I do use climax delay condoms to improved my timing. Will it cause any side effect?

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Haldwani
Hello- Yes they will. Climax delay condoms contain benjocaine etc which are used as local anesthetics. Prolong use of local anesthesia in a particular organ will permanently desensitize the organ by damaging the nerves of the penis and you will not going to have a erection at all.

My question is for gynaecologist regarding the vaccine Rubel (preventive for cervical cancer. Is it worth or mandatory to be administered in all the girls and does it has any side effects (short term or long term) both?

BAMS
Ayurveda, Bangalore
Hi, This vaccine does not have any side effects. This vaccination works by making the body produce antibodies against the HPV virus which causes cervical cancer. These antibodies protect the body from an HPV infection, by fighting the virus when it attacks the cervix, thus offers protection against cervical cancer. This vaccine should be gien as early as possible in adolescent girls as this is when the best immune response to the vaccine is achieved.

You need to eat a balanced diet. Eat whatever you feel like eating and as per your hunger. Eat lots of tomatoes and oranges. You can drink tomato juice also made in a mixer after adding little sugar. This will improve your iron levels. Eat figs and black resins (kishmish) daily after soaking overnight. Drink plenty of milk and take juice of 1 tender coconut daily till full pregnancy. Eat all seasonal vegetables and dal daily. Do. Meditation for 15-20 min daily and deep breathing for 20 min daily.

It's a Urinary tract infection, and you would need Antibiotics to get over with it. Also you would need to drink lots of water to flush it out.

Vaginal discharge with whitish or yellowish colour is called leucorrhoea. This is a common problem faced by all women. We have effective treatment in homoeopathy for your problem and you may opt for it. You take homoeopathic medicine kreosote 30 --daily one dose for a week.

I don't have aids but I have a question related. Aids happen when healthy blood comes in contact with hiv positive blood. Right? What if a healthy person doing sex with several healthy people (who do not have any hiv or anything)? Will that cause aids?

MBBS, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Delhi
sex wth healthy people shouldnt cause AIDS, but mutiple partners better avoided, as people may be without symptoms, suffering in seropositive zone of disease

My wife was pregnant after marriage and she is 19 Now. After 70th day completion we went to doctor to check baby and mothers health check up. They have done transvaginal scan at that time. After 3 days naturally the baby was absaison. My doubt is Whether the doctors have done proper manner of scan or not and what are all the reason this was happen so that we can avoid such case in next time.

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG)
Gynaecologist, Kolkata
Abortion can occur in first pregnancy. There may not be any specific cause for that. It will not happen the next time. Do not worry. Transvaginal scan cannot affect the pregnancy at all so do not think that the scan has something to do with it.

Labour Pain and False Contractions - How to Differentiate Between the Two?

MD, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Vadodara
Labour Pain and False Contractions - How to Differentiate Between the Two?

It is likely for you to experience false labour pain or false contractions before the beginning of true labour during pregnancy. This is called Braxton Hicks contractions, and it is the way of telling the body to get ready for the real labour pain on the day of giving birth. However, these false contractions do not indicate that the labour has started or will begin shortly.

How do false labour contractions feel like?
Women may get a tightening feeling in their abdomen, which comes and goes away, due to Braxton Hicks or false labor contractions. These false contractions may feel like menstrual cramps. These contractions are unlike true labour and usually do not cause pain. They do not occur regularly and do not get closer together. They do not last for very long or get worse with time. These false contractions may be felt during the second or third trimester of pregnancy.

The difference between Braxton Hicks and true labor contractions
There are several differences between true labor pain and false labour contractions. These are as follows:

  1. Comparing how often these contractions occur allows us to differentiate between true labour pains and false contractions. False labour contractions are irregular while true contractions occur at regular intervals. They last for over a minute, and they get stronger and closer with the passage of time.
  2. The change in these contractions are based on your movement, which allows us to differentiate between the two types. False labour contractions may end when you take a walk or rest, and stop when you change your position. In case of true labour pains, the contractions keep on continuing irrespective of any kind of movement or change in position. They do not stop even when you take some rest.
  3. The strength of true labour pain and false contractions is different. False labor contractions are weak in general and there are less chances of them getting worse. They are stronger in the beginning and gradually weaken. However, true labour contractions get increasingly stronger with time.
  4. We can differentiate between the two types of contractions on the basis of the areas which are affected with pain. False labour contractions only cause slight pain in the front part of the abdomen and the pelvis. True labour pain is much more intensive in nature. They usually begin from the lower back and move to the front abdomen region. They may start in the abdomen and move back as well.

