Try to eat a small snack an hour before workout. Eat a banana and drink Nimbupani just before work out. During workouts, keep having sips of water during breaks. If the duration is long you can carry some milk/glucose water with you to have during breaks. Immediately after coming you can have nimbu pani/buttermilk/lassi. Try to eat slowly and mindfully when you eat your dinner. Try to stretch your eating time. If you still feel hungry you can eat in the morning. Avoid oily stuff in dinner. Avoid pickles and papad. Try to give a gap of one hour between food and sleep.

I am suffering from hair fall problem. How will I solve this problem? please solve my problem.

I am suffering from hair fall problem. How will I solve this problem? please solve my problem.
Is your hair loss accompanied with greying of hair and have they become very thin? your hair needs a very high protein well-rounded diet. Hair and nails are the last organs to get nutrition in the body, hence only if all the organs get sufficient nutrition and proteins, only then the remaining nutrition would be used for hairs. A strand of hair is composed of mostly protein, which means your hair needs protein to grow. Hence a therapeutic diet prescribed by a registered dietitian can help a lot in hair growth. Besides diet excessive stress, current/past dandruff and some medication are conclusively known to retard hair growth and promote hair loss. - cut down on the use of hair spray, hair gels, and styling creams that contain harsh chemical ingredients, which can dry out the scalp and cause the formation of flakes. Also harsh treatments such as perms, colours, relaxers etc take a toll on the health of your hair. - avoid changing your shampoo and conditioner constantly. Stick to one good mild cleansing shampoo for six months before changing. - excessive exposure to the sun, pollution, rain water and dust without proper protection makes the hair dry, brittle and limp. Use a live in conditioner during the rains to protect it from the humidity and wash and oil it regularly to maintain a healthy scalp. I may also prescribe medications like biotin or minox. That are proven to help in hair growth and repair.

Your delayed periods are not due to pregnancy, since you had sex 10 to 11 months ago. You cannot be pregnant due to that sexual activity now. Irregular Periods can be due to Hormonal Imbalances, Thyroid disorder, Stress, weight gain, nutritional deficiency etc. Remedies: -Boil 1 teaspoon saffron in ½ cup water. Let it reduce to become 1 tablespoon. Divide this decoction into three portions and take with equal quantities of water, thrice daily for 15 days. -Make a powder of Black til, saunf, methi seeds and consume it with jaggery (gur) regularly for 1month or until your periods come. Yogasanas- Bhujangasana, Sarvangasana, Ardh-Chakrasan.

I am 27yr old female and have over hair fall problems of 5 months. What shoud I do?

Diploma in homeopathy, B. Sc
Homeopath, Gurgaon
You need to balance your vitamins, minerals and the ph of your body. Long ignored imbalances in the body appear on the surface and are indications of deficiencies in the system. If not properly addressed they can remain and worsen. Your diet must include fresh fruits and a full serving of salads at every meal: cucumber, tomato, carrot, radish, onion slices or spring onion, raw cauliflower, cabbage leaf, etc. All this is essential to give you a balanced nutrient boost. Cut out any junk food and aerated drinks totally. Generally foods that come out of a packet, or can, or bottle shud be avoided. Exercise to increase circulation:- 2 mins of medium/ hard exercise then 1 min rest - do this four times a day. You can either do it all in one go or split it into sessions through the day. In total it is only 12 mins a day so should not be a big issue. A very useful exercise is to jump in one place simulating skipping. Build up your time to 2 mins. Of jumping. In conclusion, live and eat healthy and you will develop energy, a glowing skin and a healthy'go' in life -regardless of age. I'll send you a list of supporting meds once I hear from you.

How can I remove pimple marks on my face? please tell me the best suggestion?

Dietitian/Nutritionist,
How can I remove pimple marks on my face? please tell me the best suggestion?
do let me know if you also have blackheads with pimples? and what current medications and remedies you already tried to treat acne? acne is a common problem in teen. Almost everybody will get pimples during their teen years. First, don't try to self treat acne. Some popular nonprescription acne lotions, cleansers and other skin products can cause a serious reaction (rare), mostly it is normal to have acne in teenage. For pimples it's important to wash your face twice daily to remove impurities, dead skin cells, and extra oil from your skin's surface, avoid touching your face or propping your cheek or chin on your hands. Not only can you spread bacteria, you can also irritate the already inflamed facial skin. Never pick or pop pimples with your fingers, as it can lead to infection and scarring. A dietary therapy with the right medications for pimples can also help a lot. Kojic acid (a natural skin lightener derived from mushroom extract), arbutin (also called bearberry extract), and vitamin c (ascorbic acid) are great alternative ingredients to lighten scars left by acne. Don't use vitamin e or any self prescribed preparations on scars or pimples. Increasing the intake of omega-3 fatty acids through a diet significantly rich in fish and seafood results in lower rates of an inflammatory disease like acne. A low-glycemic-index diet also reduces acne risk. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

