Take hot fomentation avoid long standing while sitting lower back should be well supported with cushion when doing work while sitting on a chair do make use of foot rest do back isometrics- lie down straight, keep a towel roll under your lower back, press it & hold for 3 sec then relax, 10 repetitions twice daily bridging- lying straight fold your knees, raise your back upwards, hold for 3 sec then relax, 10 repetitions twice daily slr- lying straight, raise your leg straight upto 30-45 degrees & hold for 3 sec then relax, 10 repetitions each leg twice daily prone slr- lying on your stomach repeat the same above exercise do spinal extension- lying on your stomach, hands on sides, raise your chest upwards & hold for 3 sec then relax, 10 repetitions twice daily gradually increase the holding time, like from 5th day you can increase holding time to 5 sec.

I have put on weight since two month. Im suffering from severe knee pain. Cant even walk. Pl. Help.

I have put on weight since two month. Im suffering from severe knee pain. Cant even walk. Pl. Help.
1.. Go for fasting once a week. You can go for absolute fasting or rely on a liquid diet to digest ama (toxin). Fasting should be followed by hot fomentation or by taking a bath with lukewarm water or steam bath. 2.. After fasting and fomentation, mix powdered long pepper, black pepper and dried ginger in equal quantities and take 1 teaspoon of this powdered mix with lukewarm water twice a day. This will help you restore your digestive fire. 3.. Take one tablespoon of castor oil before going to bed, once or twice a week. It helps in cleansing ama (toxin) build up and balancing vata. 4.. Mix equal quantities of powdered fenugreek seeds, turmeric and ginger powder. Take one teaspoon daily in the morning and evening. 5.. For dry fomentation of the affected joints, take a cloth and fold it into four, fill it with hot and sand make a potli (bag) out of it. Use this bundle for the fomentation of different joints. This is very helpful in reducing pain and swelling. 6.Warm mustard oil or sesame oil (1 teaspoon) with 3-4 cloves of crushed garlic and 1 tsp of ajwain (carom) seeds until it roasts to a reddish brown colour. Ensure that it does not get burned. Massage this oil on your affected areas. After that do hot fomentation with salt potli (bag). 7. Take 2 tab yograj guggul twice daily with luke warm water chew them well before swallowing. 8.Take 2 tab medohar vati twice daily 30 min after meals.

Dear lybrate-user please do exercise or yoga under yoga practitioner. Don't do self bcoz in sciatica pain, some yoga or exercise causes wrong effect our joints. And please explain which side pain develop left or right. And take homoeopathic treatment. Rhus tox 30/tds for 15 days. These medicine 5-6 globules. Three times in a day for 15 days.

You will have to elaborate your problem as to a detailed discussion of your neck pain which means duration of pain and mode of onset. I would also like to ask you if it is associated with any radiating upper limb pain or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias ( electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. What medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. What physiotherapy exercises you do on a daily basis and if you have done I would like to see latest x rays and mri of cervical spine as well. My Mother is 74 years and suffering from acute Osteoarthritis. She has been on Medical treatment and has also taken Injections giving her temporary relief for about a year and more. The Pain does not subside and she finds it difficult to walk . She does not get the speed like us or in general perspective. Is there any permanent cure or remedy for the same. Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area

I am 50 years old. I am having discomfort in both my calf muscles off and on especially in the evening. I feel better in raised lower limb position during lying down. My blood pressure is normal. My blood sugar is within normal limits. Lipid profile too is within normal limits. I take meals 4 times a day but the time is irregular. Please tell me the causes of discomfort in calf muscle.

In established cases of rheumatoid arthritis dmrd (disease modifying drugs) e. G. Methotraxate, hcqs, lefunomide, saaz etc. Have to be used. They all are toxic drugs & can cause bone marrow depression along with other side effects. They should be taken under medical supervision. Some times steroids may have to used. Kindly adjust the dose to minimum required, to control your symptoms. Have your tests done periodically to rule out any side effects. Kindly show me x rays of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder.

Tennis elbow requires physiotherapy treatment for at least 15 days and tennis elbow strap. Apply ice pack twice a day for next 15 days and take physiotherapy treatment.

Hi doctor. I am having sudden headache and the pain is generally on left side of head and the area above the left eye. The pain is not of common kind of pain which I am feeling. It always started from the left side of head and sometime continue to center and then right side of head to ear. Some time pain is so much that I feel drowsy and water in eyes and as I use computer work my eyes get strained within 2 minutes of interval. Now the pain is increased and felling body pain. Hi Surabhi, Seems u r developing Migraine...u need to star some medicines for it....also avoid the following - 1. late night awakenings - proper sleep of 7-8 hrs 2. too much spicy, oily, chilly food 3. over exposure to heat or cold and dust 4. avoid constipation n acidity - keep ur bowel clear although some herbal medicines might also help you but after proper history taking. Your back pain is due to disc bulge with nerve compression. Your pain is there since 18 months. You have not mentioned whether you obtained any relief after exercise. Exercise is recommended in situations like yours add is highly effective. Since its more than a year, you should consult a pain specialist and get treatment known as epidural steroid injection (read my health tip on non - surgical treatment for sciatica) this treatment will decrease your pain and give you opportunity for physiotherapy. Also follow ergonomic measures at work place. Follow these to get relief. 1. Take anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen round the clock for pain relief 2. Take rest for 3 to 4 days but avoid total bed rest. 4. Do back strengthening and stretching exercises daily once pain is relieved. Do exercises under professional guidance. 5. Apply analgesic cream over back followed by warm fomentation. 6. Keep pillow behind your knees at bedtime. While sleeping on sides keep pillow between 7. Do not bend and lift weights. 8. If back pain is accompanied with radiating leg pain or tingling, numbness or weakness, consult immediately for further queries consult again.

Morning stiffness is quite a common condition. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Any way take caldikind plus (mankind) 1tab odx10days paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days do back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take.

Hi I have a pain in my neck from Saturday. I have consulted a doctor and as per the xray and diagnosis he informed there is a slight tear ( or scratch ) in the disc of upper portion of spinal chord. Just below the neck. I find very difficult to sleep in any position. I have the xray image. Kindly suggest me your best advice. I can send the X ray image as well

If your xray is there can you send me. But as per your pain xray is not suggestive of any type of tear in disc because disc is not visible in xray. And as per my suggestion you should do an MRI of cervical spine to get the confirmation of disc tear. Thanks
