If there has been NO sex in May then there is nothing to worry. Just relax and the menses will appear. If you are anxious do a urine pregnancy test on a early morning sample in lab and see. If negative, just wait for some days for menses to come or consult a gynecologist to get medicines for menses

The normal range is 44 to 147 IU/L (international units per liter). Normal values may vary slightly from laboratory to laboratory. They also can vary with age and gender. High levels of ALP are normally seen in children undergoing growth spurts and in pregnant women. So nothing to worry For urine you need to take correct antibiotic.

I AM NOW 51 do I have a risk of developing Alzheimer's or memory loss. Please guide.

I AM NOW 51 do I have a risk of developing Alzheimer's or memory loss. Please guide.
Alzheimer's disease is a neurological disorder in which the death of brain cells causes memory loss and cognitive decline Alzheimer's is caused by brain cell death. 3 It is a neurodegenerative disease, which means there is progressive brain cell death that happens over a course of time. Risk factors for developing the condition include aging, a family history of Alzheimer's, and carrying certain genes. Symptoms are - Repetitive questions or conversations Misplacing personal belongings Forgetting events or appointments Getting lost on a familiar route. "Poor understanding of safety risks Inability to manage finances Poor decision-making ability inability to plan complex or sequential activities Inability to operate simple implements, or orient clothing to the body. "Out-of-character mood changes, including agitation; less interest, motivation or initiative; apathy; social withdrawal There is no known cure for Alzheimer's disease - the death of brain cells in the dementia cannot be halted or reversed. There is, however, much backing for therapeutic interventions to help people live with Alzheimer's disease more ably. Some options may reduce its symptoms and help improve quality of life. So if you are having any of these above symptoms do consult a neuropsychiatrist. Have a great day.

I am 67 years old .I am suffering with backache right side & arm upto elbow. It pains when on bed & while changing side or getting up. Almost no pain while walking, for four months.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned pain in neck region as your main problem. It is at your age spine starts showing signs of degeneration with some impingement of nerves. If there is only localized pain in neck region with no other associated symptoms like radiating pain, numbness, paresthesias etc, and no systemic symptoms like fever, loss of appetite, loss of weight etc, my advice to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - to maintain proper posture of your neck while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or even tab paracetamol which suits you - intensive physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied 3-4 times in a day - analgesic spray for local application like dynapar qps spray can be used and is easily available. If there is no improvement in 2-3 weeks with this conservative management, we will need to evaluate her further in form of dynamic x rays to look for any instability as a cause for pain and some blood investigations to rule out any deficiencies etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Hi, Thanks for writing in, welcome to the forum. This certainly looks like something that needs attention. Counseling seems like a good place to start. If it is relatively mild, a few counseling sessions should sort out the matter. If needed, at a later stage, a psychiatrist's consultation may be considered. Please emphasize to your friend that he needs to meet people and talk to them even if he may not feel like doing so. He should also not neglect his food and sleep. If possible, adding physical exercise would be an excellent idea. Take care!

Dear lybrate user, one of the major nutritional substance required for human body is carbohydrate. We take carbohydrate in the form of rice, wheat, sugar etc. The complex molecules of carbohydrate are broken down into simple glucose molecules during digestion & released in the blood stream to be absorbed by the muscle cells. Muscle cells utilise the glucose molecules to release energy by breaking down those glucose molecules. Insulin hormone plays a vital role in the absorption of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells. In abnormal conditions, either due to less production of insulin or due to resistance to insulin, the process of absorption of glucose by the muscles comes to a stand still. The glucose molecules remains in the bloodstream which results in the increase in the blood sugar level. The failure of utilisation of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells results in production of less energy than normal condition. This is externally manifested as the fatigue & tiredness of the patient. This excess amount of blood sugar compels the kidney to function more than normal level in order to excrete the blood sugar molecules through urine. As a result the patient suffers from frequent urination. This abnormal condition is clinically known as diabetes mellitus. Once a patient is diagnosed with diabetes he has to take regular medicine to keep his blood sugar level within normal limits. However, the patient does not need to take medicine unless his/her post. Prandial blood sugar level reaches 200. If post. Prandial blood sugar level reaches 200 then patient can take homoeopathic mother tincture gymnema sylvestra q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. Along with intake of medicines the patient need to walk at least 1 hour daily without any interval. In order to decrease the intake of carbohydrate in diet the patient should avoid rice, sweet dishes, fruits, cold drinks, fast foods, alcoholic beverages, potato etc.

1. Maintain your body weight. 2. Do not fast/ don't have a long break in meals. Instead of having three big meals, start 5-6 frequent but small meals. 3. Do regular light exercise along with meditation. 4. Take more sprouts. 5. Instead of pure curd, take diluted curd mixed with cucumber, onion (raayta). 6. Use cow milk and its products. 7. In fruits, you may take papaya, apple, orange, pear, jamun, guava in average quantiy. 8. Soyabean chunks, dal, and atta is good. 9. Sabudana khichri is good in breakfast. 10. Curd made by methi seeds is good (boil the milk with methi seeds and make curd of this).

When such disbalance happens, it can lead to many predictable and unpredictable, recognisable and unrecognisable problems in the body. The swelling may be one of the side effects of this. Please take steps urgently to change your lifestyle so that your weight comes down, you become fitter and these kind of problems that you face are over. Drink a glass of water every hour of the day. Hi lybrate-user here are some changes to make to improve your eating habits: - incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your diet while eliminating unhealthy foods. - if you are working or studying away from home, try to pack healthy lunch and snacks for yourself to avoid eating unhealthy food daily. - don't eat straight from the packet - use a plate or bowl to control how much you eat. - don't delay or skip meals. - cut down your consumption of aerated drinks and sodas. - drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Drink water after waking up and before sleeping. Being dehydrated may make you feel like you're hungry, so it is important to stay hydrated. - have homemade fruit and vegetable juices - eat 5-6 small healthy meals every 2-3 hours, every day, instead of having a few big ones. This regulates your blood sugar level and your metabolism. - don't skip breakfast, instead, make it rich with complex carbohydrates and proteins, so it can provide you with energy to get through the day. Try to include the following as your morning breakfast, oats porridge, eggs on multigrain toast or daliya with sprouts. - avoid artificial sweeteners in processed foods. - eat slowly as it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register if you're full or not. Eating too fast leads to overeating, so chew slowly to digest your food better and control how much you eat. - use a smaller plate to control your portion sizes and avoid overeating. - know your cravings and do not snack when you're emotional. It is said that you crave crunchy and savory food when you're stressed, frustrated or lonely. Figure out what you crave and replace them with healthier alternatives. - do not eat mindlessly; concentrate on your food instead of watching tv or playing with your phone to avoid overeating.
