There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 17 years so your number will not increase much now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.

Hye. Get your ENT check done. Also understand that you are young and your nutritional needs are high for growth and development. It is important to know that just eating two heavy meals a day will not fulfill your nutrient needs. Most often we skip meals especially when at work or in college. We start our day on empty stomach but our work or stress or activity is never reduced. This causes weakness and lack of energy levels. Food is our source of energy and if you don't eat well as per your needs you are going to get deficient in many nutrients. So, start by eating the right foods at the right time. Eat meals at frequent intervals. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, nuts, fruits in your meals. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Sleep well.    Exercise at least thrice a week.

Hello, Bloodshot eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: Eye dryness Too much sun exposure Dust or other particles in the eye Allergies Infection Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. Other causes of eye redness include Colds or allergies, Acute glaucoma, Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. Sometimes, a bright red spot, called a subconjunctival hemorrhage, will appear on the white of the eye. This often happens after straining or coughing, which causes a broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. Most often, there is no pain and your vision is normal. It is almost never a serious problem. Because the blood leaks into the conjunctiva, which is clear, you cannot wipe or rinse the blood away. Like a bruise, the red spot will go away within a week or two. Management: - Try to rest your eyes if redness is due to fatigue or eye strain. No other treatment is needed. - Wash your hands, hold clean water in your hand, keep your eyes closer to the water and dip the eyes by blinking the eyelids frequently in the held water in hand. Repeat it for 3-4 times again. - Avoid watching T. V. Working on computer or mobile, reading or frequently keep blinking your eyes to avoid dryness. Take frequent breaks in between. - In case there is itching, use a clean napkin or a tissue to wipe the tears and cleaning the eyelids gently. -Wear an UV-rays protected sunglasses while you are out in sun. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe’s Belladonna 30 and Euphrasia 30 - both thrice daily for 4 days. Use Euphrasia Eye drops twice daily. Revert back thereafter.

Get your refraction done and wear spectacles eat green veggies. Carrots.papayas, mangoes yellow fruits nuts butter . Strain less your eyes. Relax your eyes in between work. Blink regularily if working for long time on computer. Lower the brightness of your screen. Work under adequately illuminated conditions. Also try to blink your eyes properly while work. Use good tear substitutes like genteal 4 times a day. And anti glare screen for your system. you can go for lasik surgery depending upon the type severity and stability of refractive error, and condition of the cornea.till then you must not undergo lasik. visit an ophthalmologist and get complete eye examination done for the same and if all the criteria are met, you can successfully undergo lasik.you must also go for complete eye examination under slit lamp and peripheral screening for other differentials.

Hello lasik is very good option to get rid of glasses doctor will perform few tests (schirmer test, pentacam and fundus examination) and if all tests are normal then you can go for lasik surgery without fear. Success rate of lasik is over 96%. Side effects may vary from minimal like mild dryness, dalk, haloes, glare to severe like infection (very rare). Cost depends on type of lasik which varies from 25000 for standard lasik to 1.10 lacs for smile lasik having said that, I need to know the number of your glasses.

I would like to have a better health supplements for my eye as I do observe some power loss while working 24/7 at Laptops. I have read at some health related websites for some essential supplements that required for better vision and healthier eye. They are, Vitamin C, 250 mg Vitamin E, 200 mg Beta-carotene, 5,000 IU Zinc, 25 mg Zeaxanthin, 500 mcg Selenium, 100 mcg Lutein, 10 mg Calcium, 500 mg Thiamin, 2 mg Folic acid, 800 mcg Omega-3 essential fatty acids (includingflaxseed oil), 2,000-3,000 mgN- acetyl cysteine, 100 mg Alpha lipoic acid, 100 mg Would you please suggest a tab that contains the above or a better tab that suits. If I do go for clinics they are trying to sell a spectacle rather than suggesting a tab and I am not willing to wear specs. Thanks in advance Regards,

Working on laptops will not change your eye power. It is true that it leads to dryness of the eyes which can result in redness, burning, watering and sometimes blurring of vision which can cause eye pain or headache. For dryness (also known as computer vision syndrom) you have to blink frequently and to relax every 20 minutes looking at 20 feet distance for 20 secs (20-20-20 rule. And lubricant eye drops. For eye power you have to glasses or contact lenses if you want to avoid glasses. But no tablet can improve eyesight.

