Smoking or consuming smokeless tobacco is very harmful for your teeth. It can lead to various oral diseases like oral cancer, gingivitis, periodontitis and tooth decay.

I'm 16 yr old & I has a bad impression on my teeth myself. My gums is very weak & when I eat apple r guava then I have a little bit blood bleading. Even when I touch it, then blood starts it flow. So please help me to get good & strong teeth (white)

Hi it is nothing but gingivitis. Get scaling done first (professional teeth cleaning) and massage your gum with a gum paint like sensoform, astrigum etc. And follow proper method of brushing. Within a month, you will find your gums healthy & teeth strong.

Hi sir, you would be suffering from generalized periodontitis which is the inflammatory diseases affecting the tissues that surround and support the teeth. It involves progressive loss of the bone around the teeth, and if left untreated, can lead to the loosening and subsequent loss of teeth. So, get scaling & root planing done first. If you are a diabetic, check your blood glucose levels and keep it under control (since diabetics are more prone for periodontitis). You might need surgical procedures if the condition is very severe. But, initially get scaling & root planing done.

You can exercise for healthier gums as well. Gently bite down so as to make sure that your teeth make a clinking sound when they meet. Repeat this 30 to 40 times continously. This exercise will stimulate the flow of blood and will keep your gums healthy.

Tongue cleaning is as important as brushing and flossing. Use of a proper tongue scraper every morning will remove tongue plaque and freshen your breath.

Consuming sugary food in a huge quantity can be harmful for the teeth as the bacteria present in dental plaque changes them into acids.

Rinsing your toothbrush thoroughly after using it everyday is necessary so as to remove all the leftover waste. Doing so will make it germ-free and healthy to use. Also, let it air-dry before using it again.

If taken care at the right time, gum diseases can be reversed easily. By getting the accumulated tartar and plaque removed from the teeth, you can get rid of the gum diseases, reversing it in its initial stage itself.

Taking a large no. of medications often leads to a dry mouth. Increase your fluid intake or ask your dentist about an artifical saliva product or chew sugarless gum after a meal to keep your mouth moist.
