mosambi one fruit usually provides about 43 k cals, plus good amount of vitamin c. It is good and can be taken by a diabetic person but just one serving in a day. If juice is taken blood sugar rise is pretty rapid as absorption is very fast. But quantity is less.

Hye, Really thank you for this query. This is the most common misconception and query people have today. Carbs are bad, or rice has starch or its fattening, etc are nothing but fads of people trying to follow a culture that goes against our traditional wisdom of food. There are a few things that you must first know about rice. Rice contains negligible fat. It eases bowel movement and rids you of distention. Rice has starch but understand that starch is a source of energy for our body, so we need it. Rice, when eaten with proteins and healthy fats like dal/sabzi/meat/dahi, etc reduces the sugar increasing property of the meal and hence won't raise your blood sugar. It has amino acids which when consumed with dal or dahi, for example, completes the amino acid profile of the meal. Thus, for a vegetarian even rice with dal or kadhi or curd can become a complete protein food. Rice is carbohydrates so most people are told to avoid it in dinner.  No food should be viewed in isolation considering a single nutrient from it. Rice has essential nutrients. Carbohydrates are also essential for our body is much more easy on the gut, therefore great as a dinner option. Rice has in fact fat burning properties. Eat the rice that is, hand pounded or single polished rice which is pale whitish. So, no need to opt for brown rice or rotisserie just to lose weight. Let go off your fear or guilt of eating rice or for that matter any food that you have grown up eating. It is not rice but many other factors that are responsible for weight gain. So, eat rice and feel happy. Is that not what eating food should be, happiness.

Please do treadmill at least 30-45 minutes daily. Try to be on your legs most of the time as far as possible. Avoid sitting too long in one place.

पिछले 2500 वर्षों से, सारी दुनिया में अनगिनत संस्कृतियों द्वारा शहद का उपयोग किया गया है। 16 वीं शताब्दी में, चीनी व्यापक रूप से उपलब्ध होने से पहले शहद प्राकृतिक स्वीटनर के रूप में मूल्यवान रहा है। इसकी जल्द से जल्द ज्ञात उपयोग औषधीय नुस्खे के रूप में सुमेरियन मिट्टी के गोलियों में पाया जाता है, जो लगभग 4000 वर्ष पुराना हो सकता है। प्राचीन मिस्र में, इसका उपयोग त्वचा और आंखों की बीमारियों के प्रबंधन में किया गया था, और साथ ही घावों और जलने पर एक प्राकृतिक पट्टी के रूप में लागू किया जाता था।

Hi gain weight you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectars, and large quantities of fresh fruits vegetables: include, potatoes, peas, corn in your diet. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, salmon, omelets, nuts, peanut butter, kidney beans, chickpeas will help you gain weight. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese: milk, fruited yogurts, hard cheeses, ice cream, puddings, custards, milkshakes. -nuts and seeds make a healthy option for snacks. -roasted channas and peanuts are good -peanut butter on the sandwiches are a great mid-meal choice. -you must know that cereals actually contain some healthy calories. Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and other fluids like juices, milk, soups etc, will work in your favour. Do not drink water before a meal and in between the meal as it may make you lose your appetite, thus calorie intake suffers. Sleep: at least 8 hours of sound sleep is a must. Since your body is actually building up muscles, while you rest. Weight gainers have long term side effects.

Two days ago me and my wife got our b12 and hemoglobin checked. My b12 is 257 pg/ml and my wifes b12 is 248 pg/ml. You need to take a balanced diet. If you want to control please follow a diet chart. Eat more vegetables. Avoid low glycemic foods. Eat flax seed. Eat frequently but low calorie. Use rice bran, soya, sesame oil of doctor's choice for cooking. Use 15-20 ml oil/day.

You need to have a diet and exercise plan based on your bmi, age & weight and sex, presence of any diseases. There are exercises specific for each part of body like hips, thighs or abdomen. Comprehensive exercise & diet plan based on whether vegetarian /non vegetarian can be given. May also need to do some tests. In brief, weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. And by appropriate exercise plans for each part like belly, thighs, legs etc. To burn off fat. Some tips 1) drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take 1/4 of your total diet as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity. It is better to do some tests.

Hi, I am 42 years old, I take blood pressure medicines since last 8-9 years. Just before 2 years, I was detected with diabetes Type -2, initially I was on insulin and later on, I did diet control, so doctor says, I no longer need medication. But, I still go for blood test on monthly basis. I still follow a strict diet control, but since last 2-3 times, my sugar level has been increasing i. E. Before lunch, it was 145 (approx) and post lunch it was 200 (approx). I still go for ayurvedic medicine, strict diet control, yoga and light exercise on daily basis. Please advise.

