Sir my mouth smells bad sometimes due to excess of saliva sir pls recommend some thing so my mouth should not smell bad.
Although excessive saliva is not too common, there are a number of conditions that can cause it - some harmless, others more serious. It is possible that your saliva problems are just a result of the way you speak. Some people speak faster or slower than others, just as some people blink more often, breathe faster, or have a more rapid heartbeat. This may just be what's normal for you. Since it is negatively affecting your life, I suggest your problem can be ignored. However there are medical conditions that causes excessive salivation Physiological Pregnancy Local causes Oral inflammation- teething Infection –oral cavity infection, dental caries, tonsillitis, peritonsilar abscess Systemic Toxin exposure- pesticides, mercury, capsaicin, snake poisoning Medication –tranquilizers, anticonvulsants, anticholinesterases lithium Neuromuscular –cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, motor neuron disease, bulbar/ pseudobulbar palsy, Stroke Infection- rabies Gastric- gastroesophageal reflux Injection Glycopyrrolate reduces secretions in the mouth, throat, airway, and stomach. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person. DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I have gum problem from last two months. When I brush my teeth in morning blood come out from my gums. I have used so many things for this. Please advise ne what should I do? Thanks.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

I have gum problem from last two months.
When I brush my teeth in morning blood come out from my gums.
I have used so...
- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person.

Diabetes and Dental Health

Diabetes is a degenerative disease, which affects your metabolism. As a result of metabolic irregularities, every part of the body is affected. The following are early indications of untreated diabetes:

In addition to the ones above, the following are associated symptoms:

  • Blurred vision
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Slow healing of cuts
  • Itchy skin

How can diabetes affect your mouth?

  • Diabetes increases the risk of infections and delayed regeneration of damaged/dead cells. As a result, fungal infections like thrush may develop in your mouth.
  • Because of poor healing of wounds as a result of diabetes, extensive gum damage may occur.
  • Periodontitis is a severe effect of diabetes in which your gums begin to move away from your teeth, leading to a formation of pockets between your gums and teeth, which fill up with pus and germs. The damage can be stopped only with gum surgery and removal of affected teeth.

Prevention

The single most effective way to prevent damage to your teeth is to actively control blood sugar content by regularly taking medicines and following a healthy diet recommended by your doctor. Common methods of dental protection go a long way to help prevent oral problems because of diabetes. These include:

  • Brush thoroughly and carefully after every meal (wait 30 minutes for food acids to neutralize, and then brush as this helps in effective cleaning)
  • Use non-alcoholic mouthwash to treat dry mouth and disinfect the oral cavity
  • Floss at least once everyday
  • Use a soft bristled toothbrush
  • Remove your dentures and clean them regularly. Do not sleep putting them on
  • Quit smoking, chewing tobacco and chewing gums with sugar in them

Maintain Teeth And Oral Cavity

Dentist, Bangalore
Maintain Teeth And Oral Cavity
  • Firstly brush twice daily by using soft or ultrasoft brush.
  • Brush in vertical motion, but not in horizontal motion. Don't apply pressure while brushing your teeth.
  • After brushing use mouth wash in diluted form (1: 1). Don't use tooth pick to remove the food that gets lodged in between the teeth. Use interdental brush to remove the food stuck in between your teeth. After having food gargle nicely with normal water. Keep your teeth and mouth clean.

Mere teeth bhahut sensitive h mujhe khata nhi khaya jata please help me what I do ?
Your teeth must be sensitive because your gums must have receded. Secondly other cause could be that you must be having a habit of clenching the teeth. If so please kindly refer dentist. They will prescribe you desensitising mouth wash and desensitising tooth paste.

Mouth ulcers are purely stress induced or due to intake of spice foods. Be relaxed and stress free. Take mucopain gel for relief.
