Hello, Thanks for the query. Hypthyroidism is unlikely to cause high blood pressure. During the course of investigation it might have detected. Both need to be treated. Thanks.

Is it possible to cure / control thyroid with diet or with and medicine. I am aged 28.

Nutrition - Management of Weight & Lifestyle Related Disorders
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Delhi
Yes you should control thyroid if you will take proper medicine and will follow the dietary pattern and do deep breathing and meditation. Include a variety of foods from carbohydrate, proteins, vegetables and fruits. Take frequent and small meals with fewer calories to keep the metabolism working. At least 8-10 glasses of water a day to overcome water retention which is generally associated with hypothyroidism. Avoid Iodine-suppressing foods like cabbage, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, soybeans, and turnips.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Since she is on treatment for hypothyroidism, it is important to check TSH level periodically. Because if TSH is not in the expected range (2 to 3 mU/L), then most of the symptoms come back. So please check that first. If the level is higher than mentioned, then increase the dose of thyroxine. Presence of swelling shows hypothyroidism is not in control. Thanks.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. Your latest thyroid function test is indicative of hypothyroidism which needs to be controlled well. Advise consult an experienced endocrinologist asap for further traction in this regard. Again, your USG report presenting with endometrial thickness, bulky ovary with PCOS etc all are indicative of hormonal imbalance that needs to be suitably addressed too. You need to consult your OB/ GYN in this regard who can suitably consult in this aspect. In the meantime, do keep you diet & lifestyle streamlined and stay well hydrated. De-stress and relax daily. Hope this helps. You can connect for a naturopathic integrative traction of the issues anytime. Do take care, and all the very best. Sincerely,

lybrate-userji, Thanks for the query. When on treatment with levothyroxine for hypothyroidism, it is necessary to maintain TSH <3 mU/L. Then only one is free from all the symptoms of that condition. Therefore, present level of 1.33 mU/L is really good. There is no need to reduce the dose of thyroxine that you are taking. You should check TSh once in 3 to 6 months to see if it in the desired range. If level goes below 0.5 mU/l then dose may have to be reduced to 12.5 mcg per day. Thanks.

Homeopathy treats the person as a whole. This means that homeopathic treatment focuses on the patient as a person, as well as his pathological condition. The Homeopathic thyroid treatment medicines are selected after a full individualizing examination and case-analysis, which includes the medical history of the patient, physical and mental constitution etc. A miasmatic tendency (predisposition/susceptibility) is also often taken into account for the treatment of chronic conditions. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. It is better to give a gap of about 4 hours before you take the "gastritis" medicine. Then there will be no affection to absorption of thyroxine. Thanks.

There is any homeopathy tablet to reduce my thyroid level from 4.49 to 2.00 ml Please do name the tablet. Thanks.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Hypothyroidism is a hormone deficiency disorder. Here thyroid gland is not producing enough or almost nil hormone. This hormone (Thyroxine) is required every day for all metabolic functions in the body. If not supplemented then all the symptoms of hypothyroidism are seen troubling the person. Therefore, only treatment to reduce TSH level is taking Thyroxine tablets in adequate quantity. There is no other medicine in any alternative medical branches. Plus you are a young lady, post marriage conception or fertility depends on maintaining TSH <3 mU/L. So my suggestion is take adequate dose of levothyroxine tablet. If you have any doubts please come back. Thanks.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. TSH 24.3 is very high, suggesting uncontrolled hypothyroidism. It means your current dosage of thyroxine too less, needs to be increased. If you allow the level to remain high, then all the symptoms of hypothyroidism will be back in full. Thanks.

I am 21 years old Male. I have thyroid problem. Today I went for test. In blood test, the result is 24.3 of TSH test. What does it mean? M I alright? Or not? Can it be cure with homeopathy?

MD- Homoeopathy
Homeopath,
A TSH level of 24.3 indicates you are suffering from hypothyroidism that is your thyroid gland is functioning slower than normal. You have mentioned that you are on medication I.e.thyrox how many mcg is the tablet? Yes homoeopathic medicines are useful in hypothyroidism. Avoid diet rich in cauliflower, cabbage or broccoli as it interferes with your gland function. Also increase your protein intake in form of sprouts, Dals etc.
