I am 39 years old female and frequently attacked by migraine headche. Is there any permanent solution for this?

MD - Pathology
General Physician, Amritsar
Try to find out the trigger in your case. Maintain a diary . whenever you have migraine just take a note of what all you are that day and what you did? After sometime try to find out a common factor and try avoiding that. Usually it is cheese, chocolate, fasting, poor sleep, loud music, dim light. If you have more than 2 attacks in a month or attacks are debilitating, then start preventive treatment, see a psychiatrist

Hello. Immediately have his check up done in some hospital. Don't take head issue lightly as internally if some severe injury is present it comes up slowly (sometimes). Regards!

Dear Virendra, 1.You have thought about both success and failure. 2.You have stopped studying and took up job. 3, You have no problem with your job. All these are good coping methods you use. Continue them. Studying as such might not have caused pain in brain. It is the nervousness and stress that would have made your brain pain. So when you are prepared for further non stressful studies, you can study.

What is the meaning of sclerosis along the anterior aspect of si joints? Is it hardening of the bones or tissues surrounding si joints? Please help me. I am worried a lot.

General Physician,
What is the meaning of sclerosis along the anterior aspect of si joints?
Is it hardening of the bones or tissues surr...
Any condition that alters the normal walking pattern places increased stress on the si joints. This could include a leg length discrepancy (one leg longer than the other), or pain in the hip, knee, ankle, or foot. Patients with severe pain in the lower extremity often develop problems with either the lower back (lumbar spine) or si joints. Usually, if the underlying problem is treated, the associated lumbar spine or si joint dysfunction will also improve. There are many disorders that affect the joints of the body that can also cause inflammation in the si joints. These include gout, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. These are all various forms of arthritis that can affect all joints. Ankylosing spondylitis is an inflammatory arthritis that always affects the si joints. It can lead to stiffness and severe pain in the si joints, due to inflammation in the sacroiliac joints (sacroiliitis). As the disease process continues, the si joints can fuse together and have no range of motion. Once this occurs, there is no further pain associated with the si joints. Rarely, bacterial infection can involve the sacroiliac joints you need a check up.

I have numbness in my both hand as well as in my toes I have done blood test for sugar which was normal.

Hi Thanks for your query. We will have to rule out a vascular cause for it and I advise you to get an opinion from a general surgeon/Vascular surgeon for it because it is difficult for any spine condition to cause numbness in both Upper and Lower Limbs. In any case please also let me know if you have any neck/ Back issues as well. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & Regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena

I a suffering from facial paralysis from last 1 month consult with many doctors but not recover till now.

MSc in Orhopedic Physiotherapy (UK), BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
Often, no treatment is needed for facial palsy. Symptoms often begin to improve right away. However, it may take weeks or even months for the muscles to get stronger, and this may be frustrating. Facial nerve palsy causes temporary partial paralysis of facial muscles. Without treatment, recovery occurs for nearly all patients within one year and many patients recover within one month. Many patients chose to use physiotherapy treatment to help progress their recovery. If you want to use physiotherapy, you can choose to try bell's palsy facial exercises electrical stimulation manual massage kabat rehabilitation most cases go away completely within a few weeks to months. If you did not lose all of your nerve function and symptoms began to improve within 3 weeks, you're more likely to regain all or most of the strength in your facial muscles. Please consult a physiotherapist nearby for rehab. Best wishes.

My father died of parkinsonism, also one cousin is having it. How sure is I may suffer from it?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Only about 10 percent of Parkinson’s cases have been linked to a genetic cause. Most cases of Parkinson’s are called idiopathic or sporadic, meaning the cause is unknown, and researchers believe onset is due to a combination of genetic and environmental factors. If your father acquired PD after 40ies then probability chances for you acquiring this disease are even less.

My child is having minor Epilepsy. He is taking Keppra 250 daily twice. Since November 2014. Since he started taking medicine. He is fine. I just want to know that now almost 1 and a half year is being completed. So should I continue this medicine or should I go to doctor again to confirm.

MD Paediatrics, MBBS

Your neurologist should be able to answer your query well, initially you need to reduce the dosage and see, if no seizures you can further reduce the dose and gradually taper the dose and stop. Ifno epileptic attacks. Also get an eeg done.

Now a days I am again getting this type of headache. Is this due to the previous symptoms ?what should I do? And also I am always filled with anxiety and depression is this due to this? Kindly suggest me solution.

If you have recurrent attack of headache1. It could be a tension headache due to anxiety/stress, depression inadequate sleep, low bp/high bp, migraine, prolonged use of cell phone/computer, chronic anaemia, refractive error, chronic sinusitis, organic brain lesion 2. Avoid stress, physical and mental exertion, have adequate sound sleep for 7-8 hours daily in the night 3. Go for regular exercise 4. Practice yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise to calm your mind, control your emotion and relieve stress 5. Check for refractive error, sinusitis hemoglobin, bp 6. Avoid prolonged use of cell phone/computer 7. Consult neurologist to rule out other causes of headache, if required take a ct scan /mri of brain to exclude any brain lesion 8.
