I am really very concern about my height. It is 5'8'I am not satisfied and worried that it has stopped now, but I want to increase it, I know that it is genes that decide it but Is there a other way or should I take Speed Height Capsules or can h suggest anything like that?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
We all are aware of the fact that our height increases up to a particular age and then it comes to a halt. Height increases up to the age of 18years in women and up to the age of 20 years in men. Increase in height is attributed to the production of growth hormone, called the HGH( Human Growth Hormone), which is secreted by the pituitary gland called the master gland of our body. It is rather difficult to increase height after reaching adulthood as the production of these hormones slowly stops. In most cases, the epiphyses of the long bones are fused as the last bits of cartilaginous tissue in the bones turn into solid hard bones. This prevents any further growth in longer bones. However, if the hormones are released naturally, increase in height can be observed. Increase in height at your age depends upon a no. of factors like 1.Heriditary factor 2.Recorded any increase in height in last 6 months 3.Amount of effort you are putting in for increase in height 4.How much serious are you for your height 5.Will you give 100% if I show you a direction 6.Just do your bit with full determination and leave the rest to time, exercises and medicines. I am a 53 years old male having high blood pressure from last 25-30 years and also suffering from restless legs syndrome. I am taking medicines - tab. Metosarton 50mg and tab amlong 2. 5mg for hypertension and tab. Premipex 0. 5mg and tab melzap md 0. 5mg for rls, although all my tests are ok. However, I normally feel chest pain many times at different areas of chest. Also, I have undergone ct angio 3 times and it' s been always on negative side. Recently before 5 days, I again felt moderate chest pain with shortness of breathing which was then extended to my left jaw, right jaw and backside of the neck. I immediately went to a cardiologist and he noticed some changes in my ecg but eco was perfectly fine. He then suggested me to get admitted in a hospital. I was admitted in hospital' s icu for a day. After thorough checks, fresh ecg, eco, tmt and troponin-i test, doctor declared that pain was not a cardiac reason. Even after 4 days of discharge from hospital, the chest pain is still persisting multiple times in a day. Request doctor to please advise me on why the pain is persisting continuously and advise on what possibly be a cause behind this pain.

Orthopedist, Delhi
If cardiac cause has been ruled out, pain could be due to weakening of bone ie ribs in the chest, get your vitamin d levels done- could be low and start calcium supplements. Revert back with reports. Also get serum electrophoresis for m band( blood test).

What is symptoms of diabetes. I think I'm suffering from it. Please give me right symptoms which show this.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
invariably diabetes does not produce any symptoms which are easily recognisable, that is one of the reasons why most people miss it. But when fully developed it may cause excess thirst, excess urination, excess hunger, unexplained weight loss and tiredness. On getting the blood test done high blood glucose is seen. Fasting >126 mg, pp >200 mg and hba1c>6.5 % is diagnostic for diabetes.

I have started skipping exercise to increase height as doctors suggested me But the problem is I can skip only for 2-3 days after that my legs start paining an I can not do it for next 1 week and also I do not eat properly I also get tired very soon and my legs start paining if I walk continuously for a while I also have back pains I feel like an unhealthy person I do not get proper sleep also what should I do to increase my height I am 20 years female btw.

Homeopath, Rajkot
Hello , Usually after age of 18-20, height will not change. But in some cases exercise can increase height to some extent. So continue it. Tiredness and leg pain are mostly because of nutritional deficiency. You have to take proper nutritional food according to your age, activities and constitution. Then you can do exercise or any other activities without any trouble.

I don't have any hair focilles on face that is I don't have even a single hair or hair focilles in the chin area that is beard So using jojoba oil can I grow beard.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Jojoba oil is a light-medium oil infused with 2/3 omega-9 fatty acids (eicosenoic), vitamin a, b, d, and e. It is easily absorbed and provides moisture to hair and skin, even protection from the sun. It mimics the natural oil of the skin (sebum) and is said to regulate skin oil production-------------it can help hair cells on your beard to reproduce themselves at a rapid pace. After applying it on the face, wait for a few minutes before washing them off.--------------

My mom is 42 years old (occupation: Housewife) and she gets stressed on small small things like if she tells you to switch on the AC after she comes back from a bath and if you forget she makes it a very big issue and starts blaming her self as if it was her fault. Also she has high B.P. And thyroid problem. This is all I know about her health conditions. Is it a big issue? Does she need therapy?

I think your mother needs help because her reactions to routine situations and happenings of life are not normal. Also I feel she has some problem related to her own personal life like marital or work related and that's why she is reacting. Relax she has no problems with you, its unintentional. Firstly you sit down with her (and please avoid blaming her for her reactions) and ask her how she is, give her a nice hug and talk to her about her daily routines, house work life and relationship with your father and other relatives. If you can not handle this then connect an expert in relationship/Psychotherapist for a talk with her. You may connect me or anyone nearby either online or in person. She will be alright once her stress is managed and relief measures are in place.

Vaginal Bleeding - 8 Causes Behind It

Gynaecologist, Kolkata
Vaginal Bleeding - 8 Causes Behind It

Vaginal bleeding stands for blood loss from the vagina (including the vaginal wall) or uterus. Marking the beginning of a new reproductive cycle, normal vaginal bleeding (menstruation) takes place every 21-35 days.
It is regarded abnormal if it takes place.

- Outside of your normal menstruation period
- When you’re pregnant
- After menopause
- Menstrual flow is heavier or lighter than normal

Common Causes of Unexpected Vaginal Bleeding:

1. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
If your body’s hormone production is out of balance, it brings about a disruption in the normal ovulation (monthly discharge of an egg) cycle, causing abnormal vaginal bleeding.

2. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)
Infection or inflammation of the female reproductive organs namely, uterus, ovaries or fallopian tubes as a result of sexually transmitted bacteria can lead to abnormal bleeding. The problem occurs when the bacterial infection spreads from the vagina into these parts of the reproductive system. More importantly, inflammation of these areas can also bring about vaginal bleeding particularly after sexual intercourse.

3. Intrauterine Device (IUD)
The use of Intrauterine Device (a birth control tool that is inserted into the uterus to prevent future pregnancy) can also cause vaginal bleeding like spotting (light bleeding between periods) or heavy periods.

4. Medicines
Any hormonal medications, containing Estrogen or Progesterone (eg: certain birth control pills), when taken irregularly or indiscriminately, may lead to hormonal imbalance, leading to abnormal bleeding.

5. Early Pregnancy
Another very important cause of abnormal bleeding in women of reproductive age group is - Pregnancy. Any abnormal pregnancy or early pregnancy with certain defects, can lead to abnormal bleeding even though you may not yet be aware of the pregnancy. Usually, it is the first condition to be investigated in a woman with abnormal uterine bleeding, in reproductive age group.

Apart from these common causes, abnormal vaginal bleeding can also happen due to:

6. Thyroid Disorders
Changes in your menstrual cycle as a result of the hormonal imbalance brought on by an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) or an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) can lead to irregular bleeding patterns.

7. Uterine fibroids
Abnormal growths in the uterus or on its surface can lead to unexpected vaginal bleeding (longer or heavier periods and bleeding between periods).

8. Cancer of the reproductive organs
Cancer of the uterus, ovaries, vagina or cervix is also known to be an uncommon cause of abnormal vaginal bleeding. The blood loss can take place after sexual intercourse or between one menstrual cycle and the next. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gynaecologist.
