12 suggestions for a HEALTHY YOU in 2016

Do not start your day with tea or coffee, instead, opt for fruits/ nuts or milk
Do not skip meals, eat every 2-3 hours in small portions to control weight gain
Do not leave your house without eating breakfast. It helps to control hunger pangs during the day
Have fruits on empty stomach or during mid meals for proper nutrient absorption
Do not have a very large meal at one time as excess gets converted to fat. Keep some space vacant in your tummy
Have a light dinner 2-3 hours before going to bed. Do not immediately lie down after eating.
Do not binge on weekends. Choose wise options like salads, soups, grilled, roasted or steamed foods.
Have 35ml water/kg body weight. Keep sipping water every 20 minutes
Go for exercise in the morning as it helps to burn more fat.
Avoid midnight snacking as it can lead to digestion problems.
Go for regular health checkups to avoid problems later
Get a good sound sleep for at least 6- hours every night to re-energize yourself the next day.

Good sleep, exercise and proper food in regular is advisable 1- shatavari powder 50 gm + ashwagandha powder 5o gm + praval bhasma 10 gm + sugar in powder form 100 gm mix properly and take 7-8 gm(one and half tea spoon) twice daily with warm milk, if like may add 5-10 ml pure ghee in milk. 2- daily whole body massage with narayan oil or coconut oil befor bath is advisable 3- tablet liv-52 ds two tablets twice daily with water after food. Do light exercise for 20 minutes daily continue all for three months. Record weight before treatment and every month.

Hye, Thanks for the query. Gaining weight requires you to eat more calories than you burn. Although fried or sugary foods are calorie dense, eating them exclusively won’t provide enough nutrition to keep you energetic and healthy. Eating several meals and snacks throughout the day and including nutritious, calorie-dense food will help you gain weight healthfully. Weight gain depends primarily on your genetics, age, weight and activity level. To gain weight, you need to eat more calories than you burn. If you’re not used to eating large quantities of food at one time, you may find it difficult to fit all of your calories into three meals per day. Eating nutritious, calorie-dense foods every two to three hours will help you get your calories in without making you overly full and sluggish. If you tend to forget to eat or are always on the go, bring calorie-dense snacks such as eggs, mixed nuts, fruits and dairy. Nutritious, calorie-dense foods provide essential vitamins and minerals, which promote good health and energy. Adding ghee and cream to foods adds additional calories for very little extra physical bulk. Fruit juice, masala milk provides crucial nutrients. Meal-replacement shakes and protein powder sound like good options but also remember that unless your diet is not planned sadly they won't help.

Hi, you should go for 45 minutes brisk walk in the morning. Do regular exercise atleast 20 minutes daily. Take lukewarm water with lemon in the morning. Include more fruits and vegetables in your diet. Take salad before meals. Drink more water in a day. Don't take rice at night and don't skip breakfast. Avoid junk food and oily food. Take small and frequent meals.

Hello Doc, shall I change my diet plan or is it ok. My morning starts with three glasses of water empty stomach and then 1hot cup of organic india green tea. In breakfast I take 1 banana, 3-4 breads with peanut butter and 1 glass protein shake. In lunch I take normal rice, dal roti and egg amulet in non-veg days. 1 banana in afternoon and a normal 2 hrs rest. In evening I again take 1 hot cup green tea followed by 1 banana, 3-4 breads with peanut butter and normal milk this time. Dinner is same as lunch and egg, chicken in non-veg days. After that again 1 banana, 3-4 breads with peanut butter and protein milk shake. Is this is an ok diet?

Dear lybrateuser, -Your diet should help you reduce your weight & you should feel active throughout the day -have banana with breakfast, afternoon you can have an apple or a pear or an orange, basically have a variety of fruits available which can provide you with various vitamins & minerals, include seasonal vegetables in your diet -have wholewheat bread or mix grain paratha, add paneer & yoghurt in your diet ,have fish & skinless chicken in non-veg items, avoid fried food -have early dinner, don't eat anything after that, you can take a glass of buttermilk before bedtime -drink plenty of water throughout the day, have a glassful before each meal.

