No constipation is due to wrong and irregular intake food. And less water intake. You should have lots of leafy vegetables and cereals lean meat like chicken and fish if you are non vegetarian. Go for regular morning walk followed by free hand exercises. Do not take spicy and junk food. The heart burn is duebto hyperacidity. Take regular milk in regular intervals. Milk is a good antacid.

My age is 28 years. I have been getting treatment for hypertension for last 3.5 years. Initially I was on telmisartan 40 mg then some combinations were used by doctor later I started exercise and a year ago I used to feel fainted post which doctor reduced telma dosgae to 20 mg which I hv been using for more than a year now and BP was regular during this time. But recently my BP reading was 160/100 later doctor advised to check it frequently and it was near this reading only. I got my lipid profile done and result: cholesterol was 213, triglyceride 241, HDL 38, LDL 126.8, VLDL 48.2, total cholesterol/HDL 5.60 & Non HDL 175 this report also has huge difference in lipid levels as compared to previous one done 3 months ago/which was pretty normal. Now doc has advised to take CTD-T 6.25/40 along withatorvastatin10 mg. And I am doing exercise regularly. Would I be able to go back to lower dosage of this drug or whn can I expect to not to have this medicine as it's been a long time that I am not this treatment and also do these drugs have side effect on me. Also do I need to get some more tests done?

• Try to keep your consumption of saturated fats to a minimum. • Aim to replace saturated fats, with moderate amounts of ‘good’ fats also known as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. • Grill, steam, boil and bake foods instead of frying and roasting. • Eat plenty of fibre-rich foods. • Enjoy healthy snacks such as fruit, nuts and seeds, olives etc. • Eat at least two portions of fish per week, one of which should be oily (Choose from salmon, mackerel, sardines, pilchards or herring). • Include foods enriched with plant stanols/sterols, which are clinically proven to lower ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol as part of a healthy diet and lifestyle. • Stay physically active. at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise on five or more days of the week. • Avoid smoking. • Try and manage your stress levels. Foods to avoid Limit saturated fats and oils, such as butter, palm oil, and coconut oil. Instead, use soft vegetable oils, such as olive or canola oil. Avoid trans fats or partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. These oils go through a process that makes them solid. They're found in some hard margarines, snack crackers, cookies, and chips. Limit fatty meats such as corned beef, , ribs, steak, ground meat, hot dogs, sausage, bacon, and processed meats . Also limit organ meats like liver and kidney. Replace with skinless chicken or turkey, lean beef, pork, lamb, and fish. Try some meatless main dishes, like beans, peas, pasta, or rice. Limit meat, poultry, and fish to no more than two servings, or 140 g, a day. Remember that a serving is about the size of a deck of playing cards. Limit egg yolks.  Limit milk products that contain more than 1% milk fat. This includes cream, most cheeses, and nondairy coffee creamers or whipped topping (which often contain coconut or palm oils). Instead try fat-free or low-fat milk (0% to 1% fat) and low-fat cheeses.  Limit snack crackers, muffins, quick breads, croissants, and cakes made with saturated or hydrogenated fat, whole eggs, or whole milk. Try low-fat baked goods, and use any spreads or toppings lightly. Instead of using butter or margarine on bread, try dipping it in olive oil. Avoid fast foods like hamburgers, fries, fried chicken, and tacos. They are high in both total fat and saturated fat. When you eat out, choose broiled sandwiches or chicken without skin, salads with low-fat dressing, and foods that aren't fried. Ask the server to leave off the cheese and high-fat dressings like mayonnaise. Homoeopathic medicine ALLIUM SATIVA Q ( Dr Reckeweg) Drink 10 drop in 20 ml freh water twice daily CHOLESTRINUM 3X ( Dr Reckeweg) Chew 2 tabs twice daily Report after 3months with latest blood reports of your lipid profile.

Some holes do get okay as baby grows. You need a specialist who will evaluate the symptoms like blueness on skin, body temperature along with other symptoms suggesting need for an operation. Good luck.

Im butchireddy im suffering with breathing problem. Sometimes it blocks my heart upto burp coming. It comes on night ...
Hello lybrate-user, the symptoms you have described characteristically fits into gerd, which stands for gastroeaophageal reflux disease. Here the stomach acid when you lie flat or after heavy meals reflux back into the food pipe which may cause nausea, burping, breathlessness, feeling of acidic taste in the throat. This deserves a detailed discussion with your doctor. However some important measured you can take is. 1) avoid spicy, oily preserved food. No chocolates, aerated drinks, tea, coffee 2) avoid heavy meals and sleeping immediately after meals at least for one and half hours 3) raise head end of your bed by a already 10-12 inch s. Try using two pillows to sleep 4) take a medicine like sompraz d 40 mg 15 mins before breakfast for 2 weeks at least. Let me know how you feel in 2- 3 days after starting medication and we may evaluate it furthur as I believe that the cause of your breathing issue is because of the stomach.

About Stroke

Stroke has a new indicator! read and pass on.

Stroke has a new indicator
Stroke - they now have a fourth indicator, the tongue

Stroke: remember the 1st three letters.
S. T. R.
Stroke identification:

During a bbq, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics. She said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6: 00 pm jane passed away.) she had suffered a stroke at the bbq. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps jane would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.
It only takes a minute to read this.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke. Totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

Recognizing a stroke

Thank god for the sense to remember the'3' steps, str. Read and learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three (3) simple questions:
S *ask the individual to smile.
T *ask the person to talk and speak a simple sentence (coherently)
(i. E. Chicken soup)
R *ask him or her to raise both arms.

If he or she has trouble with any one of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
New sign of a stroke -------- stick out your tongue!

Note: another'sign' of a stroke is this: ask the person to'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is
'crooked, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

I have done my part. Will you also?

Doctors say my friend has a hole in his heart. How did that happen. What does it mean. Can it heal.
Dear lybrateuser, -A hole in the heart is usually from birth, it is a small passage between the chambers of the heart(a developmental defect) which closes on its own but in some people it remains open -it can heal on its own which is a very slow process -if it remains open & causes problem then check up & surgery may be required .

Understanding Silent Heart Attacks

FSCAI (Int Card), FACC (Card), FACP (Int Medicine), MBBS
Cardiologist, Delhi
Understanding Silent Heart Attacks

A heart attack does not always have obvious symptoms, such as pain in your chest, shortness of breath and cold sweats. In fact, a heart attack can actually happen without a person knowing it. This condition is known as a ‘silent heart attack’, medically known as ‘silent ischemia’, occurring due to the shortage of oxygen supply to the heart muscle.

The causes of a silent heart attack are similar to that of a heart attack. They include-

  1. Obesity or excess weight

  2. Lack of exercise

  3. Disorders such as diabetes

  4. High blood pressure

  5. High cholesterol

  6. Age, usually above 65

  7. Heart diseases

  8. Consumption of tobacco or smoking

A silent cardiac arrest makes one more vulnerable to another heart attack that could be fatal.

Diagnosis:

The only method to diagnose if you had a silent heart attack is through imaging tests, such as echocardiogram, electrocardiogram or others. These tests can show certain changes which might be indicative of a heart attack.

An analysis of one’s overall health and the symptoms can aid in deciding whether few more tests are required.

How would you prevent a silent heart attack?

  1. Get your cholesterol and blood pressure count tested regularly.

  2. Refrain from smoking.

  3. Be aware of your body and call on a doctor if you feel there’s anything which is bothering you. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.