4 Common orthopedic problems faced by aged people

4 Common orthopedic problems faced by aged people

As you age your body gives way to a number of health problems including those associated with the bones, ligaments, joints, and muscles. But certain orthopedic problems are very common among the aged due to the different biological changes that occur in the bodies of the aged. Nonetheless, some of these very common orthopedic problems are:

  • Osteoarthritis - This is a degenerative condition that occurs in the hands, ankles, fingers, spine and knees. When the condition strikes, it hampers your ability to perform everyday tasks, specifically activities that require you to be flexible, agile and mobile. Although no cure is available for treating this condition, there are certain methods that you can employ to increase flexibility and reduce pain.
  • Osteoporosis - Once you cross the 30th mark in age, your ability to absorb calcium decreases and the formation of new bones see a hit. As a result, your body begins to absorb calcium that has been stored in the bones, leading to a weakening of the bones. This condition is known as osteoporosis and is said to occur in individuals above the age of 50.
  • Fractures - Fractures are also very common among the aged. They occur due to a decrease in your bone mineral density (it stands for the amount of minerals present in your bone tissue). When this happens, it causes you to suffer from brittle and weaker bones. In combination with physical problems faced during old age, especially vision problems and unsteady body balance, the prospects of suffering from fractures increase significantly.
  • Dislocation of bones - Occurring after a fall, dislocation of bones and joints is another common orthopedic problem you may face as you grow old. The initial treatment for any dislocation involves RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation.

My skin is so oily, and have black spots on my face what should we do to get out of this problem?

Advanced Aesthetics
Ayurveda, Gulbarga
My skin is so oily, and have black spots on my face what should we do to get out of this problem?
Hereditary Medications ? Allergies: Allergies cause itching, and this further leads to darkening of the area around the eye. ? Eczema: In case of eczema, the skin becomes darker due to the rub and itch. Anemia: ? Fatigue: Fatigue leads to engorged veins and under eye circles appear. ? Nutritional deficiencies: Unhealthy diet and incomplete nutrition are significantly related to dark eye circles. Diet lacking in essential vitamins A and E that are essential for healthy skin may lead to these dark eye circles. Tomato Tomatoes have bleaching properties that can lighten skin to a great extent. ? Mix one teaspoon of tomato juice with one-half teaspoon of lemon juice. Gently apply this mixture on the dark circles and allow it to sit for 10 minutes. Rinse it off with water. Follow this remedy twice a day for a few weeks. Simply using tomato juice will also work. ? You can also drink a glass of tomato juice with some mint leaves, lemon juice and salt. For maximum results, be sure to drink this juice immediately after making it. Drink it once or twice a day for about a week.

Sir, now I'm 45 yrs. I am interested for doing jogging everyday morning. So kindly advice me how much time I want to ...
Hi lybrate user. Jogging is a good exercise and provides you much more fitness than walking. It tones legs and can reduce your weight much faster than other slow / static exercises. Walking burns 250 calories @ speed 5 kmph and jogging at 8 kmph will burn 550 calories. All calculated per hour. Just this shift from walking to jogging alone can help reduce 300 x 30 days = 9000 calories per month = about 1.5 kgs. This can help you lose about 7-10 kgs in 6 months. If you are graduating from walking to jogging. Then do it gradually. Walk for 10 mins then jog for 2 mins. Then 3 mins walk. And repeat this cycle. As your stamina and strength grows. You can switch to 2 and 2. Then 5 jog. 2 walk. Like that you can keep increasing the jog time versus walk time. Aim is to keep stretching your body and see how much you can push it without getting injured. Human body is designed to keep moving and running. My philosophy is - either you use it or you lose it! you know your body best. You can work out your own limits!

For weight loss you definitely need to streamline your lifestyle by any modification that it may require like altering eating pattern, exercise and stress relief. The real need for weight loss is purely motivation from your end. Will require your diet recall to plan a personalised well balanced diet plan. There are may fad / crash diets availablewhich even if they show results in the short term may have some health implications later or simply helps you gain back more weight then what you have lost. Avoid falling for such tall claims and opt for a slow and steady weight loss. I shall recommend a strategy to gradually change your food habits and lifestyle that have sabotaged your past efforts. Incase you are interested in getting professional help on your diet pls feel free to consult me privately online.

