When I talk to someone my saliva came out again and again please tell me what to do ?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Although excessive saliva is not too common, there are a number of conditions that can cause it - some harmless, others more serious. It is possible that your saliva problems are just a result of the way you speak. Some people speak faster or slower than others, just as some people blink more often, breathe faster, or have a more rapid heartbeat. This may just be what's normal for you. Since it is negatively affecting your life, I suggest your problem can be ignored. However there are medical conditions that causes excessive salivation Physiological Pregnancy Local causes Oral inflammation- teething Infection ?oral cavity infection, dental caries, tonsillitis, peritonsilar abscess Systemic Toxin exposure- pesticides, mercury, capsaicin, snake poisoning Medication ?tranquilizers, anticonvulsants, anticholinesterases, lithium Neuromuscular ?cerebral palsy, Parkinson?s disease, motor neuron disease, bulbar/ pseudobulbar palsy, Stroke Infection- rabies Gastric- gastroesophageal reflux Advance procedures can be done with laser.DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I am suffering from bad breath. I have changed so many toothpaste and toothbrushes and mouth wash but have no result. I think there is any other problem.

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Bad breath, medically called halitosis, can result from poor dental health habits and may be a sign of other health problems. Bad breath can also be made worse by the types of foods you eat and other unhealthy lifestyle habits. Basically, all the food eaten begins to be broken down in your mouth. As foods are digested and absorbed into the bloodstream, they are eventually carried to your lungs and given off in your breath. If you eat foods with strong odors (such as garlic or onions), brushing and flossing -- even mouthwash -- merely covers up the odor temporarily. The odor will not go away completely until the foods have passed through your body. Practice good oral hygiene. Brush twice a day with fluoridetoothpaste to remove food debris and plaque. Brush teeth after you eat (keep a toothbrush at work or school to brush after lunch). Don't forget to brush the tongue, too. Replace your toothbrush every 2 to 3 months or after an illness. Use floss or an interdental cleaner to remove food particles and plaque between teeth once a day. Rinse with an antibacterial mouthwash twice a day. Dentures should be removed at night and cleaned thoroughly before being placed in your mouth the next morning. See your dentist regularly -- at least twice a year. He or she will conduct an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning and will be able to detect and treat periodontal disease, dry mouth, or other problems that may be the cause of bad mouth odor.

I am 21 years old I have 1cm teeth gap in top front side I am worrying about this whenever I am smiling I lose my confident, I am not interested to put clip is an other option is there.

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
If you have ruled out the option of going for orthodontic treatment (braces), you can surely close the gap betwen your teeth using veneers or crowns depending on the severity of the gap and size of the adjacent teeth. A gap of 1cm should be a difficult proposition to close but cosmetic treatment is surely possible.

MBBS, MD - Anaesthesiology, FIPM

Your pain could be due to sinusitis, that is inflammation of sinuses due to infection. Sinuses are air filled spaces in facial bones around the nose, eyes and forehead. They get infected with throat infections. You should consult an ent specialist to treat sinusitis with antibiotics. If problem persists consult again.

It is good to have more saliva. Still it can be reduced little by not taking more of water in evening. Few medicines are available which causes reduced aaliva flow but nit advised for regular use.

Since the last week or so, I have been constantly having a sour taste on my tongue. This is likely not because of the antibiotics (taken for infected anal aperture gland infection), which were discontinued from the day-before.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
•A change in taste may result from dehydration, glossitis, a dry mouth, allergies, salivary glands infections, lack of zinc and vitamin B12, and polyps in the nose. •Others include breathing through the mouth, inflamed upper airways, and autoimmune diseases like Sjogren's syndrome and Bell's palsy. •Some injuries and traumas that cause a bitter taste include head, nerve, mouth and nose injuries, and biting your tongue. •Dental appliances such as braces, any surgery on your ear, nose, teeth or throat, and radiation therapy on your neck or head cause a bitter taste in mouth. •Gargle with water. Brush your teeth, tongue, roof of your mouth, and gums using toothpaste. Rinse your mouth with mouthwash. Drink liquids, chew sugar-free gum or mints, or suck on sour candies. Use plastic utensils if you have taste alteration when eating.

Since from past six months I have wisdom teeth problem, I have facial and headaches pain and also my face joints means my upper and lower joints has be tight. What I have do for this problem.

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Lybrate-user, if your wisdom tooth is incorrectly placed or stuck halfway and has not erupted fully because of improper positioning, you will need to get the wisdom tooth extracted to get rid of the problem. If it is incorrectly placed, it is better to get it removed at a early age.

I have pain in wisdom tooth. Should it be removed or filling is okay. There is no pain right now but doctor says extraction is better.

M.Sc - Medical Bio-chemistry, BDS

wisdom tooth may cause recurrent infections .As it has no role in chewing thats why extraction is a better option.

Root canal treatment is a harmless procedure. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need root canal treatment. Until then apply clove oil on the decayed tooth. Rinse frequently with mouth wash. Advise c. Amox 500mg 1-1-1, thrice daily, t. Metrogyl 400mg 1-1-1, thrice daily, t. Imol 1-1-1, thrice daily (contraindicated in conditions with gastric ulcer, asthma, wheezing, allergy), c. Becosules 1-0-0 once daily all for 3 days only. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay.Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.
