I am 22 year old jobless male. I am a mechanical graduate. I lost interest in life. I am not in present. I am very inactive. I have a lot of fear that I may lose in life. Always thinking bad things in heart. Please tell me any suggestion. I don't have dare to go in public and speak. Please tell me what should I do?

Dear lybrate user. Your symptoms are suggestive of you being in major depression. A person when in major depression has low neurotransmitters like serotonin in brain and thus is very difficult for him to motivate himself. He has a negative attribution style for almost everything around him which is similar to what you are having and yes you seem to have other risk factors of being unmarried and jobless. Lack of confidence and interest are further hurdels to motivate self for social interactions. I would suggest you to consult a psychiatrist and get started on medications as soon as possible. Gradually over time cbt and other life changes may be brought about. With medications you will start feeling better by say 10 to 15 days from the start. I hope you take the step in right directions and get better soon. Take care.

Smoking and pitch of the voice is not related. You need to specify how does your voice sound. Is it like female. If it is like female you need to go for voice Assessment and therapy.

This is a very common problem due to lack of exposure and lack of confidence. So just take help of your friends and family to discuss and practice. Join some drama and music classes. Don't takes any medicine.

Hi doc I am 19/male. I have a problem with voice. Whenever I speak to someone over the phone or in person, people always say" can you please repeat it" I wanna know exercise/ yoga to make my voice louder and clearer.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Breathe deeply and exhale on a hisssssssing sound. Repeat 10 times. Proper breathing is the foundation for a healthy voice AND control over nervous energy that can make the voice quiver. Say “Mm-mmm (as in yummy) Mmm-hmm (like yes) ” Repeat 5 times. This develops mask resonance, which creates a clean and vibrant sound by creating a clean approximation of the cords and a resonance that will sound great and project easily. Say “Mm-mmm. Mmm-hmm.” up and down your vocal range, from low to middle to high and back again, 10 times.

you may have to speak with a low tone on a daily basis to become short of breath. Some peoples lung capacity is only so much and it is better to live with what you have rather than to go for treatment for something you should not be bothered about. I.

I could understand your problem. For this you have to consult a Speech Therapist first in your city as it's going to be ATLEAST 2 to 3 months Therapy. A visit to a Dentist is important as your Teeth problem should be fixed if possible. This may be one of the causes which has reduced your confidence. To evaluate your Voice you have to consult the Speech Therapist.

I have violent mood swings. During any conversation if any thing is said against me or a different opinion is expressed against my opinion I become angry and violent and vulgar speech comes out of me. I am very particular and perfectionist in my work and if other family members do not follow it I get angry. What to do ? If this is psychological disorder then suggest a Doctor in Jaipur.

Good Afternoon ~ Anxiety or stress can make a simple and unnoticed non-medical condition like stammering get worse to the point where it is not only embarrassing but also humiliating and sometimes depressing. For becoming a famous singer, avoid foods which are not too salty, oily, pungent or bitter. Best and safest food for singing is strict vegetarian diet and to take fruits in day time and cow's milk in night time about three hours after dinner.

Dear Lybrate user, Nervousness is anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders are a category of mental disorders characterized by feelings of anxiety and fear, where anxiety is a worry about future events and fear is a reaction to current events. These feelings may cause physical symptoms, such as a racing heart and shakiness. There are a number of anxiety disorders: including generalized anxiety disorder, a specific phobia, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, and panic disorder among others. While each has its own characteristics and symptoms, they all include symptoms of anxiety. I need to know more about your anxiety so that I will be able to diagnose it properly and provide you tips to overcome and manage your anxiety. Take care.

I am 16 years old and I am sing song I was no stammering but I am talk any other person that time I am stammer so what can I do self therapy.

Masters in Speech Pathology and Audiology

You are right. Normally we don't stammer when we sing or say a poem or even if we act like some one or imitate some body. As you are conscious about how or the way you speak not what you are speaking. Go to a experienced speech therapist.

Will stammering fade away with age? My age is 19? What a stammer does usually to cure himself?

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Chennai
Stammering is typically recognised by a tense struggle to get words out. This makes it different from the normal non-fluency we all experience which includes hesitations and repetitions. Commonly it involves repeating or prolonging sounds or words, or getting stuck without any sound (silent blocking). Sometimes people put in extra sounds or words. Often people lose eye contact. Some people who stammer talk their way round difficult words so that you may not realise they stammer at all. This avoidance of words, and avoidance of speaking in some or many situations, is an important aspect of stammering. Stammering varies tremendously from person to person and is highly variable for the person who stammers who may be fluent one minute and struggling to speak the next. Get an mri brain and eeg with a psychiatrist evaluation.
