I am having tooth decay with third molar, second molar and first molar . One teeth is almost gone . Center of teeth hole is coming . What i need to do to prevent that

BDS
Dentist, Raipur
Kindly get the fillings done in whichever teeth you can, root canal treatment if one of the tooth which you feel is quite deep and can be saved. For all this you will have to go to a dentist as he or she might be seeing and if required taking an x-ray to plan your treatment. Please ensure to brush twice daily using correct brushing technique to prevent further damage.

Hello lybrate-user, The Condition you going through is known as Mid-line diastema. When a thickened labial frenum – the tissue band that connects the lips to the upper gum – is the cause of diastema, we often must work in cooperation with an oral surgeon to permanently close the gap. An oral surgeon can perform a frenectomy, which is a procedure to remove a portion of the thickened tissue. This procedure is required because otherwise, the tissue will continue to prevent us from bringing the two front teeth together with orthodontic treatment. Even when methods such as this are used to correct diastema, retention after treatment is paramount to prevent the teeth from gradually drifting apart once more. There was a time when orthodontists recommended wearing retainers for a year or two after completing orthodontic treatment. But these days, we recommend wearing your retainers a few times per week for life to ensure your teeth remain in proper alignment. This is particularly true for lifetime correction of diastema cases.

Hello doctor. Yesterday I felt hard bump on roof of my mouth while I was just touching tongue on it. When I checked in mirror it looks like small colourless lump just like other area of the skin. It is painless and to tongue it feels like some hard bone bump. I am feeling little scared because I smoke occasionally.

Hi lybrate-user, Do not worry just maintain your normal oral hygiene, everything is normal only. Just keep a check if the size of the lump grows in 6 months or so. And its nothing related to your habit of smoking. But it would be good if you can try and quit smoking. Few of my patients have tried NICOTEX and they have been able to quit smoking. U can also try and get rid of it.

2 Biggest Dental Mistakes that Indians Make!

2 Biggest Dental Mistakes that Indians Make!
2 Biggest dental mistakes that Indians make!

Your dental health chiefly depends on the way you care for your teeth and gums. Most Indians consider maintaining oral health a very simple thing, and end up committing quite a few dental blunders as a result. As a result, a whopping 95% of the population in India suffers from gum disease! (Source: National Oral Health Programme)

Read on to find which of these dental mistakes you are making and how to avoid them.

1. Not flossing your teeth
Flossing plays a significant role in getting rid of sticky bacteria or plaque from your teeth. The acid generated by dental plaque is the chief cause behind oral cavities, gum irritation and various other gum diseases. Flossing is essential for cleaning the space between your teeth and in turn eliminating most of the bacteria present in your mouth. This is the very reason it should not be ignored. However in India, well over 70% of the population does not floss.

2. Not regularly visiting the dentist
Most Indians have the habit of not visiting the dentist at regular intervals due to laziness, a forgetful nature or fear. Quite a few hold the common belief that if they aren’t experiencing a toothache, they don’t need to visit the dentist at all. Only 2% of Indians visit the dentist. This often puts you in greater risks of developing a gum disease, which may require painful and costly treatment in the future. So, make it a priority to visit the dentist at least once every year to ensure better dental health.

Hi, gum bleeding is a sign of gum disease which is caused most commonly by deposition of calculus on teeth. Rather than trying for home remedies, get a dental checkup done so that gum bleeding can be cured permanently. Regards.

Sir mere muh 3 saal se 2 ungli hi jati hai abhi tak koi ilaaj nahi karvaya hai koi upaye bataye.
You have not mentioned about gutkha chewing habit or so. Anyway be clear about this that at this stage no home remedy will work. You need to visit an specialist dentist and at maximum it may require a surgical approach in your case if medicines and exercises fails. You can ask me further in this regard as I myself have treated several such cases with lasers. Thank you.

The last of my teeth has been removed last week. I am now toothless. Waiting for the heeling of the Bone on which the Dentures will be mounted. Before the making of the denture-casts for the upper jaw and the lower jaw, I understand Alioloplasty needs to be performed on the jaw-bones to smoothen any protrusions in the bone on which the dentures would be resting. What is Alioloplasty ? How long does it take ti heal after Alioloplasty ? What are the steps to complete the the dentures, after Alioloplasty ? and what are options for choosing the Denture-base and teeth-material and the pros and cons of the options ? What about using implant for the lower Denture allowing removal of the denture for cleaning. Are the dentures to be removed before going to bed ?

BDS, Non-Resident J.R. in Dept. of Orthodontics, Certified oral implantologist, Advanced Aesthetics, Digital Smile Designer
Dentist, Jammu
Alveoloplasty is the reshaping of the bone crest to attain a smooth uniform level of bone for proper retention , stability and support of dentures. It takes generally 3 weeks to 8 weeks fr complete healing. The dentures are made from acrylic, lucitone, dpi etc. Implant supported lower denture will provide better support and retention. Yes dentures should be removed before going to bed,for proper recirculation of gums(alveolar mucosa) at night.
