Masturbation is regarded as a normal, healthy sexual activity. In general, the medical community considers masturbation to be a natural and harmless expression of sexuality for both men and women. It does not cause any physical injury or harm to the body, and can be performed in moderation throughout a person's lifetime as a part of normal sexual behavior. It will not affect you or your ability to have children in the future. If you wish to reduce the frequency of masturbation: It originates from brain, due to thinking about sex. Hence: ·     Do not watch adult material. ·     Concentrate more on your studies or work. ·     Exercise regularly.

6 Ways To Improve Bone Health And Osteoporosis!

MBBS, DNB - Orthopedics, Fellowship in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine

6 Ways To Improve Bone Health And Osteoporosis!

Bones are similar to a porous framework which is filled with minerals that make it hard and strong. With age, there is gradual degradation and the mineralized portion is lost, thereby leading to thinning of the bone. The word osteoporosis literally translates to porous bones, which is due to the gradual demineralisation. In addition to the natural ageing process, there are other diseases that can accelerate the demineralization process.

Women are more prone to demineralisation, and after the age of 40, they should take extra precaution to slow down the onset of the condition. The following are some ways to improve bone health and halt osteoporosis in the long run-

  1. Diet: Ensure that your diet has sufficient amounts of vitamin D and calcium. Though calcium is the essential mineral for bone formation, vitamin D is required for the absorption of calcium, and therefore both these elements play a vital role in maintaining the quality of the bones in our body. Most people require about 1,000 mg of calcium and about 500 units of vitamin D for optimal bone health. This requirement goes up slightly in postmenopausal women.

  2. Sun Exposure: In most people, exposure to the sun allows the body to make vitamin D, but careful sun protection prevents this from happening. Also, with age, the body’s ability to form intrinsic vitamin D also declines. The body, therefore, relies on supplements. Most dairy products are good sources of calcium. In addition, spinach, salmon, turnips, and broccoli are some calcium-rich foods. Supplements of calcium carbonate or calcium citrate can be taken if your diet is lacking in calcium. Vitamin D also should be included in the supplementation. The treatment for osteoporosis is incomplete without these two supplements.

  3. Exercise With Weights: The constructive tension that exercise puts on the body helps in bone building, whatever the age may be, which prevents the onset of osteoporosis. Any exercise which improves muscle mass strengthens the bones, and puts stress on the bones is advisable. Since the fractured area due to osteoporosis mainly includes the spine, lower back exercises, yoga, tai chi, and abdominal exercises all work wonders. Pick any of these and do them for 30 minutes three times a week.

  4. Quit Smoking: Continuing to smoke while taking osteoporosis medications is completely useless. Nicotine negates all the effects which defeat the purpose of taking the medication and is as good as taking no medication at all. So if you want the bone thinning to stop, stop smoking.

  5. Alcohol Consumption: While a drink or two per week is permissible, more than this can harm the bones significantly.

  6. Constant Health Watch: Talk to your doctor about how other routine medications (if any) can affect your bone health. Also, identify how frequently you should check your bone mineral density and stick to the schedule.

Bone health and osteoporosis can be managed with some conscious efforts. Consult an Expert & get answers to your questions!

You can take a second opinion with another gynecologist and get clarification about your wife's present status of health. She should strive to maintain physical and mental fitness by adapting a very healthy life style. She should start exercising everyday. Yoga (including pranayam and meditation) can be very beneficial if done in a correct manner) Eat only healthy food and avoid all junk and processed food. Include more of fruits and vegetables. You can also try homeopathy which is a holistic science and addresses the problem and tries to treat at its root. A detailed history is necessary to begin homeopathic treatment. Dear sir/madam I am having a very peculiar pain below the neck from past one year. That pain sometimes radiates in the chest region and lower back. Before a year when I realised about the pain I use to do heat therapy at home .it use to pain during bathing and walking. I use to have shortness of breath. My bp suddenly rose one day and I had to consult the doc. The doc did not understand the problem. Later I consulted homeopath and general physician but they told me to consult a neurologist. My ECG report and spine x ray report was normal. But bp was 200 which came down after I took medication. I do not have any bp problem. Few months later the bp problem was gone and suddenly my mouth and left part got numb as if I had a paralytic attack this happened twice but that too stopped. Now at present whenever I eat food I get pain exactly below left shoulder. This pain retains till partially food gets digested and till gas comes out. For this I take dabur pain hara from past several months. It gives me relief from gas and the pain too. I get unbearable pain sometimes. After eating my wife massages that area below left shoulder resulting in burping and finally pain comes down. Besides whenever I get depressed or frightened I get severe pain in that area. Honestly speaking I live in a very small town where neurologists are not available. And most important thing is that I am going through financial crisis and currently cannot afford the consultation and treatment charges. I am not able to understand what problem am I facing exactly. Please help me find a solution in the best possible way. I will be very grateful to you ever after. I am suffering from past one year. I hope you understand my problem.

Sir, you need to consult a cardiologist, you will require Echo and an angiogram, because your symptoms suggest that you probably have a blockage. Also the weakness you have mentioned is called a TIA, it is a stroke which has luckily resolved spontaneously. This can be very dangerous, so kindly consult a cardiologist and a Neurologist ASAP so that you can be put on medical therapy. None of this can be treated without investigations, so even though you have mentioned your financial issues, for your safety you take consultations with a cardiologist and neurologist in person.