I am 24 years old make. What should I do to increases my fitness and immunity level. Particularly in summer and hot days.

MSc
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Chandigarh
Hi lybrate-user here are some changes to make to improve your eating habits: - incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your diet while eliminating unhealthy foods. - if you are working or studying away from home, try to pack healthy lunch and snacks for yourself to avoid eating unhealthy food daily. - don't eat straight from the packet - use a plate or bowl to control how much you eat. - don't delay or skip meals. - cut down your consumption of aerated drinks and sodas. - drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Drink water after waking up and before sleeping. Being dehydrated may make you feel like you're hungry, so it is important to stay hydrated. - have homemade fruit and vegetable juices - eat 5-6 small healthy meals every 2-3 hours, every day, instead of having a few big ones. This regulates your blood sugar level and your metabolism. - don't skip breakfast, instead, make it rich with complex carbohydrates and proteins, so it can provide you with energy to get through the day. Try to include the following as your morning breakfast, oats porridge, eggs on multigrain toast or daliya with sprouts. - avoid artificial sweeteners in processed foods. - eat slowly as it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register if you're full or not. Eating too fast leads to overeating, so chew slowly to digest your food better and control how much you eat. - use a smaller plate to control your portion sizes and avoid overeating. - know your cravings and do not snack when you're emotional. It is said that you crave crunchy and savory food when you're stressed, frustrated or lonely. Figure out what you crave and replace them with healthier alternatives. - do not eat mindlessly; concentrate on your food instead of watching tv or playing with your phone to avoid overeating.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
I am 20 year old my height is 5'5 I want to increase my height so how can I tall
?
Hi. As height can be gained till 21 yrs. Of age in males and 18 yrs. In females, so there are 5 yrs. More left to grow further! medication: start taking homoeopathic medicines which are safe to take without any side-effects - bakson's hite-aid and five phos. - both thrice daily and thuja 1m/ one dose once a week - take them for 4 months. Management: consume a balanced diet. A person will look a lot shorter when having a plump body. Not only that, being fit by eating right will make you taller and feel better! eat plenty of lean protein. Lean protein, such as white poultry meat, fish, soy, and dairy, helps promote muscle growth and healthy bones. Simple carbohydrates such as pizza, cakes, sweets, and soda, are the stuff to stay away from. Eat plenty of calcium. Calcium, found in leafy green vegetables such as spinach and kale, and in dairy (yogurt and milk), helps promote healthy bones. Get enough zinc. Studies, although they have been inconclusive so far, point to a possible link between zinc deficiencies and stunted growth in boys. Good sources of zinc include oysters, wheat germ, pumpkin and squash seeds, lamb, peanuts, and crab. Get enough vitamin d. Vitamin d promotes bone and muscle growth in children, and a deficiency has been shown to stunt growth and cause weight gain in teenage girls. Vitamin d can be found in fish, alfalfa, or mushrooms commonly. 60% to 80% of your height is determined by genes! apart from these: -exercise throughout the teen years and in puberty. Get out and about and work your muscles for at least 30 minutes each day. Join a gym, join a sports team, if nothing else, walk around. Do get indulge in stretch exercises, and sports like basketball, volleyball. -sleeping is the time when your body grows, get between 9 and 11 hours of sleep per night if you're a preteen or still younger than 20. -avoid any bad habit like smoking which affects the height, also avoid anabolic steroids which inhibit bone growth in young children and teens. -always stand straight instead of hunching your back. (you can probably increase your height by a few inches with diet and lifestyle changes, especially if you are still in your teens or even your early 20s (for boys).) get back to me after 4 months for further guidance. All the best!

I am 50 years old female. My periods have stopped and now slowly I am developing moustache. What must I do to remove it?
As you are postmenopausal, there is excessive hormone build up in your body which is responsible for the hair growth or hirsutism. Electrolysis and laser hair removal are best options, but expensive and may require multiple settings. Electrolysis uses an electric current applied to each hair follicle to destroy its root. Laser hair removal involves shooting a laser beam at each hair follicle to destroy its root. Shaving, bleaching, plucking, waxing, and using depilatories (creams that dissolve hair) are some of the more common ways of removing or hiding unwanted hair.
