Diabetes: How Homeopathy Can Better Control It?

Diabetes is usually associated with the insulin and glucose absorption of the body. This disease can be of several types and is often referred to as Diabetes Mellitus. It is basically a digestive disorder where the body is not able to transport the glucose absorbed from the food to the cells, due to a lack of proper insulin production. This makes the blood sugar level rise. This is a long term disease that involves metabolism and an imbalance in the blood sugar levels of the body. While type 2 diabetes is the most common with 90% of all cases suffering from this type, type 1 affects roughly 10% of the diabetes patients. Read on to know more about diabetes so that you can control it better:

Type 1 Diabetes: In this kind of diabetes, the body does not produce sufficient insulin, which makes it produce symptoms like increased thirst, frequent urination, blurry vision due to changes in the lens of the eyes and vomiting as well as deep breathing for patients who have reached a very advanced or severe stage. The best treatment plan for this kind of diabetes includes tweaking one's diet to cut out excess fat, salt and sugar. Further, the patient will have to ensure that the glucose levels are monitored and regulated with insulin injections and regular blood tests.

Type 2 Diabetes: When the cells of the body do not react appropriately to insulin it can lead to malfunction. This is a progressive disease that is known to get worse with the passage of time. Patients suffering from this disease usually have to take insulin tablets on a daily basis. The symptoms include fatigue, blurred vision and excessive hunger. The best treatment is to exercise regularly and follow a healthy diet plan. This disease can also increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases and other serious ailments.

Gestational Diabetes: This kind of diabetes affects expecting mothers. If the pregnant patient has high amount of glucose in the body, there is not enough insulin that can transport all the excess glucose to the cells. This can lead to gestational diabetes. Diet and exercise are the best ways to control this condition. It may also lead to complications for the baby at the time of birth.

Prediabetes: Many patients who are suffering from diabetes type 2 often suffer from a condition called prediabetes where the cells of the body start developing insulin resistance. This phase also implies some amount of damage to the heart and circulatory system.

Treating diabetes on time is a matter of regulating and keeping a check on your blood sugar levels even as you maintain your healthy weight and lifestyle with a good diet and exercise.

Classical Homeppathic remedies for diabetes include Uranium Nitricum, Phosphoric Acid, Syzygium Jambolanum and Cephalandra Indica. These medications are either used stand alone or along with other medications as adjunct. Homeopathic medicines look to cure the inherent disorder, and do not have any side effects, thus are safe for diabetics.

Can Homeopathy Cure Infertility in Females?

MD - Homeopathy, BHMS

Can Homeopathy Cure Infertility in Females?

For a married couple, having a child is the next step to completing the family picture. However, for various reasons, some attributed to the male and some to the female, this picture remains incomplete.
Talking to a doctor is one of the best starting points. There could be deep-rooted causes for this issue, and homeopathy aims in treating the root cause and not just infertility. A good homeopath will ask you numerous questions to find out associated symptoms, family history, etc., and then arrive at a remedy that would work best for you. This is a highly customised therapy and so self-medication based on a friend or family member’s recommendation is best avoided.

Infertility in females is often caused by the following reasons:

  1. Irregular menstruation
  2. Hormonal imbalance
  3. Advancing age
  4. Emotional stress
  5. Obesity
  6. Excessive smoking
  7. Alcohol consumption
  8. Sexually transmitted diseases (Chlamydia, gonorrhoea)
  9. Structural abnormalities in the pelvic area including fibroids, pelvic adhesions, blocked fallopian tubes, etc.
  10. Endometriosis
  11. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
  12. Pelvic Inflammatory disease
  13. Thyroid disorders
  14. Diabetes

With more and more women coming out in the open to discuss, researchers have started working towards identifying the problem and working towards the treatment. The success rate of homeopathy in treating infertility is also on the rise. As with any medical condition, homeopathy treats not just the problem or symptom at hand, but the person holistically. Read on to know some of the common homeopathic remedies, but make sure you have a detailed discussion with your doctor to identify what would work best for you. Self-medication is best avoided.

  1. In women with reduced sexual drive, Agnus and Sepia are widely used. The vaginal is extremely dry which could be painful during sex. There is also a bearing down sensation of the uterus in these women.
  2. In women with reduced menstruation, Pulsatilla and Sepia are widely used. The periods are never on the expected date, and when they occur, the flow is quite scanty and suppressed. Pulsatilla is also used when ovarian cysts are present. Sepia is useful in women that are prone to miscarriages.
  3. In women with excessive menstruation, Calcarea and Aletris are widely used. The periods happen before time, is too long with profuse bleeding. This excessive bleeding also causes anaemia, weakness, and fatigue. These women might also have frequent abortions.
  4. In women who have experienced a miscarriage in their third month earlier, with uterine and ovarian inflammation, Sabina is used.
  5. In women who are not able to retain sperms, Natrum carb is useful. There could be an offensive smelling vaginal discharge which is also very irritating and itching.

These are just some of the common remedies, but there are more, and each patient would require different therapy based on associated symptoms. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Homeopath.

Mr. lybrate-user, Following are criteria for diagnosing diabetes: 1) Normal: Fasting:70 to 110 mg/ 100 ml, PP <140 mg & HbA1c% <5.9 2) Pre-diabetes: FBS :108 to 125 mg, PP 141 to 199 mg, HbA1c% 5.9 to 6.4. 3) Diabetes: FBS 126 mg and above, PP 200 mg and above & HbA1c% 6.5 and above. A person with normal glucose level is fine. Nothing needs to be done. In pre-diabetes one can prevent it going over to diabetes by adapting a modified lifestyle- namely regular exercise over 1 hour a day, maintaining normal body weight (BMI <23 kgs/M2) and following healthy habits. No drugs are needed, one can prevent diabetes or postpone it. However, once diabetes is diagnosed (as in your case), there no option but to take drugs to control it. Healthy lifestyle helps in achieving better control along with drugs. Ideally one should maintain FBS below 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. Your blood glucose levels are way beyond the normal limit, if not controlled promptly, there is a possibility of developing long term complications associated with diabetes. So please initiate immediate treatment with appropriate drugs. Thanks.

It appears you have hypothyroidism. When you were taking thyroxine hormone tsh (thyroid stimulating hormone) levels were low. On stopping that levels have gone up. You have to restart the same medicine at same dosage, it must be taken on empty stomach early morning and nothing thereafter for two hrs. Please follow this meticulously for life. On taking treatment you will be able to lose weight, but the intensity of exercise has to increase to more than one hr a day. Also control your diet.

Hi at tsh level of 6.91 milli units/ml, no treatment is advised. Hormone replacement is suggested only once tsh levels cross 10 milli units. Hypothyroidism is a condition occurring due to thyroxine hormone deficiency. This hormone is needed for brain development and normal functioning. Plus it is required for multiple metabolic functions in the body. If that is not made available, then there can be very serious consequences like myxedema. Plus in females when tsh levels are high, conceiving is not possible, fetal development is affected, brain development of fetus is affected, miscarriages occur. So please decide for your self what you want to do. In the world tody, with out taking thyroxine tablets there is no treatment for hypothyroidism.
