Hi Managing diabetes with insulin needs some education regarding how to adjust the insulin dose, about the type of insulin your taking, how to manage when the blood sugars are low or high and diet as well. You need a consultation to discuss the same. As of now it looks like her insulin dose is high. Please do not stop the insulin as the blood sugars are settling and if stopped can shoot up the blood sugars. The dose has to be adjusted gradually and may be stopped if she has repeated low blood sugars.

Dont worry about your child. He is perfectly all right. Just give him any normal diet of his age, nothing specific. Like mashed bananas, curd, cerelac, mashed apple, papaya. To name a few.

Dear friend, a proper measure for knowing and managing your diabetes will be to ensure a hba1c below 6.5%. Regarding diet, we indians have high carbohydrate diet. You have to closely observe your plate and you can come up with a better diet plan for yourself. To simplify it, identify the items which are carb rich in your plate and try to compensate the same with protein and fibres, for eg cut down a roti and increase sabji, dal or salad. To have a better control you can do a monthly self glucose monitoring 3 times a day and keep a track of the food with it. Check fasting sugar, sugar one hour prior to lunch and 2 hrs post lunch, and note down the details of her breakfast and lunch items. Modify as per my earlier suggestions and within a week you will see your blood sugar level responding. Keep a regular exercise schedule, around 45 mins walk would also do. Best of luck. Please note self glucose monitoring and diet control is the only way to manage diabetes.

His diabetes is not properly controlled. Diabetes affects all organs in the body ? Eyes, kidneys, nerves, reproductive system all are affected, In fact, from toe to hair. For diabetic control, patient should be under proper guidance for regular follow up and advice. It is not as easy task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolised to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (Self-Monitoring of Blood glucose ? SMBG). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of Fasting sugar (FBS) and 2 hours after food (PPBS), & HbA1C (inform me) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ Insulin will be needed. There are different diet plans of varying calories for each person depending on his activity & lifestyle.

it may be due to hormonal imbalance, quickly eating a meal on the run:-when you eat quickly, the hormone your stomach sends to let your body know that you’re full doesn’t have time to trigger, preventing you from ever feeling full. Sleep Deprivation:- when your body hasn’t had adequate rest, it becomes more difficult to produce the hormone leptin, which is responsible for allowing your body to feel full. Sleep deprivation also leads to an increase in the production of the hunger inducing hormone ghrelin. due to peer pressure, due to skipping breakfast, due to chew gum, dehydration, taking soda, eating processed foods and due to stress too.so,first take proper diet, don't skip meal, avoid stress,

I am a patient of DM, IHD, PPM, HTN. taking regular medicines. What will be my ideal diet? My age is 72 years.

I hope every condition is under control. Ideal diet is not according to charts. You eat according to your constitution without comparing with others. No sugar or sweets, no bad fats, only good fats like a spoon of pure ghee/ butter and a katori of assorted nuts. Minimal salts and no packaged food as it contains lots of salt, being a preservative. Lemon juice with honey but cut down on other calories (just 30 cals in a spoon of honey) it helps to burn the fat and sugar. Fruits like guava, orange, apple can be had. Exercise like walking also burns sugar and fats.

You need to take antidiabetic drugs if your blood sugar levels are very high like more than 250. Take diabetic diet according to diabetic diet chart and do regular exercise for 30 minutes daily in morning or evening. Reduce your weight atleast 5 kg. All these will help controlling blood sugar.

This much of sugars can be controlled by 3 ways 1) life style modifications I mean she needs to do 30 min of exercise regularly like swimming, brisk walking etc this will decrease insulin resistance 2) she should eat diabetic diet 3) change of medicine I thing she should add newer drugs called gliptins to it just a single tab will take her sugars normal.

Hello Sir, I have been suffering from severe ache in left heel. I couldn't walk for a few steps when I get out from bed in the morning. I have been taking pain killers and applying volini, hot and cold packs. But the ache is aggravating rather than diminishing. I do suspect either Plantar or Heel spur. please guide me further. Does diabetes have such symptoms only in one leg?

Try few home remedies for heel pain rest - avoid running or standing for long periods, or walking on hard surfaces. Avoid activities that may stress the heels. Ice - place an ice-pack on the affected area for about 15 minutes. Do not place bare ice directly onto skin. Footwear - proper-fitting shoes that provide good support are crucial. Athletes should be particularly fussy about the shoes they use when practicing or competing - sports shoes need to be replaced at specific intervals (ask your trainer). Foot supports - wedges and heel cups can help relieve symptoms. If these doesn't help please see a physiotherapist who can teach you exercises which stretch the plantar fascia and achilles tendon, as well as strengthening the lower leg muscles, resulting in better stabilization of the ankle and heel. You may also be taught how to apply athletic taping, which gives the bottom of the foot better support. Prevention of heel pain involves reducing the stress on that part of the body. Tips include: barefeet - when on hard ground make sure you are wearing shoes. Bodyweight - if you are overweight there is more stress on the heels when you walk or run. Try to lose weight. Footwear - footwear that has material which can absorb some of the stress placed on the heel may help protect it. Examples include heel pads. Make sure your shoes fit properly and do not have worn down heels or soles. If you notice a link between a particular pair of shoes and heel pain, stop wearing them. Rest - if you are especially susceptible to heel pain, try to spend more time resting and less time on your feet. It is best to discuss this point with a specialized health care professional. Sports - warm up properly before engaging in activities that may place lots of stress on the heels. Make sure you have proper sports shoes for your task. Best wishes.

For diabetes follow a diet low in carbohydrate, low in fat and high in fibre. Walking for 30 mins a day for at least 5 days in a week is recommended. Medicine will depend upon sugar level.
