I am having bad body odour from 7 years. I have hyperthyroidism from more than 13 years for which I am taking medicine and recently tested, reports are normal. I could not understand what could be than. I have iron and vitamin d deficiency. Are these the causes for that. Please help me.

MBBS
General Physician, Cuttack
It could be because of excessive sweating. Deficiency of iron and vitamin d3 does not cause bad odour. Maintain personal hygiene. Consult skin specialist for further advice.

My parent is having sugar more than 280, and their age is around 60. Do they require my personal attention?

My parent is having sugar more than 280, and their age is around 60. Do they require my personal attention?
Hello, Thanks for the query. Blood glucose level of 280 g (fasting or PP not mentioned) is high. Signifies uncontrolled diabetes. Iin patient with diabetes, that too when it is not well controlled, there can be multiple long term complications related to almost every single vital system of the body. Hence achieving a strict glucose control with FBG < 100 mg, PP 160 to 170 mg & HbA1c% <7. Therefore, if he himself is able to manage, then it is fine. Otherwise there is a need for providing personal assistance and attention. There is also no mention about what is the present treatment that is being taken and dosage etc. So difficult to give exact opinion. Thanks.

My father is diabetic. Now his diabetes PP figure is 250 (approx). He is suffering from Malaria vivax. ...
You need to give him a balanced and easily digestible diet to support the action of medicines. His diet is not balanced that's why his body constituents are breaking down causing rise in blood sugar. Consult with a Dietician to know what to eat, how, when and how much.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. When on treatment with levothyroxine TSH should be maintained <3 mU/L to be totally free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Please tell me whether your weight was same before being diagnosed with hypothyroidism? Because at the time of diagnosis TSH was 100 mU/L, means you must have been having the condition for a long time and that has contributed for excess weight gain. Now you have a BMI of 31.66 kgs/M2 (normal <23 kgs). The dosage that you were taking it self appears less that that was needed. Only soy beans and soy containing products need to be avoided. Plus there has to be a restricted diet giving calories based on your ideal body weight (55 kgs). Plus you will have to exercise regularly for at least one hour every day. Dosage of thyroxine has to be properly calculated. Thanks.

I do not want to start medicine because I can not swallow them. I am on a heavier side about 100 kgs. But i am doing regular exercise. Somebody suggested me to use BGR-34. Last two days I am using that. Should I continue this? What else should I do naturally to control my diabetes?

If you have type 2 diabetes and your blood sugar levels are racing up and down like a roller coaster, it's time to get off the ride. Big swings in your blood sugar can make you feel lousy. But even if you aren't aware of them, they can still increase your risk for a number of serious health problems. By making simple but specific adjustments to your lifestyle and diet, you can gain better blood-sugar control. Your body uses the sugar, also known as glucose, in the foods you eat for energy. Think of it as a fuel that keeps your body moving throughout the day. Blood sugar highs and lows

HEALTH TIPS FOR THYROID PATIENTS
Omega -3- fatty acid helps to control the hyper stimulated thyroid gland. Proteins are necessary for the building of muscles and to provide energy for the body. Protein sources also contain L-glutamine which helps in rebuilding the gut and de-inflaming the body.
• Eat cold water fish, flax seed oil and nuts to get the omega-3-fatty acid necessary for the body.
• Include soy, turkey, walnuts, salmon, tuna and trout in your hyperthyroidism diet.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Main reason for blood glucose remaining very high is the medications given are mostly not appropriate or inadequate. Secondly there may be an issue with dietary intake as well as physical activity. When on treatment with correct drugs and dosage FBG should be <100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg and HbA1c%<6.8. The levels mentioned are too high. These can lead to more severe problems with all other systems as uncontrolled diabetes can hasten the long term complications. Hence, it is essential to achieve strict blood glucose control. Thanks.

Dear Lybrate User, Protein is one of the most vital nutritional substances which are required for human body. Almost every high protein diet contains purine. This purine produces uric acid on oxidation. Excess uric acid is accumulated at the joints of human beings as urate salts. This accumulation of urate salts lead to pain & swelling of those affected joints & this condition is clinically known as gout. You should avoid high protein rich diet like mutton, chicken, beef, eggs, sea fish, spinach, garden pea, tomato, lentils etc. Also you need to take Homoeopathic Mother Tincture URTICA URENS Q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. This medicine will help to dissolve the accumulated excess urate salts from the joints.

Dear, you must be able to distinguish between mental disease and mental disorder. Your problem is a mental disorder. Not a mental disease. These mental disorders are usually treated with a combination of medicines and other means like awareness, meditation, psychotherapy techniques, life style changes etc. I think two or three counseling sessions and psycho therapy techniques should solve her problem. Let me know if she is willing to undergo counseling sessions and tailor made psycho therapy through mobile. Take care.