How Diabetes Can Affect Vision

MBBS, Diploma in Diabetology, DDM, CCACCD

Ask Free Question
Diabetes is the condition where the blood glucose levels in your body tend to be quite high and can have an adverse effect on many of the organs in your body. The eyes are no exception and can be quite adversely affected by diabetes as well. Let's look at the various problems you could face if you have diabetes.

1. Blurry vision: diabetes can cause the lens in the eye to swell and this will affect the way you see. Because of the increased lens size, the eyes have difficulty in focusing on objects resulting in blurry vision. You will have to get your blood sugar levels back to normal and only then the vision will begin to correct itself. This will however take time to happen.

2. Cataract: blurry vision for an extended period of time which progressively gets worse can be a symptom of cataract. Although cataracts can develop even with normal patients, they tend to accelerate and happen earlier in adults who have diabetes. Cataracts are usually fixed with surgery where the natural lens is removed and replaced with an artificial lens.

3. Diabetic retinopathy: diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment are one of the leading causes of blindness in adults who suffer from diabetes. The retina is a very important part of the eye which allows us to see the images by capturing light and then sending them to the brain via the optical nerve. With diabetic retinopathy the smaller blood vessels in your retina may get damaged and thus end up causing damage to your vision. This can be of three types:

A. Proliferative retinopathy: in this condition very small blood vessels grow from the surface of the retina. The retina is the film at the back of your eye, and the tiny blood vessels are capillaries. These growing blood vessels are very delicate and bleed easily.

If you have had diabetes for years your retinae may develop this condition. As the retina is damaged by diabetes, the diseased retina releases special growth chemicals. These chemicals make tiny blood vessels grow: these are called'new blood vessels.

B. Background retinopathy: background or nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (npdr) is the earliest stage of diabetic retinopathy. With this condition, damaged blood vessels in the retina begin to leak extra fluid and small amounts of blood into the eye

C. Maculopathy: the macula is the central area of your retina. It is responsible for all your sharp vision, such as used for watching tv or reading. It can become damaged in diabetes, with leaks developing (oedema).

4. Glaucoma: this is a condition where fluids build up inside the eye and it results in the pressure within it building up. This may damage the blood vessels within the eye and cause vision changes. Problems within the eye may not be detected till you experience vision loss. Some of the symptoms of glaucoma may include:

1. Blurry vision

2. Watering from eyes

3. Difficulty in vision

4. Pain in the eyes

5. Lights appear to have halos

6. Headaches

Treatments

Blurry vision also tends to go away slowly once the level of blood glucose is controlled either via medicines or by diet changes. However, glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy may require a range of medicines to ease the pressure on the eye or to discharge fluid buildup. If none of these works, then relevant surgery may be required to resolve the problems.

You should undergo refraction if there is some refractive error, even if you have minimal refractive error kindly use spectacles. A common problem when working on a screen for long or near work periods is 'dry eye'. This is because concentrated work tends to reduce the blink reflex that replenishes the tears, and the dry atmosphere and lack of fresh air adds to the problem of insufficent tears. Allowing the cornea to become dry can cause irritation and blurred and variable vision. Use some lubricating eye drops like refresh tears that use them at least 4 times a day at least. You do need to look at every aspect of your work environment also. Use proper lighting , dont work in dim conditions Should use table and chair . Your table should be of proper height so that you dont have to bend too much. Take rest after 30 mins for few mins ,put the tear drops and work again. Do blink intermittently.

Use contact lens for that on occasions. However, lasik is best and safe option to go for. The procedure takes hardly 15 minutes to complete and has least chances of complications. Its also cheaper nowadays.
