To gain weight, you don't have to take protein all the time. You have to increase your carbohydrates (rice, roti, bread, pasta. Try to eat after every 2 -3 hours. You can have peanuts, bananas, milkshakes, kheer, paneer, cheese sandwiches, bhelpuri, aloo chaat, in between main meals. Add 1-2 chapatis more to your lunch & dinner. Sleep for atleast 8 hours daily.

The drugs being taken are definitely good ones. But what is important is how well your blood glucose is controlled. Well controlled diabetes should have fasting glucose closer to 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg / 100 ml & hba1c% <6.8. If you maintain these level then long term complications can be prevented or postponed. As regards specific diet plan I need to know all the above details plus present dietary intake and extent of exercise being done daily. However, following few guidelines can be adhered to - avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries and other bakery items, sweetened aerated drinks, fructose corn syrup containing products, highly processed food products and high fat milk products. Consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and permitted fruits (about 100 g a day). Always use whole grain products and whole grain flour. Avoid maida and foods made out of it. Refrain from alcohol and smoking.

Healthy Diet: While trying to gain weight, the focus should be more on eating healthy foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals. Healthy food includes meat, poultry, unsaturated plant fats, low-fat milk, healthy starch content, vegetables, fruits and nuts. Cashews, almonds, dates, walnuts, dry grapes, apricots, peaches are some of the dried fruits and nuts that can be added to breakfast, salads, cereal and desserts. Sesame seeds, ground nuts, and peanuts also contain fats in them and can help in adding that extra pounds you desire. Sometimes loss of appetite may also cause weight loss. Research suggests that umami flavour inrceases satiety and enhances appetite.

One or two eggs in breakfast is good. And you should avoid eating egg yolk. It is full of cholesterol. Eat only white of the egg, it is full of protein. And in order reduce weight, you should also exercise along with eating eggs.

Hi, I have stomach upsets almost every week. Its been happening since past1 and half year. I have consulted doctors, had tests, but nothing could be found out. It happens such that every time when I eat normal foods a little more or may be fast foods, I will have stomach problems like mild diarrhea, or may be a bit pain during excretion. Its really frustrating and I am unable to gain weight.

U seem to have lot of Agni disturbance. Allopathy can't help in this condition. I normally don't prescribe internal medicine in this forum. But in ur case, I feel following med ll be effective. Avipathi ch, 1 tsp at bed time wit hot water. With zandu company, u get tablets of the same. So it ll be 5-6 tab at bed time. And panchamrita parpati 250mg wit honey taken early morn in empty stomach.

Hi, I am both a registered dietitian and a doctor who will help you in losing your weight as well as solve your other health problems through a dietary therapy. Let me know your food intake details. The best diet is one which is healthy and well balanced with foods from all the food groups, and one which is varied and that you can stick to weight loss on some diets can be dramatic in the short term, but there's more of a chance of rebound weight gain. Set yourself a realistic target and aim to lose between (0.5-1.0kg) a week I being a registered dietitian strongly accommodate the patients own preferences without the patient feeling that they are on a diet not compromising the weight management goals. Don't fall for self dieting or fad diets availiable online they have harmful effects in the long run, if you lose a lot of weight very quickly, you may not lose as much fat as you would with a more modest rate of weight loss. Instead, you might lose water weight or even lean muscle tissue, since it's hard to burn that many fat calories in a short period. I will need to carry out detailed assessment in your case, after assessing your personal challenges to weight loss, I will recommend a strategy to gradually change habits and attitudes that have sabotaged your past efforts. Also the overall objective should not be to drastically reduce weight but doing it gradually and help rebuild body tissues and to maintain ideal body weight. Your Daily food intake should ideally consist of – a. Have plenty of nuts, dry fuits and seeds. Almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. b. Good amount of fruits and vegetables – Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. c. If you are a non- vegetarian - Eat eggs, chicken etc. d. Eat whole grains – Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats, bajra, daliya etc should be taken in multiple meals in a day. e. Eat Sprouts – Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. f. You can supplement your diet with good quality multi-vitamin capsules. Hi lybrate-user, Start your day around 5: 30 -06: 00 AM. Consume 3 main meals and 3 snacks with 2-3 hrs' interval. Your Break fast Should be around 07: 00-07: 30 am. Take veg. Salad twice and fruits once daily.(vitamins and mineral from natural source will improve digestion and absorption. Follow these 2 changes for 10 days .then we will go further .)

Dear lybrate-user, first very importantly you need to work on your stress, because your mind controls your body and if your mind is stressed your body will be affected. You can just start simply by having a glass of whey protein with milk (you can have optimum nutririon whey protein) in breakfast with omlette and multigrain bread sandvich. Follow it for 1 month.

Foods for Faster Weight Loss

Metabolism is the process of how the body converts what you eat and drink into energy. Even at rest, the body needs energy provided by calories to handle necessary functions like breathing and circulating blood. The number of calories that the body needs varies based on age, gender and body composition.

The best way to increase metabolism is to increase muscle mass through strength training. Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than fat tissue, so by converting some fat to muscle or increasing the amount of muscle, overall metabolism increases to burn more calories throughout the day.

While dietary intervention to boost metabolism is not widely proven, there are some foods that may temporarily increase the amount of calories burned:
1. Green tea: Green tea has the best evidence that it may raise metabolic rate. Studies have shown that drinking several cups of green tea per day, which contains caffeine and catechins, can help the body use more energy. A specific antioxidant, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), has been contributed to a small rise in calorie burn.
2. Water: Your body needs water to process food and convert calories into usable energy. Therefore, dehydration leaves the body at a disadvantage and causes this process to slow down.
3. Capsaicin: This is a compound that gives spicy peppers their burning sensation, and can crank up your metabolism. Try spicier foods by adding some chili peppers to stir fry, sauce or soup.
4. Caffeine: This stimulant found in coffee and tea can increase the amount of calories your body burns, but most studies have proven this effect with very high intake (8-10 cups per day). For some people, caffeine can cause heartburn, high blood pressure, or sleep problems, so don't increase your caffeine intake if you experience these side effects.
5. Lean protein: Protein-rich foods increase satiety, which can prevent overeating. While protein foods won't specifically increase the body's metabolism, lean protein like chicken or eggs can help you feel fuller for longer.
6. Whole grains: Whole grains, like oats or barley, are high in fiber and take longer to digest, which means your metabolism works for longer to convert this food into usable energy.
Avoid crash diets or diets that are very low in calories. Eating too few calories (below 1,800/day for men or below 1,200/day for women) can cause the body to enter into starvation mode, where metabolism slows down to avoid burning through food too quickly, and you may even lose muscle mass. This makes weight loss very hard.

In the long run, adding these foods may help increase your body's resting metabolism. However, it will not provide a quick fix for losing weight. Increasing exercise will burn more calories than these foods; if your goal is weight loss, aim to eat healthy and increase exercise at the same time.

the values you've posted are actually normal. If you've long standing cold and nasal obstruction, it might be due to deviated nasal septum, please see an ent specialist.

7 year old daughter needs lots of proteins like milks curds plus nuts for good fats and proteins, carb, fats and vitamin and minerals through fresh fruits and vegetables plus lots of exercises to grow tall and to digest healthy food. Do give her a tablet of bandy for deworming so that food benefits her only and not the worms if any in the food pipe.