I have a hypokalemia paralysis with normal level of thyroid I continue my medicine from one month but still my poytasium is low day by day and I take everyday potkular potassium syrup i want to cure permanently so give me best best option.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Hypokalemic periodic paralysis is a disorder that causes occasional episodes of muscle weakness and sometimes a lower than normal level of potassium in the blood. It is one of a group of genetic disorders that includes hyperkalemic periodic paralysis and thyrotoxic periodic paralysis. Causes hypokalemic periodic paralysis is congenital. This means it is present at birth. In most cases, it is passed down through families (inherited) as an autosomal dominant disorder. In other words only one parent needs to pass the gene related to this condition on to you in order for you to be affected. Occasionally, the condition may be the result of a genetic problem that is not inherited. Unlike other forms of periodic paralysis, persons with congenital hypokalemic periodic paralysis have normal thyroid function. But they have a very low blood level of potassium during episodes of weakness. This results from potassium moving from the blood into muscle cells in an abnormal way. Risk factors include having other family members with periodic paralysis. The risk is slightly higher in asian men who also have thyroid disorders. The most important treatment in severe hypokalemia is addressing the cause, such as improving the diet, treating diarrhea, or stopping an offending medication. Patients without a significant source of potassium loss and who show no symptoms of hypokalemia may not require treatment. Mild hypokalemia (>3.0 meq/l) may be treated with oral potassium chloride supplements (klor-con, sando-k, slow-k). As this is often part of a poor nutritional intake, potassium-containing foods may be recommended, such as leafy green vegetables, tomatoes, coconut water, citrus fruits, oranges, or bananas.[14] both dietary and pharmaceutical supplements are used for people taking diuretic medications. Severe hypokalemia (<3.0 meq/l) may require intravenous supplementation. Typically, a saline solution is used, with 20? 40 meq/l kcl per liter over 3? 4 hours. Giving iv potassium at faster rates (20? 25 meq/hr) may predispose to ventricular tachycardias and requires intensive monitoring. A generally safe rate is 10 meq/hr. Even in severe hypokalemia, oral supplementation is preferred given its safety profile. Sustained-release formulations should be avoided in acute settings. Difficult or resistant cases of hypokalemia may be amenable to a potassium-sparing diuretic, such as amiloride, triamterene, spironolactone, or eplerenone. Concomitant hypomagnesemia will inhibit potassium replacement, as magnesium is a cofactor for potassium uptake. when replacing potassium intravenously, infusion by a central line is encouraged to avoid the frequent occurrence of a burning sensation at the site of a peripheral infusion, or the rare occurrence of damage to the vein. When peripheral infusions are necessary, the burning can be reduced by diluting the potassium in larger amounts of fluid, or mixing 3 ml of 1% lidocaine to each 10 meq of kcl per 50 ml of fluid. For more doubts you can ask me privately.

Hello doctor, I use to Sweat a lot on my face it is too bad my whole shirt use to get wet after little work done how to treat this please help.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi. Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterized by abnormally increased sweating, in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. It can be associated with a significant quality of life burden from a psychological, emotional, and social perspective. Hyperhidrosis can either be generalized, or localized to specific parts of the body. Hands, feet, armpits, and the groin area are among the most active regions of perspiration due to the high number of sweat glands in these areas. When excessive sweating is localized (e.g. palms, soles, face, underarms, scalp) it is referred to as primary hyperhidrosis or focal hyperhidrosis. Excessive sweating involving the whole body is termed generalized hyperhidrosis or secondary hyperhidrosis. It is usually the result of some other, underlying condition. The cause of primary hyperhidrosis is unknown, although some physicians claim it is caused by overactivity of the sympathetic nervous system. Anxiety or excitement can exacerbate the condition for many sufferers. A common complaint of patients is they get nervous because they sweat, then sweat more because they are nervous. Other factors can play a role, including certain foods and drinks, nicotine, coffee-intake, caffeine, and smells. Overweight people sweat more profusely than normal-weight individuals because fat acts as an insulator that raises core temperature. Some things are in your control when it comes to sweating. Not all excessive sweating is weight-related. But even if your sweating has another cause, getting to a healthy weight is a good idea. Other causes are: A hot and humid environment and exercise are the most obvious causes of sweating. Additional factors that contribute to excessive sweating include alcohol, caffeine, medications and spicy foods. Conditions such as fever, menopause, overactive thyroid, low blood sugar and cancer can lead to excessive sweating. Emotional triggers such as stress, anxiety, anger, fear and embarrassment can contribute to this condition. Diets that include spicy food also might have lots of calories and fat, contributing to both extra pounds and excessive sweating. Being overweight often leads to low self-esteem and lack of confidence in social situations, which can lead to higher stress levels and more sweating. Losing weight can help correct the emotional affects and higher sweat levels. Don't assume your excessive sweating is attributable solely to excess weight. Sweating can be a sign of medical problem, so get yourself thoroughly examined by a doctor with required investigations to be done. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine- Silicea 30 and Bacopa Monierri 1x - both thrice daily for 4 weeks.
