Hi lybrate-user. Until the tooth involved is treated the pain will remain. We need to treat the cause of your pain. Taking painkillers is only a temporary solution which as you have rightly said provide 4-5 hours of relief I do not recommended prolonged use of pain killers as they may lead to gastric irritation which will only increase your problems. Get treated by a dentist at the earliest.

Commonest misconception about dental extraction:- Getting your teeth removed, worsens your eyesight. Fact - There is no co-relation between dental extraction and eyesight. Just think once, if this misconception was correct, then all the people who underwent dental extraction would have turned blind and all the people who wear spectacles, would have undergone dental extraction. Both the things are totally untrue. So please spread the word to your friends and remove this misconception from our society.

Hi its because of decay in your tooth. You have a infection in your tooth that can only go away if you get it treated otherwise the infection will increase. You can take ketorol dt one in the morning and one in the night. But its just for temporary relief. Medications dont solve the problem in dental pains. Only procedures and treatment can help you out. Go see a dentist right away.

I am 24 year old male having protruded teeth. As teeth were protruded, I was not able to close mouth normally, So I forced my lips to close which caused my lips portion to increase, I guess. So now I have fuller lips and I am planning to have braces. Is there will be any noticeable change in lips portion. Will it get smaller thinner?

There are a lot of reasons for a swelling to occur 1. If there is a decay and its deep, it can cause a swelling at the roots due to root canal infection 2. It could be because of poor oral hygiene. 3. Infection of the gums 4. If in the wisdom tooth region, i. E. There are many causes of dry mouth. Dry mouth most commonly occurs as a side effect of medications that cause decrease saliva production, including blood pressure medications, antihistamines, antidepressants, diuretics, non steroidal anti-inflammatory, and many others. Other causes of dry mouth are radiation treatments to treat cancerous tumors of the head and neck, salivary gland diseases, diabetes, hormonal imbalance, mouth breathing, sleep apnea, and autoimmune disorders such as sjgren' s syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus. Eating disorders, such as bulimia and anorexia, are other risk factors for developing xerostomia. Salivary production can be decreased if a major salivary duct becomes blocked, such as from a stone or infection. Dry mouth will often occur during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to dehydration and hormonal changes. Other causative factors include stress, anxiety, depression, and dehydration. Please tell me your cause and then we can proceed for the treatment. Meanwhile, restricting caffeine intake and letting ice melt in the mouth will help the mouth remain as moist as possible. Other remedies include medications that help increase salivary flow such as pilocarpine (salagen) and cevimeline (evoxac). Artificial saliva substitutes are alsoa good help for you.

Myth 1: Scaling is not good for teeth

Fact: Scaling removes tartar and keeps teeth and gums healthy. Scaling and deep cleaning of gums prevent the problem of bad breath and bleeding gums. Thus, scaling is beneficial for teeth and gums. One should get professional cleaning done by a dentist with a proper ultrasonic scaler. Also, getting extensive scaling (more than required) done is harmful.

Myth 2: Only sugar causes cavities

Fact: Cavities occur when bacteria produce acids in the mouth. The process can begin by any carbohydrate that you consume. That includes sugar, fruits, vegetables, rice and bread. To reduce chances of tooth decay, one should not only practice good dental care but also limit the intake of acidic products.

Myth 3: Teeth whitening is harmful as it damages enamel

Fact: Technique like zoom whitening works by exfoliating stains from one's teeth to lighten them and bring back their natural colour. It is the simplest and safest procedure as a product is used by dentists that is devoid of bleaching agents and chemicals.

Myth 4: Brushing your bleeding gums is bad

Fact: Brushing is not only good on teeth, but also on your gums and tongue. Brushing these areas helps get rid of plaque which is what causes inflammation and eventually gum disease. One should not brush too hard if they have sensitive gums. One must not use a hard toothbrush on bleeding gums.

Myth 5: Using sugarless chewing gum after meal can replace brushing

Fact: Nothing can replace proper brushing technique. And in case you want to use sugarless chewing gum do not chew it for more than 10 minutes.

Nothing to worry, they are absolutely normal. They are called valate papillae. The circumvallate papillae (or vallate papillae) are dome-shaped structures on the human tongue that vary in number from eight to twelve. They are situated on the surface of the tongue immediately in front of the foramen cecum and sulcus terminalis, forming a row on either side; the two rows run backward and medially, and meet in the midline.