If you are not sure and cannot differentiate between true labour pains and Braxton Hicks contractions, it is essential for you to consult a gynaecologist. A doctor will be able to identify the true nature of the contractions.

Using condom and having sex will lead to any problem? My wife is getting feared of using condom and having sex.

MBBS
General Physician, Trivandrum
Using a condom for contraception is the safest way to prevent pregnancy. But condoms should be used according to the instructions or there is a chance of contraceptive failure. There is also a chance of condom breakage where you will need to use emergency contraceptive pill if it happens.

Mint (Pudeena) - 6 Surprising Health Benefits!

Mint, scientifically  known as ‘mentha’, is a herb with small green leaves and a characteristic strong odour. It is also a virtual cure-all plant. Try using mint by adding it to your meals, oral care and skin care regimen to remain healthy and fresh forever. A few prominent mint health benefits include the following:

  1. Digestion aid: Try mint leaves if you are not feeling hungry. It is a great appetizer as well as a promoter of digestion. It soothes your stomach when you’re suffering from inflammation or indigestion. So, next time you have a stomach upset, go for mint tea or mint oil. Mint’s characteristic aroma acts as an appetizer. It stimulates the salivary glands and other digestive glands to produce saliva and digestive juices, thereby facilitating digestion.

  2. Nausea and headache: Mint leaves, especially freshly crushed leaves, help staunch nausea and headache, thanks to the strong and refreshing aroma. Menthol oil or mint-flavoured products are very useful for alleviating nausea. Similarly, balms with a mint base or mint oil can be rubbed on your forehead and nose to give quick relief from headache. Mint tea oil derived from mint is also very effective in treating nausea and motion sickness while travelling.

  3. Respiratory disorders: The strong minty aroma is very effective in clearing up congestion of the nose, throat, bronchi and lungs. This makes mint a very effective remedy for asthma and common cold. The herb is also a good remedy for cough. This is because mint has a cooling and soothing effect on the throat, nose and other respiratory channels, and this helps relieve the irritation, which causes chronic coughing. Regular use of mint in any form is very beneficial for asthma patients as well, because it is a good relaxant and it relieves congestion that blocks respiratory channels, causing symptoms of asthma.

  4. Depression and fatigue reliever: As mint is a natural stimulant, it can help relieve fatigue and feelings of sadness. Mint essential oil is very good if you are feeling anxious, sad, depressed, low or just plain sluggish. Mint oil can be ingested, applied as a salve topically, or inhaled as a vapour to help with fatigue and depression.

  5. Oral health: Mint has germicidal qualities and can quickly freshen up your breath. It also gets eradicates harmful oral bacteria inside your mouth, alleviating oral health. The mint leaves can be rubbed directly on your tongue, teeth and gums to clean and refresh your mouth. You can also get the benefits of mint by simply chewing on its leaves.

  6. Skin health: Since mint oil is a good antiseptic and anti-pruritic, it acts as an excellent skin cleanser. It is used to clear pimples as well as soothe and cure skin from infections.

Mint’s anti-pruritic properties can be used for treating insect bites, mosquito bites, stings by honeybees etc. With its cooling property, mint will relieve you of the irritation of stings and bring the swelling down. Also, women can use mint oil to relieve cracks and pain in nipples which occur during breastfeeding." If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.

Hi, my periods were irregular, and when I consulted my doctor, she found a cyst in ovary in ultrasound. PCOS is diagnosed. She prescribed evacure dosage to me. But, now again I missed my periods by 10 days. I had intercourse with my husband, but we are not ready for child. I did pregnancy tests just after 5 days of missed period. It came negative. Are there any chances that I am pregnant?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Gurgaon
Hi Vidhi. it would be good to check again in a few days. But repeat the test with an early morning sample of urine for best results. If still negative we can be reasonably sure that you are not pregnant.
