Hello lybrate-user your teeth is sensitive to cold, that means either your teeth are having cavities or they are having deposits causing to the root surface to get exposed leading to sensitivity to cold, or you are practicing wrong brushing technique, you are doing harsh brushing causing the upper protective layer that is enamel to wear off leading exposure of dentinal tubules causing sensitivity to cold. If there is cavity, or cervical abrasions go for fillings, if cavity is deep enough causing pulpal exposure, you might b needing root canal treatment. And if deposits are there, go for scaling (professional cleaning). To slove these problem please visit dentist.

I had visited dentist for scaling as my teeth are yellow. I had lot of pain once he started. He stopped the process and told me to apply senquel f as my teeth are very sensitive. But after a month also there was pain while scaling and could not be done. Doctor has recommended to continue applying senquel f for more time. What else can I do for sensitivity?

Problem of teeth cavity and problem of gums swelling and pyrrhoea of teeth cavity in human being.

Problem of teeth cavity and problem of gums swelling and pyrrhoea of teeth cavity in human being.
Dear lybrate-user, cavity in the tooth needs to be treated appropriately depending upon the extent of the decay. You may visit a qualified dentist and get a detailed examination of the problem to seek an appropriate treatment, also the symptoms which you have described relate to gum disease in which there are calculus, tartar, plaque deposits on the teeth and the gums become weak and swollen. There is also bleeding from the gums and foul smell from the mouth. The teeth become loose this maybe what is commonly known as pyorrhoea. You need to consult a qualified dentist and get your teeth cleaned and the gums treated.

The type of treatment you have for toothache /sensitivity/swelling will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed. Pulp therapy is absolutely safe however the child should be supportive or it can also be done in general anaesthesia. As he is 4 years old, that teeth should be saved till the permanent teeth come, and the treatment will not affect the eruption of permanent teeth.

Bleeding gums can be a sign of early gum disease. She needs to get a professional cleaning of your teeth done to remove any accumulated tartar. This should solve her problem. After that regular day to day care like twice a day brushing and vigorous rinsing after any food will keep your gums and teeth healthy.

I am 20, I have bad smell from my mouth, what should I do to to stop it ?

MDS - Orthodontics, BDS
Dentist,
Brush twice daily for atleast 5 min with soft brush, and use any good mouthwash for 1 min after any meal. Brush cleans only 50% area of oral cavity, rest 50 % can only be clean by mouthwash but make sure to choose a mouthwash cause many mouthwash only long term use have side effect so choose mouthwash correctly. And also I recommend to visit a dentist for professional cleaning of teeth.

Dry mouth also can cause bad breath. Smoking or chewing tobacco-based products also can cause bad breath, You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then.

All toothpaste have nearly similar ingredients like Abrasives, Fluorides, Surfactants, Antibacterial agents, Flavourants, Remineralizers, Fluoride, Diethylene glycol, Triclosan etc. Only the wrong brushing technique that we follow harms our teeth and gums. So consult your dentist, learn proper brushing technique, Brush your teeth twice a day, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush to protect your teeth and gums from plaque and calculus. Floss your teeth inter dentally once a day. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months. Consume a healthy diet rich in vegetables and lean protein. Reduce your intake of sugary foods and beverages. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Drink plenty of fluoridated tap water. Drink not consume alcohol drinks. Don’t smoke.
