As you r telling the problem, there may be hoarseness of your throat. Avoid cold drink and curd etc. Do gargles of hot water with salt three times a day. Also at night hot milk adding turmeric, sugar ghee you may take 3 days.

This is clearly an anxiety disorder. Treatment is possible and can be done in many different ways. Medicines alone, psychotherapy alone or a combination of both can be used. We routinely encounter clients with such problems at our center and treat them with good results. It will need some basic evaluation and difficult to suggest it in a brief text. You must consult an expert at the earliest in order to prevent yourself on missing out from many good things in life!

I am male 20 years old. From birth I am having stammer and I had also completed homeopathic course to decrease it or to overcome from it but nothing happened. I came to know that it will decrease as I grow but I am not able to see any difference before and now. Please suggest me a way so that I can work on it. Because having stammer in today's life is very embarrassing.

You may try" speech therapy" please consult a speech therapist who will give you some exercises and it will help in reducing your stammer. If your stammer is because of social anxiety, then you may consult a counsellor who will help you to gain more self confidence and thereby reducing your anxiety if any.

My grandson is 20 month as of now he is not speaking nor responding doctors are predicting Autism can you suggest what to do.

M.Sc Applied Psychology, Advanced Diploma Child Guidance & Counselling
Psychologist, Delhi
Dear Lybrate user Please give proper stimulation and time to the child to grow and develop. It's too early to label a child as having autism. First get your grandson hearing test done, because if hearing is not appropriate then it could lead to language delay. Another thing is you can try giving him language exposure like labelling the door as door with the words marked over it. Recite rhymes to him, tell him bed time stories to him. Have patience, all the best.

Sometimes when I am talking loudly I feel shortness of breath. This happens to me over 5 month. So I talk with low voice. Then it's not happen. So doctor please help me.

MBBS, MD - Psychiatry, MBA (Healthcare)

you may have to speak with a low tone on a daily basis to become short of breath. Some peoples lung capacity is only so much and it is better to live with what you have rather than to go for treatment for something you should not be bothered about. I.

By hardening your voice you are doing vocal abuse. Harsh and hoarse voice happens because of vocal abuse. Consult ent specialist first he will guide you according whether you need to go for voice therapy or not. Take care.

Dear Lybrate user. In many of the cases Stammering has two important reasons. Vocal chord misalignment or other problems are the primary reason. For this vocal chord complaint, you should consult an ENT specialist and get it corrected. Second reason is purely psychological. Stammer therapy can help you in psychological reasons. Take care.