Hi here are 6 ways to gain weight healthily: 1. Eating 5 to 6 meals a day in order to gain weight, start eating 5-6 meals a day by breaking them into parts. Eating a lot at once may cause indigestion if the body fails to absorb all nutrients. Eat in small amounts, even if you are not hungry and there will be an increase in appetite from day to day. The aim should be to have a generously portioned breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as two to three snacks in between. 2. Start weight training if you build your muscles through weight training, it will convert the extra weight into lean body mass and also stimulate your appetite. The extra muscle increases the rate of metabolism. When you start exercising you will often experience extreme muscle soreness but it goes away in 3-5 days. 3. Load up on protein besides weight training, a protein-rich diet can help you gain mass. Eating a meal heavy in protein shortly after finishing exercise can be highly effective in adding extra pounds to your body. However, a diet focused only on lean protein is not helpful. It is important to make sure that your diet has plenty of fat in it. Eat foods rich in protein like cheese, meat, eggs, etc to gain weight in a healthy manner. 4. Workout your entire body a lot of people focus only on training the muscles on their arms, chest and shoulders and this is a grave error. Firstly, it will give you a disproportionate body; and it will make you prone to injuries. Therefore, it's important to work out the entire body for a complete and balanced look. 5. Drink your calories to reach the calorie requirement only by eating may be tough. Drinking milk, milkshakes or protein shakes with little or no sugar can be an effective way to load up on the calorie requirements. 6. Be patient and believe in yourself gaining weight quickly in a healthy manner is unrealistic. Every body type is different and it takes months to gain weight. Living healthy by eating the right diet will increase your strength. It is also important to keep following the routine even if you don't see any gains. Caution: junk food and fried foods must be avoided; although have a tendency to add more fat to your body but are very low in vitamins and minerals which are essentially required to keep you really fit. My husband has high bp problem, yesterday his hands n legs started shivering, giddiness so had bp chk up n it was normal. He has shivers frequently n has low sugar mostly bcos whn he has some sweet or fd intake thn he feels better. Also has drowsiness so what can b done? Need to check his thyroid? Need proper guidance.

Hello, the symptoms are s/o hypoglycemia. He has to check his sugars in fasting and postmeal status and serum insulin levels. There are few conditions where insulin levels are high causing hypoglycemic symptoms. Need to checkwith an endocrinologist.

Give him green tea 30 minuties before lunch end dinner. Give him fiber food as much as he can takes. Go with him for fast walking at list 1 km daily in morning end after dinner slowly walk 1 km daily.

You must have come across a lot of different diets and exercises for weight loss, but if you want all these recommendations to work for you effectively you will have to team them up with some golden rules of losing weight. Follow these simple yet crucial diet rules and see your weighing machine dancing to your tune. Eat Only When You Are Hungry : Just because the clock says it’s your lunch, dinner or snack time, or because you are bored, miserable or want to try that new trim tram is not an excuse to binge on the food. Eat only when you feel hungry, not because your clock says. Move More, Lose More: Its time that you say no to that lift in your office or apartments to at least 5th floor and take advantage of this incidental exercise provided by stairs. Stake the stairs instead of elevators and walk to the nearby shop than taking out a car. Make Appointment for Exercise: Plan in exercise. Write it in your daily planner or diary like an appointment and treat it like one. Drink Water, Drink it Often: Drinking 6-8 glass of water daily is ideal. Often hunger is confused with thirst and dehydration. So everytime you feel hungry, drink water before you eat. Plan Ahead, Plan Healthy: Get organized in your kitchen. Create a healthy meal plan for the week. Prepare a shopping list accordingly and stick to it. Prepare meals and snacks in advance. Keep it with you as a reminder of your desire to lose weight and bring in change.
