I deliver a baby girl on 27th Jan 2017. I have been experiencing joint pain and fatigue. My pelvic area also hurts. Once I am in a lying position it gets difficult to get up. The same is the case even when I sit on the floor. Also when I wake up in the morning my fingers are stiff and painful. Please suggest.

Hello Rachel. Thank you for contacting. A detailed examination is required. It is a common problem after pregnancy. Mild exercise will help in reducing pain in joints. A proper technique should be followed for lying to sitting. Posture maintenance is very benificial. Physiotherapy is very effective for joints and pelvic floor strengthning. I hope this will help you.

Hip Pain

Hip Pain

Causes of Hip Pain

These are some of the conditions that commonly cause hip pain:

Arthritis. People with arthritis also feel stiffness and have reduced range of motion in the hip.

Hip fractures. With age, the bones can become weak and brittle. Weakened bones are more likely to break during a fall.

Bursitis. Bursae are sacs of liquid found between tissues such as bone, muscles, and tendons. When bursae get inflamed, they can cause pain.

Tendinitis.  It's usually caused by repetitive stress from overuse.

Muscle or tendon strain. Repeated activities can put strain on the muscles, tendons, and ligaments that support the hips. When they become inflamed due to overuse, they can cause pain and prevent the hip from working normally.

Avascular necrosis .This condition happens when blood flow to the hip bone slows and the bone tissue dies. Although it can affect other bones, avascular necrosis most often happens in the hip. It can be caused by a hip fracture or dislocation, or from the long-term use of high-dose steroids (such as prednisone), among other causes.

Symptoms of Hip Pain

Depending on the condition that's causing your hip pain, you might feel the discomfort in your:

  • Thigh
  • Inside of the hip joint
  • Groin
  • Outside of the hip joint
  • Buttocks

Sometimes pain from other areas of the body, such as the back or groin (from a hernia), can radiate to the hip.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There could be multiple reasons for back pain, it can be issues with back muscles, disc, facet joints, spinal canal itself etc. But if there is only localized pain which is mild to moderate in intensity, with no radiation of pain, no neurological symptoms, and no other symptoms like fever, weight loss, loss of appetite, night sweats etc, initially you can start with: - to maintain proper posture while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc in case you are having back pain. Let me know in 2-3 weeks time how you are feeling so that we can discuss further and take your case ahead. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

I satender kumar age 25 have a problem in my knee. When I sit for long time I mean 2-3 hours than there ...
Advice... Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

When muscles are torn, they have to be repaired by surgery. These muscles are called rotator cuff muscles. Supraspinatus, infraspinatus and subscapularis are main along with teres minor. Muscles are like rubber in tension. If they get torn, torn ends move away from each other and natural healing is not possible. More you delay the surgery, more difficult it becomes to repair the torn part. This surgery can be done best by well trained shoulder specialist orthopedic surgeon only. Please don't go to general physician or even orthopaedic surgeon without speciality in shoulder surgery.

I suffer from knee pain. Actually when I bend my knee I hear some noise and it is paining when I try to balance one side when ever I bend my knee I get pain n noise. I suffer from this pain for two years.

DNB (Orthopedics), Diploma In Orthopaedics (D. Ortho), MBBS

You are likely to have osteoarthritis of the knee joints. It is a condition where the cartilage layer is worn out exposing the underlying bone. When bone rubs on bone, there is crackling noise and you get pain. Eventually the knee stiffens up making it difficult to walk. To get rid of pain, do stretching and strengthening exercises for muscles around the knee joint. Eat green leafy vegetables and fruits. Walk daily. Take pain medicines if necessary.

Dear First to reduce weight at physiotherapy occupational therapy centre under observation as you have PIVD. Simultaneously you may take therapy for back pain too. If you have Patience then surely you may reach to your destination without surgery. Every slipped disc patient not necessary to go for surgical intervention.
