Hot fomentation x twice daily. Neck exercises. Neck stretching. Postural correction. Shoulder shrugs. Core strengthening exercises. Take frequent breaks at work use cervical pillow. Use back support. Self massage the back of neck.

I have leg sprain since 1 month. Visited a doctor and he has provided an ointment. But pain has not reduced. The doctor says muscle weakness and can be cured by exercise. Do I need to go for an X ray.

No need of xray if sprain is there. Use creape bandages. Take hot fermentation. Take physiotherapy treatment too.

It will be better if: 1) you can send me your investigations and prescriptions so that I can see whats been done till now? 2) also kindly tell me whether your symptoms are localized to your back region or you also experience pain in your legs, numbness, paresthesias etc 3) do you take calcium and vitamin d supplementations? and also do you exercise regularly, go for walks and take care of your back? do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Investigate her for anaemia, low vit-b12 and low vit-d3. She may be over burdened by work. Reduce burdon on her.

I am having pain in my knee and back. Last year I had stone in my kidney. Is it has something to do with that? what should I do?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Well renal stone can lead to a severe pain from your lower flank region on one side going towards your groin region. So if you are having that kind of pain, please consult your urologist. But you should not be having any knee pain because the pain will not go till there. Anyways get your urologist opinion done and let me know, I can advise you from an orthopaedic point of view for your back pain and associated knee pain. Hi Apply pranacharya restopain oil or prasarini oil on your affected part then give hot fomentation. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day...take pranacharya vatari syrup and capsule twice a day...And agni tundi vati and maha yograj guggul 1-1 tab twice a day...

They say exercises like mc kenzie can get back the mild disc bulge to its original position how true it is in my case it is L4 L5 1.2 1.3 cms mild bulge? Please help and provide me the name of those exercises which can really help disc to get back to its original position thanks help would a relief to me as im suffering since a year now.

While it may take several weeks or months of regular stretching to see improvement, patients with chronic low back pain often find that better range of motion in their low back leads to relief of their low back pain. Some of the stretching exercises below may help alleviate low back pain. Prior to starting a new exercise program, it is always advisable for patients to first see a spine specialist who is trained in developing individualized back exercise programs and in instructing patients in using the correct form and technique for each exercise. Low back pain exercise regimens will vary widely depending on the patient's diagnosis and level of pain.

My dad undergone mitral valve replacement surgery before 5 months.He is taking acitrom 3mg.Since before a month his both knees were swelling and severe pain.We consulted ortho doctors.Still he has some pain in both knees.What should to do?

Requires examination and investigation in detail. Presently investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d xray of the affected part. Anyway you may try sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform

Hi = relax and stay positive. = increase fluid intake. = eat seasonal fruits for natural vitamins = do streching of hamstring, quadriceps, and calf muscles. = if you are overweight, reduce weight by cycling or swimming as it gives low impact on joints. = do check your calcium and vit. D = apply moist heat pad to affected joint and muscles. Best wishes.
