Is it true that coconut oil treats the decay of tooth and there is no need of going to dentist
What is procedure to a...
There is no valid data to prove the healing power of coconut oil to treat decay /caries of teeth. It's one of grand mothers home remedies to maintain sparkling teeth. Egyptians used this as s part of beauty regimen where after brushing you take a mouthful of oil and gargle for few minutes .spit it out and massage your teeth and gums for some time .these trends are followed by many celebrities too .but once decayed tooth cannot be healed by oil. It's just of maintenance many follow. Where oil acts like a mouth wash post brushing and massaging of gums helps in rejuvenation due to mechanical stimulation .other than that no scientific proof of healing dental problems.

Stopped gutka 2 months on HOMEOPATHY but no result lot of burning on intake of food what is the difference between oral fibrosis and oral lichen planus.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Oral lichen planus is an ongoing (chronic) inflammatory condition that affects mucous membranes inside your mouth. Oral lichen planus may appear as white, lacy patches; red, swollen tissues; or open sores. These lesions may cause burning, pain or other discomfort. Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF or OSF) is a chronic, complex, premalignant (1% transformation risk) condition of the oral cavity, characterized by juxta-epithelial inflammatory reaction and progressive fibrosis of the submucosal tissues (the lamina propria and deeper connective tissues)

Dental Health Lessons You Can Learn From Your Car

Dental Health Lessons You Can Learn From Your Car

What are you doing for your teeth? Prevention is the best medicine when it comes to taking care of the things you depend on most. Get the most mileage out of your mouth by using these strategies in your dental care routine.

Watch What Gets In Your Grill
A grill on a car keeps harmful things from getting under the hood. Think of your own grill as a filter system for your entire body. Everybody’s mouth is full of germs—some good, some bad. The bad ones can cause cavities and gum disease, which can lead to tooth loss. Severe gum disease is also associated with other medical problems, like diabetesheart disease and stroke.

Keep Your Fuel Tank Full

You wouldn’t put just anything in your fuel tank, so be aware of what you're putting in your mouth. Keep your engine running with a healthy diet full of fruits and vegetables.

Practice Preventative Maintenance
Your car won’t get very far without fresh oil and proper tire pressure. Your teeth also need regular care. Daily brushing and flossing are the best ways to keep your mouth healthy.

Get a Tune Up
Taking your car in for a tune up can extend the life of your vehicle and catch small repairs before they turn into big fixes. Regular visits to your dentist and good dental habits can prevent many dental diseases and will keep you smiling for years to come.

- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser.

The black lesions could be something called melanoplakia. They per se won't cause cancer. However it has been shown that a compound in pan masala called arecholine can cause cancer. Almost 9/10 patients who consume pan masala, tobacco, gutkha will develop cancer sooner or later. So if you stop the habit and take the present medication, things should be fine
