Mr. Lybrate-user, she should control her blood sugar very well, avoiding serious hypoglycemic episodes. As for you if you do not have diabetes, then there is no special precaution required. Do not consider her diabetes as some thing special situation, just handle it as a routine problem. Best of luck.

your medicines are good ..but what is your fasting sugar ..pp sugar levels..hba1c is near to target of 7... just follow these tips to control diabetes 1-Losing Extra Weight:-helps lowering blood pressure and cholesterol too. For woman: waist of 80 cm or more & for man: waist of 90 cm or more are at risk 2- Constant and regular food timings :-improves metabolic activity and helps in reducing weight. 3- Split your meals and eating in moderate amount:-, improves your metabolic rate as the food u take is not concentrated at one time. 4- No long Gaps and skipping of meals:-. Never miss out breakfast. 5- No overeating:-Never eat in a bulk on one time .Eat your food slowly, chew well. 6- Proper Exercise and work outs:- Brisk walking for 30 min. atleast five times a week is the best and easiest way of exercising. You can also try Cycling, swimming, dancing. Timings for exercise should be fixed and regular. Avoid heavy exercise. Do not eat right away after a workout . 7-constant and regular timings for medication 8-Avoid fried foods and meat: Limit fats and sweets. Rather choose a variety of foods including whole grains, fresh vegetables, salads, fruits, low fat dairy products. 9- Take high-fibre and complex carbohydrates:-like oats as they are easily broken down to basic sugars. Add whole grain foods in your diet. Avoid carbohydrates like white bread, pasta, pizza , candies, and snacks .Instead include high-fiber carbohydrates like wheat bran, flaxseed and methi seeds to your wheat flour. This will increase fibre in your diet.

How many days will take time to cure hypothyroidism in homeopathy if tsh is 150?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath,
It depends upon how an individual body responds to the medicine. As the tsh level are very high so it will come to about 20-30 in next 2-3 months but after that it will take time because at present 150 levels are not the actual level just pseudo levels.

Hi hypothyroidism is quite common these days. If you are already taking thyronorm, then there is no need to worry about this problem. The weight that is increasing is due to excessive food. Its better to consult personally a dietician. Also start doing exercise everyday. This problem can be overcome easily. All the best.

A high uric acid level can be caused when your body either produces too much uric acid or your kidneys don't eliminate uric acid rapidly enough. A high uric acid level may cause increasingly frequent attacks of gout, or it may never cause problems. A high uric acid level may also cause some people to develop kidney stones or kidney failure. And some people with a high uric acid level also develop high blood pressure, heart disease or chronic kidney disease, but it's often unclear whether this is a direct cause or merely an early warning sign of these conditions. Factors that may cause a high uric acid level in your blood include: Diuretic medications (water pills),Drinking too much alcohol,Genetics (inherited tendencies),hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid),Immune-suppressing drugs,Niacin, or vitamin B-3, obesity, psoriasis, Purine-rich diet — organ meat, game meat, anchovies, herring, gravy, dried beans, driedpeas, mushrooms and other foods Renal insufficiency — inability of the kidneys to filter waste Tumor lysis syndrome — a rapid release of cells into the blood caused by certain cancers or by chemotherapy for those cancers,Also, you may be monitored for high uric acid levels when undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment for cancer. Avoid protein diets, avoid more milk products. bad habits , fast food/fat/oily,salty foods. Coffee, smoking, alcohol intake. Non-veg., take whole grain, oats, green veg.,plenty of water in day time, 1 glass of water at night before bed.

Hi Sugar free is not completely free of sugar. It's just that it has low calories and carbohydrates. To curb your cravings you can take it occasionally but taking it in excess is not suggested for a diabetic. Jaggery is the unrefined form of your white sugar. It's nutritional value is better than sugar but it's effect on diabetes is the same. So when sugar is a no to diabetes, jaggery also is a NO.

My TSH result is 31.09 MIu/ml. Is it Hypothyroidism or Hyperthyroidism? What is the normal range for a woman above 40 yrs.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
lybrate-userji, High TSH value means presence of hypothyroidism. Normal range of TSH is 0.5 to 6 mU/L. Some authorities say up to 4.7 mU/L. Your value is too high, requires immediate treatment with thyroxine hormone to overcome the condition. Thanks.

You are already having grade 1 obesity with a bmi of 32.66 kg/m2. Plus if your hypothyroidism is not in control, that will add to weight gain and depression. You have not mentioned about current tsh level. If hypothyroidism is well controlled then tsh should be between 3 to 4 mill units/ml. If not all the symptoms of hypothyroidism which include weight gain, aniety and depression will continue to remain and even increase. So please check tsh levels and come back. Thanks.
