According to most experts, Depression and Diabetes have been intricately connected in a vicious cycle. While the prolonged and sustaining nature of diabetes directly makes one vulnerable to the bouts of depression, doctors tend to locate traces of depression in the family history of an individual in order to diagnose the roots of diabetes. It won't be too far-fetched to state that both causes as well as affects the other.

If you have diabetes, either type 1 or type 2, you have an increased risk of developing depression. And if you're depressed, you may have a greater chance of developing type 2 diabetes. The good news is that diabetes and depression can be treated together. And effectively managing one can have a positive effect on the other.

How Diabetes and Depression Correlated?                    
There are myriad ways in which diabetes affects depression and vice versa.

Firstly, tackling such a long drawn disease and its various pitfalls might cause a lot of anxiety to one and lead to depression. Whereas on the other hand, depression reduces the zeal to live and thus results in poor lifestyle choices which in turn causes weight gain, unhealthy food habits, physical inactivity. As we are well aware, all these have the potential to wreak havoc for any patient of diabetes. 

Similarly, diabetes ushers in various other health complications, adversely impacting one's productivity. This may cause depression in a lot of people. 

On the flipside, depression impedes one's ability and enthusiasm to work or communicate, this in turn intervenes with one's monitoring of diabetes. Since these two extremely malevolent diseases have such close connections, medical science recommends ways to grapple with both. The rigors of managing diabetes can be stressful and lead to symptoms of depression.

Diabetes can cause complications and health problems that may worsen symptoms of depression.

Depression affects your ability to perform tasks, communicate and think clearly. This can interfere with your ability to successfully manage diabetes.

Treatment: Depression is just like any other illness, it can be treated. Treatment can lift the depression and improve diabetes control.

Looking after your diabetes will help decrease the risk of getting depression. If you already have depression, good diabetes management will help lessen the negative impacts it can have. Depression is no different to any of the other complication of diabetes. It is a genuine illness for which you need to seek help and support from health professionals.

The treatment for depression and diabetes involves a coordinated approach that monitors both diabetes control and the symptoms of depression. It is about finding the treatment that works best for each person. For example, people with diabetes and mild depression may find that regular physical activity improves depressed moods and also helps control blood glucose levels.

Hi lybrate-user Excess fat deposit on tummy area is due to insulin and glucagon hormone imbalance. To lose tummy fat you should avoid starchy and sugary food exm. Chapati, rice, bread, potato. lybrate-user I don't think you are under weight at this age 47 kg. Is normal. If you don't any problem like weakness or fever then no need to be worried. So also Diet plan depends on Whether you r veg. Or Non. Veg.Apart from normal food intake (assuming you are not taking junk foods pizzas and cakes Pastries). Have a glass of milk with Banana in every day diet .Along with your Roti Subji and Dal and include Soup S in your diet. Hope so it's helpful to you.

The vitamin supplements are required only when your diet is not adequate, you need a excess of a certain vitamin or if you have any digestion defect like if anyone undergoes a stomach surgery. If you are non vegetarian take fish mainly mackerel, sardine ,salmon. If you are vegetarian take walnuts.

My daily diet is- 8 a.m - biscuit / bengal gram 10 a.m - rice 1cup+ butter/ roti 2 pc Veg curry 12 noon - banana / any fruits 2 pm - rice 2 cup + dal+ fish / egg curry (sometime chicken) 6 pm - chawmin / puffed rice with pakora/ fast foods any 10.30 pm - rice 1 cup + dal + potato / veg curry I do home tuitions, most of the time spend in home. Hi lybrate-user, That's another myth that vitamins don't functions after any time. Our human body is really smart and capable of doing many things. Vitamin D refers to a group of fat-soluble secosteroids so just keep in mind that have it with a meal which contains fat. For example - Boiled eggs, omellete etc! Thank you!

Hi Mr. lybrate-user, Primarily Homeopaths ascertain health status by symptoms, and not all doctor do that only. I will examine as any allopath do. We send patient to investigations as needed (any lab or radiology). Medicine is an art, every doctor will have his own style in due course. At the end patient has to weigh the results given by the doctor only.

Dear lybrate-user, After doing Yoga and exercise you can have breakfast after 10-15 minutes. Millk and regular Indian breakfast, will do. You can sip water in between the exercise if you are thirsty.

Hi though I am slim but my lower cheeks are heavy in appearance hence face does not look in proportion also there is double chin. My Jawline is also not well defined. Try to control thyroid problem fast. You should see a good endocrinologist and get investigated for other hormonal imbalances. Try doing facial exercises like chewing etc.

Hello To increase your weight it is very imp to increasing appetite. Do kapalabhati to regulate body metabolism and appetite. Eat more than your usual calorie intake as this is the simplest way to gain extra kilos. Eat a lot of protein rich food, dairy products, starchy food, eg. Beans, pulses, eggs, fish, and meat and also potato, almonds, low-fat cheese and yoghurt. Never skip meals. Avoid fats like red meat, margarine etc as they are bad for the health of your heart.

Follow these best methods to easily gain weight and get a healthy body - * To gain weight, First take a diet rich with proteins and fats. You should take high calories food that increase your muscle mass and induce growth in bones. Follow The diet chart in your daily life to fastly gain weight * In morning, take a glass of milk added with 2 teaspoons of Bournvita or complan powder with breakfast. * After 2 hours of breakfast, Take 2 bananas or a bowl of boiled soyabeans. To increase your hunger & proper digestion of food - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after lunch * In lunch time, take 1 bowl of curd or 100 gm of cheese, a bowl of vegetable, with chapattis. You can take 2 bowl of Careals (Moong/Chana Daal) on the place of curd or cheese. * In evening, take 1 glass of milk (300 ml) with 10-12 pieces of Dry fruits or 3-4 pieces of Dates (khajoor). * In night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. 3. In morning, get up early and take awalk for 10-15 minutes and exercise light weight exercises for at least 30 minutes at home or gym. Exercise is very important so that muscles gain mass from the heathy diet. 4. For proper weight, proper sleep is very important. So you should sleep for 6-8 hours daily. 5. Hello, Fats doesn't disappear from a particular spot, it will go away from the, places where it is maximum. You need to work on your overall body fat.
