How to increase the sperm count as we are trying for a second baby from last 11 months but it's not getting success. Kindly help.

How to increase the sperm count as we are trying for a second baby from last 11 months but it's not getting success. ...
There are many things you can do to keep yourself and your sperms healthy. These include: 1.     Avoid cigarettes and illicit drugs, especially anabolic steroids. 2.     Avoid exposure to toxins such as pesticides and heavy metals. 3.     Quit or at least limit your alcohol intake. 4.     Drink 3-4 litres of water per day. 5.     Have a healthy, nutritious diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. 6.     Exercise moderately, but regularly. 7.     Get sufficient rest. 8.     Keeping your scrotum cool, because heat slows sperm production; wear boxers instead of briefs, and avoid pants that are tight or restrictive. 9.     Prevent overheating of the testes by avoiding hot baths, Jacuzzis, steam rooms and using a laptop computer directly on your lap for long lengths of time.

Diagnosis and Treatment for Glaucoma

MS, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Diagnosis and Treatment for Glaucoma

Glaucoma: An Overview
This disease can be developed or inherited; it usually refers to the accumulation of fluid inside a person's eyes leading to excessive pressure on his or her optic nerve.

How to Diagnose the Symptoms of Glaucoma:

  1. A Fundamental Eye Examination: An experienced eye doctor will check the dilated pupils of your eyes so as to take a closer look at the optic nerve that further discerns the stage of glaucoma a patient is in. Doctors tend to keep track on the sequential progression of glaucoma and its specific mode of treatment through pictures of the optic nerve taken during an examination.
  2. Tonometry may also be performed: Signs of Glaucoma may be spotted through the procedure called tonometry where the doctor will test a person's eye pressure and so on so forth. A visual field test might also be conducted to check if the patient can see things at the periphery of his line of vision.

Symptoms that will help a doctor identify this condition in people:

  1. A loss of peripheral vision is experienced in the early stages of glaucoma.
  2. A person may see halos when in the presence of bright lights.
  3. Your eyes could turn red.
  4. Hazy or blurry vision is a problem faced by young children affected with glaucoma.
  5. Glaucoma could be accompanied by headaches and eye pain.
  6. An affected person might repeatedly feel nauseous.

Ways to Treat Glaucoma:

  1. Microsurgery can effectively treat Glaucoma: Microsurgery can be performed in various ways. There is one way in which a channel is made to pump out the fluid creating extra pressure on the optic nerve. This method is referred to as trabeculectomy.
  2. Eye Drops: Eye drops can relieve you from painful glaucoma. They are known to control the formation of excess fluid in a person's eye. In some cases, they can induce the accumulating fluid to flow out of the patient's eyes.
  3. Laser Treatment: Laser surgeries can be undertaken to get rid of glaucoma. Laser can help in moving out fluid from the eyes of the affected person. It successfully hinders fluid blockage as well. There are different kinds of laser treatments available to cure glaucoma.

Sir how to prevent jaundice? What and all food habits has to followed to prevent jaundice?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Jaundice is a liver disease affecting millions of people all over the world. This clinical condition is characterized by yellowing of the skin and eyes due to the build-up of bilirubin (bile) in the body. The incidence of jaundice is rising in India due to the fact that people lack awareness about this health complication. However, it is not always possible to prevent jaundice ,but following few precautionary measures can minimise the risk. Here are five tips to help you prevent or minimise the risk of jaundice – 1.Maintain proper hygiene and sanitation The first and foremost step to prevent infectious diseases like jaundice is by implementing high standards of hygiene and sanitation. Wash your hands with soap before eating food and after using the wash-room to restrict viral transmission. 2.Eat fresh and warm food During the monsoons, the chances of food contamination are high and hence people are advised against eating out and at unhygienic places. Always eat fresh fruits and properly cooked vegetables, preferably warm foods in order to lower your risk of liver infection. 3.Drink clean water This disease can spread through infected water and hence, it is recommended that people should drink boiled and filtered water. Avoid drinking water from unhygienic places and also bottled water (if you doubt the source of water). 4.Vaccination Get yourself and your kids vaccinated with the hepatitis vaccine (and booster) in order to prevent the disease. It is also recommended that you get your vaccination done if you are travelling to places where this disease is endemic or if your job (involves working in a high-risk area such as labs and hospitals. 5.Lifestyle factors In case you are alcoholic, try to restrict yourself to not more than 3 drinks per day, as excessive drinking puts you at risk of developing the disease. Try to maintain a healthy weight (if obese) and indulge in exercising as high cholesterol levels in the body may increase your risk of other health complications which in turn may cause hepatitis.

4 Steps to Reduce Heartburn, Gas & Indigestion

MBBS, MS - General Surgery , DNB (General Surgery), MNAMS (Membership of the National Academy), Fellow HPB Surgery & Liver Transplant (Singapore) , FICS - RPSLH - RPSLH
Gastroenterologist, Hyderabad
4 Steps to Reduce Heartburn, Gas & Indigestion

Feeling bloated or acidic after a heavy meal can take away all the satisfaction the taste of food gave you. Indigestion and gas are some of the most common gastrointestinal problems faced by people around the world. In most cases, indigestion is a result of bad food choices and unhealthy lifestyles. Thus they can simply be relieved at home and do not necessarily need medication. Here are 4 easy steps to lower heartburn, gas and indigestion.

  1. Add more fiber to your food: Fiber is crucial to healthy digestion. It is easy to digest and help push waste out of the system by adding bulk. In this way, fiber helps detoxify the system as well. It also prevents diabetes, heart disease, hemorrhoids and other diseases. Add fiber to your diet in the form of whole grains, cereals, fruits, vegetables, nuts and plenty of water. Ideally, a woman should have 25 gms of fiber a day and men should have 38 grams of fiber a day.
  2. Healthy food eating habits: How you eat also makes a difference to your digestion. Instead of eating on the move, eat mindfully. Chew your food carefully to begin the digestive system. Eating smaller portions can also help improve stomach functioning. Avoid fast foods that are difficult to digest. Ensure that you do not eat anything for at least an hour before going to bed. Lying down immediately after a meal is one of the leading causes of indigestion.
  3. Probiotics: Gut bacteria is essential for healthy digestion. This bacteria helps maintain a healthy inner ecosystem and help fight harmful viruses, yeast and other such microorganisms. This balance of gut bacteria can be affected by an unhealthy lifestyle like excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, stress and certain prescription drugs. Supplementing your natural probiotic enzymes with food rich in probiotics like yogurt or probiotic supplements can help make your digestion better.
  4. Exercise Regularly: Exercise is necessary not only for a fit body but also for healthy digestion. Exercising also helps fight stress that is one of the leading causes of indigestion. Taking a walk after meals can help regulate the passage of food and gases in your digestive system. This prevents bloating and heartburn. Physical activity also helps stimulate your bowels to prevent constipation and prevent gaseous build up. Some forms of exercise you could try are yoga, swimming and cycling. A word of caution; always ensure that there is at least an hour's gap between exercising and your last meal. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.
