Hi , first and foremost eat nutritious and balanced diet, remember you need proteins, calcium and adequate fat for good musculoskeletal health along with easy to follow and functional exs programme. Swimming is an ideal exercise for u, but if you don't have access I would suggest walking to begin with in d morning sun, hydrate yourself well, good posture and following back ergonomics.

I m 18 n always my legs r pain. Can you recommend me that what should I take medicine.

I m 18 n always my legs r pain. Can you recommend me that what should I take medicine.
When leg pain occurs after strenuous physical activity, you can simply apply cold compresses. This will help reduce the pain by numbing the affected area and control swelling and inflammation. Wrap a few ice cubes (or a bag of frozen peas) in a thin towel. Apply this pack on the affected area for 10 to 15 minutes, while keeping the leg(s) elevated. Do this a few times a day. Note: Do not apply ice directly on the skin, as it may cause frostbite. 2. Massage Massage promotes faster recovery from muscle damage that causes leg pain. 10 minutes of massage therapy attenuates inflammatory signaling after exercise-induced muscle damage. In addition, massage improves blood circulation and helps relieve stress and anxiety. Rub some warm olive, coconut or mustard oil on the affected area. Using gentle yet firm strokes, massage your legs for about 10 minutes. Do this 2 or 3 times daily as needed. You can also use a self-massage device or apply pressure to sore muscles using a tennis ball. Also take Mag phos 12x - twice daily for next 7 days and get back to me

This may be a muscular strain. Your muscle is weak and that painful trigger point will appear only in conditions where you are fatigued or you have carried some weight on your shoulders like bag etc and also after gym workouts or exercises. Simple treatment for this is to apply an ice pack over the affected area for next 7 days twice a day and then it will be fine.

1.Warm mustard oil or sesame oil (1 teaspoon) with 3-4 cloves of crushed garlic and 1 tsp of ajwain (carom) seeds until it roasts to a reddish brown colour. Ensure that it does not get burned. After that do hot fomentation with salt potli (bag). 2.Take 8 to 10 glasses of water daily. 3.Increase the consumption of vitamin C in diet. 4.Take fresh Ginger into pieces, place in the cup of water and boil it for 30 minutes in low flame. Cool for 30 minutes after boiling. Consume this solution with Honey. 5.While sleeping, lie straight on your back or with bent knees supported by a pillow. 6.Taking hot and cold compresses on an alternate basis can be quite helpful in relieving pain.... 7.Practice yoga and pranayam daily early morning.

Ayurvedic Ways To Manage Joint And Spine Pain!

Panchakarma is an ayurvedic technique which is used to detoxify the body, boost the immune system and restore the balance in the body. Due to lack of exercise and a poor diet, the waste material generated by the body is not effectively discharged. This causes accumulation of toxins in the body that can result in diseases.

Panchakarma can be used to treat and heal the pain in the joints and the spine. There are specific treatments in panchakarma that targets these regions, they are:

1. Abhyanga - Abhyanga is a technique where warm oil is used to cover the entire body. The oil is then gently massaged so that it can penetrate the underlying tissues. It is used to lubricate the joints, muscle toning and to increase blood supply around nerve endings.

 2. Pindasweda - In this technique hot cotton bags consisting of herbs, rice, and sand or medical powder are used to massage the body. This rejuvenating therapy induces perspiration in the body by which the herbs and the heat penetrates into the body. It is used to treat problems of the joints such as gout, arthritis, and sciatica.

 3. Upanaha - A combination of herbal medicine is applied to the affected part and then covered with medicinal leaves. The herbs help in easing the muscles and tendons of the affected part. It relieves pain, reduces swellings and improves mobility in the joint.

 4. Kati vista - In this treatment, medicated oil is pooled into a collar made from dough and then placed on the lower back for a specific amount of time. It strengthens the lower back, lubricates the spine and acts as a muscle pain reliever. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurveda.

Hello lybrate user, pain at the site of accident that occurred in 2008 can be due to some occult intraarticular fracture i. E a fracture that occurred which was not detected, and was inside the joint. These types of injuries occasionally pain years later as arthritic changes occur in the joint. Need to see the x-ray of your hand in anteroposterior and oblique views. Till then use thumb spica for pain control and hot water fomentation twice thrice daily. God bless you.