If your sugar level comes to normal limits, it does not mean that you should stop the medicines. You will still require a small dose of medicines to prevent the sugar from rising back. Ofcourse, your diet and exercise control is very important and should be continued so that the dose of medications that you require will be minimum.

Set yourself a realistic target and aim to lose between (0.5-1.0kg) a week I being a registered Dietitian strongly accommodate the patients own preferences without the patient feeling that they are on a diet not compromising the weight management goals. Don't fall for self dieting or fad diets availiable online they have harmful effects in the long run, if you lose a lot of weight very quickly, you may not lose as much fat as you would with a more modest rate of weight loss. Be particular about food choices & timings. Follow the proper do's and don't of diabetes avoid all refined foods from your diet such as maida, pasta. Avoid high starchy foods such as rice, potato & colocasia. Include more fiber, pulses & green leafy vegetables in your diet. Avoid sweetend fruits such as banana, mango, litchi, chickoo, grapes from your diet.

Mr. Lybrate-user, by saying thyroid 15.04 are you referring to tsh level? if so it is very high. On treatment it should be around 3 to 4 milli units. As for vitamin d, best source is to get exposed to early morning sun. There are vitamin d3 supplements available, they can be used. More importantly your hypothyroidism needs to be checked properly. Hi, you should go for 45 minutes brisk walk in the morning. Do regular exercise atleast 15 minutes. Take lukewarm water with lemon in the morning. Take 3 cup green tea daily. Avoid junk food and oily food. Take fibre rich food in your diet. Take frequent meals instead of 3 big meals.

Premature Ejaculation is a condition when a man experiences orgasm and releases semen soon after sexual activity and with minimal penile stimulation. In most men, the average ejaculatory latency is approximately 4 - 8 minutes. The International Classification of Diseases classifies a latency of 15 seconds in men with PE. Men with PE also report stress over emotional and romantic relationships with their partners. Due to PE related embarrassment, some men avoid pursuing sexual relationships. PE may also cause considerable distress to female partners.

Homeopathic medicine for premature ejaculation can be divided with their symptoms such as weakness, diminished libido, diminished power, impotency and sexual excesses (loss of memory, impaired coordination, numbness and tingling in limbs, irresistible desire for masturbation, constant dwelling on sexual subjects and excitable even before the sexual stimulation starts):

  1. China, Graphites, Staphysagria and Selenium are used to treat PE followed by weakness. Aversion to coition and great sexual exhaustion can be cured with Graphites. Backache and severe prostration are cured with Staphysagria. Sexual neurasthenia with weak and odourless semen is treated with Selenium. China is taken to stop lascivious thoughts and dreams, and getting excited too easily.
  2. Agnus Castus, Carboneum Sulphuratum and Baryta Carbonica are used to treat PE along with diminished libido. Agnus Castus is used to treat PE with loss of desire and no erections. Lost desire and atrophied parts are treated with Carboneum Sulphuratum. Enlarged prostate with indurated testicles are effectively treated with Baryta Carbonicum.
  3. Phosphoricum Acidum, Conium, Sulphur and Iodum are used to treat PE along with diminished power. Tender and swollen testicles are treated with Phosphoricum Acidum. Conium is used to treat sexual nervousness with weak erection. Loss of sexual power with atrophied testes and impotency is treated with Sulphur and Iodum respectively.
  4. Phosphorus, Avena Sativa, and Nuphar Luteum are used to treat PE with impotency.
  5. Kali Bromatum, Nux Vomica, Ustilago and Staphysagria are used to treat PE due to sexual excesses. Numbness and tingling in limbs is treated with Kali Bromatum; Nux Vomica deals with sexual excessiveness; Ustilago treats excessive desire for masturbation and Staphysagria treats the constant dwelling on sexual objects.

Dear Lybrateuser, - To build your body & to put on bulk you have to have a balanced diet with more of proteins & do regular exercise including moderate weight lifting - have fruits & vegetables, whole grains, milk & milk products, non-veg, nuts - foods rich in proteins include eggs, non- veg like seafood, chicken, meats, beans, legumes, milk & milk products, soya products, tofu, nuts like almond, walnuts, pistachios, peanuts - do regular exercises like jogging, cycling, swimming, also do moderate weight lifting two days a week, do yoga& deep breathing 5-10 min per day.
