January is around the corner and along comes a new year with its numerous resolutions and promises on improving ourselves. Be it the latest diet or the promise to workout we all want to look and feel our best. If your dental resolution is to stop living with a yellow smile then here's a combination of home remedies and dental treatment tips to make you smile bright and white this new year.

Depending on the existing colour of your teeth and how bright you want your teeth to be, we have here some options ranging from the mildest to the most impactful colour change.

#1. Light yellow teeth: clean better!

Plaque and other food deposits can make your teeth look unclean and discolored. Most often the original white of your teeth can be restored by a simple clean up procedure that washes away all the discolored food particles.

#2. Yellow to brown teeth: eat better!

An indian diet with turmeric coupled with our addiction to anything from tea, green tea, coffee, red wine to even smoking can lead to excessive staining of our teeth. Malic and citric acid present in strawberries and lime respectively gives an instant whitening effect without harming the natural layers of the teeth.

#4. Frequent yellowing: brighten at home

If you're looking for more than just a natural clean white colour but want it done with as little chemical exposure as possible then home bleach is the best option for you. Removable, transparent, custom made plastic moulds of your teeth can be made in just one session. You can then put in a few drops of a low concentration gel bleach into these as they snugly fit onto your teeth. Keep them in the mouth for 45 minutes daily for up to 7 days. This procedure is done as directed by a registered dentist. This gives you a bright white colour with minimal or no side effects and the additional benefit is that it can be repeated just before an occasion or every time you feel there is yellowing of teeth.

#5. Brilliant white: in under an hour!

If you want nothing less than super bright then a very standard and recognized procedure is that of the office bleach done in the dental chair in under 45 minutes. Here we use a more concentrated bleach to get you noticeable and long lasting results. Done in cycles every 10-15 minutes to show you the colour improvement and prevent side effects and discomfort. Certain precautions must be observed for 7 days after the bleach and it is recommended once annually to maintain the colour.

A word of caution for the over the counter products that claim to work brilliantly to whiten teeth but overuse or unsupervised use of the same may lead to irreversible tooth damage.

Are you the one who lives on burgers or packaged foods? well, then it's time for you to check your diet. These delicious food items that you die for contain excess carbohydrates and unhealthy fats that are extremely dangerous for your health. Now, when excess sugar is produced in the body due to intake of fast foods, the balance between insulin and glucagon is hampered and the level of sugar in bloodstream changes. Consequently, you develop type 2 diabetes.

Check your weight and heart: the added sugars and unsaturated fats in the fast foods lead to obesity. You consume more calories and as a result of which your body weight increases. This is quite dangerous for your health. Under such circumstances, you tend to develop chronic heart diseases due to the increasing levels of cholesterol in your body.

Your kidney is at risk: fast foods often contain excess salt. The intake of fast foods changes the level of sodium in the body. Sodium is responsible for maintaining the fluid content in the body. Increasing fluid levels due to intake of excess sodium in the form of salt exerts pressure on the heart muscle and causes high blood pressure. Besides, excess sodium also damages the kidney.

How to effectively handle work related stress

The statistics on stress at workplace are staggering with half of respondents in studies reporting that they face higher than normal stress levels at work. Hello- You are suffering from premature ejaculation. Since you are in your late 40's the condition might be due to your weak metabolism and health. It can be corrected with proper medications, brisk exercise schedule and dietary enhancements.

Hello- There is nothing wrong in your penis, the thing that needs to be corrected is your dressing style. Place the penis in underwear in its most comfortable position, wear briefs instead of trunks for proper positioning and wear loose outer clothes for proper ventilation on genital areas. Your problem will be solved.

Hello- Certain factors like excessive/improper masturbation, smoking, improper sleep schedule, rash diet etc leads to thinning /reduced growth of the penis. You would recall my symptoms as reported to you in Renukoot @ Sept/Dec 2007 and there after on mails. By & large all the previous symptoms still persists and I have never come out of the same ever, as on date. Your Diagnosis was--Hypertension/Hiatus hernia/IBS Medications were Amplopress-Z 1OD Tenoric 1OD Serlift 25 mg 1OD cap omez-D 1BD Mucaine gel Altiva-D, then replaced by Alerid-D and finally Feliz S plus in the night After I left Renukoot since I was not directly in touch with you, lately I tried Homeopathic. The good homeopath also tried various good medicines for last 1 year or so particularly for Lower GI tract and to increase the mortality of rectum for removing the trapped Gases/hard stool in the large intestine ,but unfortunately they are also not working for me. Hence I am back to the square one. My current symptoms are by & large the same as you saw in Renookut. Rather it has taken more sever form. My daily routine has come to a standstill and not able to go to work anymore. I am at home only trying to somehow get rid of the stupid health problem Symptoms as on date Severe back head pain/biting sensation at the time of wake up Severe sprain/strain/biting in neck and shoulders/entire back. This feeling is giving me fears of how I will sustain my Job or continue working. Please note that the problem starts in the early morning since wake up and persists the whole day. It is severe since early morning and peaks till Lunch. after Lunch I am forced to go to bed lying down pressing the pillow on stomach side, so as to expul the trapped gases since last night/morning. Feel slightly better after the gases comes out in 1 hour of lying down in bed. The story doesn't end here. The 2nd cycle of Lunch gases starts build up and gives the same symptoms. Again & again. So the 24 hr cycle continues. After trying various medications over a period of long time---I feel I have got depression clubbed with Lower GI severity where in gases/hard stools are trapped and creates all the issues. Please Let me know your diagnosis and suggest the best medication to get rid of this chronic problem Once for all. I am taking the following medication now-- Pentose-D-before B/F (since I do not have any acid reflux, please let me know whether this medicine is needed or not.) Nebistar SA 1OD cardace 1OD Lipvas 20 mg for cholesterol Feliz S plus in the night Aloe vera Gel with fibre-2 times/day Note--{As long as the stomach is Bloated & is full of gases, the back head/neck and shoulder is terrible and the moment the gases evacuate/expelled the head/neck/shoulders etc become completely light, Hence it will be very important to focus on how to eliminate the bloating/gases/hard stools/and symptoms of strain/depression} Look forward to your valuable advice immediately.

Hi Lybrate user as I read all your saying and suffering and medicine you have taken and what you are doing to relieve your symptoms all day and you want to get rid of these symptoms. First I let you know that you are suffering with irritable bowel syndrome ,but problem is that more than 70℅population suffering from this but they are not aware of it. It is not a disease to be cured but it is a condition which is due to depression and stressful conditions in our life which give arise these symptoms, once these symptoms occurs in patients life he focused on these symptoms and thus he increasing these symptoms more and sometimes when some conditions and seasonal changes inhance your depression and anxiety your symptoms get increased. So I suggest you that first you know the root cause of your problems is your mental state. Second you need symptomatic treatment of your problems. In Ayurveda I will suggest you to take some medicine and meditation and pranayam, specific exercise and thus you will be able to cure your problems completely. I will advice you to take boil vegetables as much as you can ,avoid sugar and tea and coffee as much as you can. Cure is possible, consult me as soon as possible.
