Dear lybrate user, red eyes could be because of many reasons but commonly it is due to allergy or infection. You need to visit eye specialist to differentiate between the two as the treatment is different. Also get your eyes checked for any glass power

Hello lattice means that area retina is weak. Nothing extra care required except regular retinal check up.

Managing the Acute Red Eye

Managing the Acute Red Eye

A red eye is one of the first and most common symptoms of conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis is the inflammation of the tissue that lies over the white part of the eye and lines the inner side of the eyelid. It is usually the result of a viral infection and can easily spread from one person to another. Conjunctivitis can also be a symptom of STDs like Gonorrhea or Chlamydia. In newborns, conjunctivitis can be vision threatening, while in grownups it is not considered a serious health risk. The symptoms of conjunctivitis differ according to the cause of the infection

Some common symptoms of conjunctivitis are:

  1. Green or white discharge from the eye
  2. Redness of the white part of the eye
  3. Inflammation of the eyelid
  4. Waking up to crusted yellow discharge
  5. Itchiness and burning in the eyes
  6. Increased sensitivity to light
  7. Blurred vision

An eye examination and testing a sample of the fluid secreted by the eye can be used to diagnose conjunctivitis.  It can easily be treated at home and does not require hospitalization. Antibiotics are often given in the form of eye drops and ointments to treat conjunctivitis. These usually need to be applied 3 to 4 times a day for a period of 5 to 6 days. Wash your eyes before putting the eye drops. Once applied, close your eyes and roll the eyeball around to distribute the medicine and keep it from overflowing out of the eye. Wash your hands immediately after applying the eye drops.

Viral conjunctivitis is highly contagious. If you are suffering from it, you should take a few days off work and restrict your social interactions. Wash your hands frequently as you may unconsciously rub your eyes. This is especially important with regards to meals and finger foods. Also, avoid sharing towels, pillowcases, etc. to minimize the transmission of the disease from one person to another.

Avoid using makeup while being treated for conjunctivitis. With conjunctivitis, the eye is more sensitive to irritants and thus, a speck of makeup can worsen the situation. Also avoid contacts. If you wear contacts regularly, dispose the current set and start using a fresh set after your doctor gives you a clean chit.
Artificial tears or non prescription eye drops can also be used to relieve the itchiness and burning in the infected eye. If only one eye had been affected by conjunctivitis, do not use the same eye drop bottle for both eyes.

Here are types, procedures, and benefits of cataract surgery

Hi! I am Dr. S. Bharti, founder and chairman of Bhartiya Foundation and Hospital, which is having two centers, one in East Patel Nagar and the other one is in Greater Kailash and both our centers are NABH accredited. So we are maintaining a very high standard of eye care services in all the super specialty branches of ophthalmology. I am more of an entire segment surgeon and doing more of Cataract surgery including the Laser Cataract Surgery and the Lasik, more of the bladeless. The advantage of Bladeless Cataract Surgery over a normal Phacoemulsification or Phaco Cataract Surgery is that it gives you very precise results along with very quick healing and very early recovery.

The accuracy of the results is much superior as compared to the Phaco Cataract surgery as also the other associated complication and especially it is better in all those cases where Phaco Cataract surgery can create complications like very hard cataracts and very highly mature cataracts or all those kinds of complicated cataracts like subluxated cabinets where Phaco sometimes is not possible.

Similarly, Lasik is a technology to remove glasses for young people and I have been doing Lasik for last 30 years. Over a period of time Lasik has evolved a lot and the new technology, the Bleed Blade free Lasik is the way to go now because it gives similarly it gives a very accurate results and also good quality or superior quality vision as compared to original early Lasik and now with the advent of the ablation profiles Lasik has become sometimes it gives you a superior quality vision as compared to contact lenses or glasses.

Thank you very much and you can get in touch with me on lybrate.com

I start get itching when I drive on bike and if it's a bit windy and air passes though body and skin while driving. It really itches and by the time I reach home it spreads across the body and sometimes there are red rashes all over. To get some relief I usually take bath with hot/ warm water and feel better. There is no other pattern to it. This is more prevalent in months when it's rainy season in Bangalore and winter months of Dec and Jan. Also it does not happen every time I go outside on bike. Certain times and some days. It goes off and and there are no scares left anywhere on the body. Ankur 988080082.

There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 25 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.
