My father is not able to feel tissue of his palm, first it was with right hand but now he is having problem with left hand as well. When he close his fist and open, his two fingers don't open and has to do that manually to open his palm again. The sense of his both limbs are not responding as it should be. Please suggest us what we can do. Problem is increasing day by day.

BHMS
Homeopath, Secunderabad
It needs a thorough medical examination. So please take your father to a neurologist or neuro-physician. Some tests may be required which the doctor will recommend. You can also try Homeopathy which can help the nervous system to work effectively and help in the overall well being. A detailed case history is required to study and select constitutional remedy. You can contact me with the reports.

Since last 13 years you are seizure free. So you do MRI brain and EEG. And If the reports are normal, then your anti seizure drugs should be tapered slowly and stopped.

There is evidence that certain dietary supplements and vitamins can help with certain types of pain. Fish oil is often used to reduce pain associated with swelling. Topical capsaicin, derived from chili peppers, may help with arthritis, diabetic nerve pain, and other conditions. There's evidence that glucosamine can help relieve moderate to severe pain from osteoarthritis in the knee. Do reply back for private consultation. And detailed treatment plan.

I had a slip dics (due to lifting heavy article) some 3 years back. Even after rest and medication, I feel numbness in my lower limbs when I sit or stand for more than half hour. Doctors say this could be due to some nerve compression. Physiotherapy also has been tried.

It could be due to cervical spondylosis this is quite a common condition rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days do neck & back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Use of cervical collar will give you relief. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take you will need other supportive medicines also. Hi, you have sinus headache alongwith migraine headache. These two are closely related. Take following medicines nat suph 30 4pills to be sucked thrice a day for 30days kali bich 200 4pills to be sucked thrice a day for 30 days take plain water steam once a day avoid eating curd, icecreams, pickles, papad, citrus fruits, watermelon, green skin bananas, pineapple, strawberries, custard apple, guavas. Stop using mosquito repellants. Stay away from bright lights, loud noise, too much spicy food, chocolates as these are the triggering factors in increasing migrainous headache. As these are the causes which worsen the headache. Don't take ashwagandha.

The antisynthetase syndrome associated with anti-jo-1-antibodies requires long-term immunosuppressive therapy in most patients. Whereas a complete clinical response of muscular symptoms is frequent, continued deterioration of the pulmonary system may occur despite immunosuppressive treatment, and may lead to fatal outcome. 2. Epilepsy cannot be cured completely, treatment helps to reduce symptoms.

Sir or mam if we have unwanted fat in face this indicate a paralysis or bell palsy.

MBBS
General Physician, Hyderabad
Sir or mam if we have unwanted fat in face this indicate a paralysis or bell palsy.
Facial fat in normal people is caused by 1) poor diet with unbalanced nutrition like eating fatty foods carbohydrates salt with less of vitamins 2) dehydration causes face to retain fat 3) alcohol will cause dehydration too. 4) low thyroid levels with weight gain is also responsible 5) genetics like having broad face in family with double chin. Facial paralysis is due to facial nerve damage mainly or from any head injury or head tumour causes symptoms of facial pain, headache difficulty talking, eating, drinking due to muscle twitching. Difficultly closing eye leading to tearing and eye damage, blowing air occur on side. Facial puffiness is not associated in most cases, checking for kidney functions is essential to rule out renal cause.

Can I take MRI tests to diagnose dementia ? What are the other tests to diagnose it ? I am 18 year old I have a doubt that I may have a kind of dementia?

MBBS
General Physician, Bangalore
I don't think you have dementia. If you think you're forgetful that's because you have issues with concentration or simply that you don't find something so interesting that your mind bothers to keep it. So, work on your concentration, do meditation. Dementia is common in old age. You're too young to think about that. To answer your question yes, mri do show the pathologies that may cause dementia.
