I am having bad breath for the past two months. Brushing after every meal but not much relief. Please advise remedy.

Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), MBBS
General Physician, Bangalore
Firstly see whether you have a breathing problem with a nasal obstruction. Especially at night. Sleeping with mouth open can be a common cause for bad breath. That apart, sinusitis can also contribute to bad breath. If one snores with the mouth open that is another cause. Tonsillar sepsis can be one more. Dental sepsis can cause the bad breath. Identifying causes will go a long way in treating the problem.

Foods/drinks. Coffee, tea, colas, wines, and certain fruits and vegetables (for example, apples and potatoes) can stain your teeth. Tobacco use. Smoking or chewing tobacco can stain teeth. Poor dental hygiene. Inadequate brushing, flossing, and rinsing with an antiseptic mouthwash to remove plaque and stain-producing substances like coffee and tobacco can cause tooth discoloration. Disease. Several diseases that affect enamel (the hard surface of the teeth) and dentin (the underlying material under enamel) can lead to tooth discoloration. The best treatment for swelling gums is to remove from your teeth the plaque bacteria that causes gum disease. When dental plaque builds up, it turns into tartar, a hard, sticky substance that adheres to your teeth. Without regular teeth cleanings, dental tartar can become a breeding ground for even more plaque, which can creep below the gum line and lead to an infection that causes swelling gums. DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I advice you go for scaling (professional tooth cleaning) to remove the extrinsic stains and then polishing and then bleaching (tooth whitening) so as to remove the intrinsic stains and improves the tooth shade.

What is the reason for yellowish of teeth and what is the method to whitening the teeth.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Cause of discoloration – Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. You may need deep cleaning, polishing along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or capping. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

I have pain in wisdom tooth. Should it be removed or filling is okay. There is no pain right now but doctor says extraction is better.

Dentist, Jaipur
wisdom tooth may cause recurrent infections .As it has no role in chewing thats why extraction is a better option.

I have no cavities in my teeth, however there is pain for the last 1 week in the lower jaw canine. What would it be? can it also be because of wisdom tooth?

B.D.S
Dentist, Jaipur
Get your check up done in a dental clinic so that your dentist can find the reason behind it. This is not because of wisdom tooth. Thank you.

I got teeth sensitivity during the drinking the water around 2 months. I have already use sensodyne tooth pase, Surya dant manjan etc. but not get any relief so kindly provide suggestion.

BDS, pg certification in aesthetic dentistry
Dentist, Gurgaon
Dea, There are many reasons for someone to develop sensitivity. 1. if you have tooth decay/ cavities in your mouth 2. developing tooth decay near the gum line. Since you see no decay on top of the tooth, you might not be aware a cavity exists, but it can create tiny holes near the gum in front or the back of the tooth. 3.Highly acidic foods can also give you tooth sensitivity. If you eat a lot of citrus fruits, tomatoes and other foods with high acid content, they could be wearing away at the enamel of your teeth, causing sensitivity to the dentin. In such cases no tooth paste/ mouthwash works. So, first get your oral health check up done which is advisable after every 6 months. If you have cavities get it filled. Continue to follow a good brushing and flossing routine to maintain the good health of your teeth. Use a soft bristle brush and brush gently Thank you!! Regards For further enquires or t/t email us cosmodontist@gmail.com Keep smiling;)

If you have diabetes, make sure you take care of your mouth

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
If you have diabetes, make sure you take care of your mouth. People with diabetes are at risk for mouth infections, especially periodontal (gum) disease. Periodontal disease can damage the gum and bone that hold your teeth in place and may lead to painful chewing problems. Some people with serious gum disease lose their teeth.

We need more investigations (full mouth x-ray) & clinical examination to decide upon treatment. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person.

I'm a 23 year old male and I'm having pain in my gum since yesterday. While it may be wisdom tooth, should I consult a doctor?

MDS - Periodontics
Dentist, Delhi
Hello. Sudden gum pain can be caused if something sharp had pricked on your gums. If not it can be due to pocket ie food lodgment in gums. You need scaling and local drug delivery to that particular gum region.

You need to visit your dentist as these are chronic problems. he would suggest you further treatment as Deep Cleaning & Flap based on the clinical & Radiological Assessment. Also he could guide you about the Outcome. But you have to be patient with the treatment as it may require multiple sittings over long period

Vitiligo is a genetic disorder trigger by indigestion and stressful conditions. There was always confusion in patients mind regarding choosing right treatment approach for vitiligo. Allopathy can give quick results but is not very safe for long term uses if steroids are used. Homeopathic is safe but very slow and in most of cases it can not stop the spread of disease i.e old patches shows some recovery but new white patches continue to come even when we are using Homeopathy. If one think about using Ayurveda there is no good vaidya who is expertise in vitiligo. At our clinic we have integrated external Allopathic applications with internal Ayurvedic medication to give fast and long lasting results. Ayurvedic herbal medicines are used to purify blood and stop the spread of disease and external application are capable of quickly start regimentation.