You're having what is called plantar fascitis, a condition in which the fascia of the foot get inflamed and causes pain. It could also be due to e weakening of the heal bones or a raised uric acid level. I would suggest that you get your vitamin d and uric acid done fasting to know the levels. In the meantime start to wear soft sole footwear and do contrast bath both feet ie dip both feet in hot water for 3 mins and then normal water for 1 min-continue with hot and cold bath alternatively for upto 20 mins 3 times a day. Revert back with blood test reports.

So I just want to know that whether I can continue my gym with the same high intensity as I am very passionate about gym but worried a little now as since 10 weeks has been passed but still pain is there in my back. Although my doctor says that after rest I can continue gym abd make my body as I want. So I request you guys can you help me out please.

MBBS
General Physician, Fatehabad
Hi lybrate-user, Sounds like a simple question but there is are some considerations, Pain level, tolerance to activity, is the surgical site stable. The list of considerations can go on and on so lets imagine we get past all of the physical limitations and now we have to start were we are and how we are. What is the state of your physical being, to start you need to identify imbalances in your physical being, you must first be assessed or assess your self, looking for muscle imbalances and postural dysfunctions and then a well planned corrective exercise program can be established. Please understand that the term "back pain exercise" is a misnomer, let me explain, you would not want to exercise your back pain would you? NO, of course not, then you must have mean what exercises should you do to strengthen my back, well guess what that may not be what you need to do to get pain either. You see regardless of your condition and with in the limitations of your surgery your main focus need to be on getting your body back to a more neutral, more balanced and more stable state in order to insure that the surgery is a success. The best way to insure that is accomplished is to address your muscle imbalances and only do very specific stretches and exercises that are appropriate for you and your current condition and the only way to know what it is that you need to be doing is to assess your body as a whole looking at your posture. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Core Muscles - How To Know If They Are Strong Or Weak?

MBBS, MS - Orthopaedics, Fellowship in Arthroscopy
Orthopedist, Hyderabad
Core Muscles - How To Know If They Are Strong Or Weak?

The core muscles, mainly concentrated around the abdomen, hips, lower back, trunk, and glutes, are indeed a powerhouse that gets you going. The stronger the core muscles, the fitter you stay. Without a proper core strength, a lot of the day to day activities including lifting or bending gets affected. Certain health conditions can weaken the core muscles. But how to know if the core muscles are weak? There are many signs and symptoms associated with weak core muscles.

Mentioned below are some important signs that may be an indication of weak core muscles.

  1. For your posture to be correct, the spine and pelvis need to be stable: The muscles of the lower back and the abdomen does exactly that, ensuring a steady and correct posture. However, when the core muscles weaken, they are unable to provide stability to the spine and the pelvis resulting in a poor posture. Left unattended, poor posture, in turn, can trigger a myriad of complications and discomfort.
  2. The body loses its balance: As already mentioned, the core muscles go a long way in stabilizing the body and helping you to maintain the body balance. You can perform a small test to know if your balance is affected. Close your eyes and stand on one foot. Repeat the procedure with the other foot as well. If you have a developed core, you will be able to hold the position for at least 10 seconds, if not more (both the legs).
  3. A pain concentrated to the lower back: Do not ignore a lower back pain. It could be an indication of your core muscles not being strong enough, especially the ones adjacent to the spine. The weak muscles fail to provide the necessary support to the discs and the vertebrae resulting in pain (mild to severe depending on the severity of the condition) and discomfort. Timely medical intervention may help improve the condition.
  4. Weakness throughout the body: The strong core muscles are an indication of a healthy and fit body. When the muscles start to lose its strength, the entire body gets affected. A person finds it difficult to even lift things. Doing even a small and regular work leaves a person weak and tired.
  5. You can also perform the Hollowing Test to check your core strength: Sit in a comfortable position. Starting breathing in and out. As you breathe out or exhale, try to pull your stomach inwards towards the spine for at least 10 seconds. Unable to pass this test (can't hold the position for 10 seconds) indicates weak core muscles.
  6. You can also try the plank test: Get yourself in a push-up position with the entire body resting on your elbows, arms, and toes. The hip should be level and steady. Failing to stay in this position for 50 seconds is indicative of weak core muscles
