I am having depression. Can't concentrate on anything. Mind gets diverted. What should I do.

I am having depression. Can't concentrate on anything. Mind gets diverted. What should I do.
Practice yoga and meditation. Although you could technically consider yoga your daily exercise, practicing the deep stretches and slow body movements will help you to clear your mind. Meditating - clearing your mind - while practicing gentle yoga will give double the relaxation effect to ease your stress. Use guided imagery to imagine a place that makes you feel at peace. Imagine somewhere that you feel happy; focus on the details to fully remove your mind from the present. Do yoga alone or in a group setting to help you learn new poses. As you advance in your yoga, you will be able to form complex stretches that force you to focus and take your mind off your stress. Practice deep relaxation by doing progressive muscle relaxation. This is when you work through your body by tensing your muscles, holding the tension for ten seconds, and then releasing it. This will soften and relieve all the muscles in your body. Learn to relax. Relaxing your body, by whatever natural means, is a great way to reduce stress. Don't expect your stress to immediately dissipate; it can take time. In most cases, try not to fixate on the stress itself while you're relaxing. Think of something placid and tranquil, or think of nothing in particular. Let your body tell your mind that everything is okay. Listen to calm and soft music. Music really gets you relaxed and happy. Try listening to music with no vocals and pick music with instruments like the flute, piano, or violin. Classical, jazz, or folk tunes generally work well, but if that's not your cup of tea, choose music that puts you in a good place. Eat properly. Your body needs to be healthy, strong, happy and properly fueled to help you tackle stress. Like it or not, stress is a bodily reaction to anything that disturbs its natural state, meaning that your body can have a profound effect on producing and relieving stress. Water has been shown to relieve stress. That's because a dehydrated body creates cortisol, a stress hormone. An under-hydrated body creates stress to motivate the owner of the body to properly care for him/herself. Start decreasing caffeine and alcohol intake. In some cases, alcohol intake increases stress response in humans while being linked to substance dependency, a stressful condition itself. Caffeine is also responsible for raising stress levels, especially at work, so try to stick to water as a general rule. Eat a healthy breakfast and healthy snacks during the day. It is better to eat several smaller meals throughout the day than to consume three large meals. For a healthy stress-free diet, consume more complex carbohydrates such as whole-grain breads and pasta, foods high in vitamin a such as oranges, foods high in magnesium like spinach, soybeans or salmon, and black and green tea, which contain antioxidants.

Every time you recover from the episodes of seizures (" forget what you are doing), please note what kind of activities you were doing, time, your emotional state etc. This may help to figure out some ways for better management of your problem. Nadisuddi technique from pranayama, which is a technique of yoga, properly learned and regularly practiced can help you by calming down your nervous impulses in the brain and increasing oxygen levels.

You are going through extended grief reaction, which is normal after loss of a loved one. Time is the healer for the emotional and behavioral changes, however if your depression is severe enough to affect you in a significant manner, kindly consult a psychiatrist for short term antidepressant medication, depending on the complaints.

Dear lybrate-user thanks for the query, We cannot the change thinking of people around us But is it justified that because of other factors you are making yourself unhealthy mentally and physically. When any thought runs divert your mind and involve yourself in some other activities make yourself as much busy as you can if any thought runs don't involve yourself in that as much you will involve yourself in the thought you will go in more imaginary world. So the best way is just divert your mind in something else and make your brain in active condition by whatever means you like but make yourself in busy condition. Do some aerobic exercise it will help you lot. Try to sleep for 7-8 hours as not sleeping well also lead to many problems. If you still feel problem then medicines along with counselling will be helpful. Good luck.

If you find yourself being cheated you cannot do anything about it. You are not create it/you cant control it/ you cant cure it/ Accept and surrender. Or may be you practice SLAA.

Hi my problem is that I am in a love affair from last 8 year. It was pretty good for first 2 years den afterwards she got admission in mca and got spoiled like her friends. She started speaking lies every now and then and started hiding many things. Last year I came to know that she was talking to a friend of her on regular basis that too after my instruction to not to talk to him since he was taking too much interest in her. But 1 day she forgot her phone in my car where I read that they are still in contact. On my confrontation she told me that she was only helping him due to some problem in his home. Although I couldn't find any message which anything wrong. But since then I have become very insecure because she use to take my guidance in her every decision then how come she took such a big decision without my consent and that too after my restriction to talk to him. Although she says she has never ever thought of any other person in her life. I am getting very insecure now and whenever she talks about her collegue n friends I start doubting. This insecurity is affecting me like hell and bring my morale down quite frequently. Although we love each other but we fight a lot. I am not even able to leave her as the relationship is so old and she love me a lot. But I am scared if later I came to know that she even had a fling then I wont be able to control myself. I don't know what to do as neither I am able to leave her nor accept her totally. Moreover after that incidence I am finding myself unable to trust her and thats why not able to love her or trust her completely. How can I know the truth behind this. I tried many things but dont have any proof. I beg you please help me out of this condition.

Before you realise you seem to suffer from delusion of infidelity. This can be secondary to your own depressive illness and low confidence states. If you really love her let her go free, do what she likes, see happiness in her happiness. If she also loves you, she will always think you and come back to you during times of her realxation and happiness sharing. In the state you are, visit a psychiatrist.
