelasik checkup to decide whether lasik is safe for you or not.

Please follow the tips below to feel better: Wear anti-glare spectacles while using a computer. Practice the 20/20/20 exercise. Every 20 minutes, focus/look at an object that's at least 20 feet away, for 20 seconds. Blink often when you are watching TV or working on your computer. Decrease the brightness level of your computer’s/mobile phone’s screen. Don't decrease it so much that you have trouble seeing. Minimize watching television. Use UV protection sun glasses when out in the sun. You can also use artificial tear eye drops (E. G. Refresh) every 2- 3 hours to keep the eyes moist. Make sure you get at least 7 hours of sleep every night.

I have a desk job and since a week my eyes gets irritated and lazy. please tell me the solution of irritating eyes.
Usually eye fatigue can be prevented or reduced by making simple changes in your work habits or environment. Make changes to your computer screen, such as: place the screen 20-26 inches away from your eyes and a little below eye level. Regularly clean off dust and fingerprints from the screen. Smudges on the screen can reduce contrast and increase problems with glare and reflections. Choose screens that tilt and swivel. Consider using a glare filter over your screen. Make changes to your work environment, such as: change lighting to reduce glare and harsh reflections. Use an adjustable chair. Place a document holder next to your computer screen. Make changes to your work habits, such as: try the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look away about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds. Post a note that says" blink" on the computer as a reminder. Take regular breaks from computer work. Take care of your eyes with these steps: apply a washcloth soaked in warm water to tired, dry eyes (with eyes closed). Use artificial tears to refresh your eyes when they feel dry. To help prevent dry eyes while working indoors, use an air cleaner to filter dust and a humidifier to add moisture to the air. Management: give sufficient rest to your eyes with proper sleep. Keep yourself hydrated with intake of 10-12 glasses of water in a day. Eat healthy especially vitamin a rich food (green vegetables, carrots, yellow fruits and vegetables) and avoid junk food. Hold tap water in your flexed palm, dip your one eye closer to the water level, shut and open your eyelids often. Do the same with your other eye. Repeat this whole process 1-2 times more in a day. Give your eyes proper rest. Can keep slices of cucumber or potato or used tea bags over the closed eyes for sometime. Medication: instill 2 drops of euphrasia eye drops in each eye twice daily.
