I have problem of high BP since 1 year & how to control it without taking any medicine?
Non-pharmacological management of hypertension is indicated in individuals who are prehypertensive. Prehypertension is systolic blood pressure between 120 to 139 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure between 80 to 89 mmHg. These patients should be trying with lifestyle modification for at least three moonths before starting medications. Great importance is being given to lifestyle modifications, because of definite benefits observed in patients who follow this. Lifestyle changes have advantages not only in the control of hypertension, but also in the management of dyslipidemia and diabetes. In a prehypertensive individual, the following things have to be taken care of: 1) Tobacco: While the major effects of tobacco are in the development of atherosclerotic heart disease, its role in the management of hypertension cannot be forgotten. The pressure effect of tobacco is so strong that the blood pressure comes down immediately after stoppage of smoking. Tobacco is one of the agents that induce clustering of risk factors. 2) Body weight: Lowering of excess body weight can lower blood pressure. In one of the studies, it was found that decrease of 1 kg of body weight is associated with an average fall of 1.6 mmHg. Indeed, in many instances, it would be possible to discontinue medications after effective weight control. 3) Dietary Sodium: Restriction of dietary sodium is one of the most useful methods of controlling hypertension. This fact should be emphasized, because of the increasing use of fast foods, which have high salt content. It is admitted that it cannot be achieved easily. Norman Kaplan, a renowned cardiologist, gives the following practical suggestions. Do not add salt during cooking or at the table. Sodium consumption should be less than 1500 mg per day, an average individual consumes 8 to 10 times more sodium than required. If salt is desired, add half sodium and half potassium chloride preparations. Avoid fast foods. Be careful about the sodium content of some medications and specifically read the labels indicating sodium content in your food. 4) Alcohol: Alcohol consumption of more than 30 mL of ethanol is found to increase blood pressure. Hence, moderation is recommended. One of the major hazards of drinking is the usual associated consumption of high salt savories, which is an unseen source of salt. Instead, use less salted food. 5) Exercise: Regular physical exercise has been found to induce reduction in blood pressure. Strenuous exercise should be done 45 minutes a day.

Dear docters, I faced acute heart attack 41 year old man, at 4th january 2015. Single vessel coronary diseases, one 100% blockage and done angioplasty and plant one stranded stent, lv diastolic dysfunction present, impaired left ventricular systolic function, right bundle branch block and present ef level is 36%, bp 70/100, heart rate resting between 73-82), height 5.8 inches and weight 73 kg, not sugar patient, regular 35 min not feel short birth, rest of all normal. Can I take in standard quantity and dosage for good health and life extension, it really support all nutrition? if anything you want add some valuable advice regarding food supplement and nutrition or anything else. Kindly guide us we really require your expert advice and comments. Thanks you all.

Yes you can take all of them if you can afford them. But, starting from coq10 and all the other supplements that you mentioned, none of them have been proven scientifically to be of any practical use in humans. If at all, they will make only a miniscule difference to overall health. Finally, you can use them but never at the expense of the important medications such as ecosprin. Many people with this sort of fear start thinking irrationally and end up taking supplements and stopping medications because they think that medications cause side effects and supplements do not. But, please remember that it is the medications that are keeping you alive and making you better, never the supplements.

What does thread mill test show I took an echo scan should I take a thread mill test if my echo scan is normal.

Both are different things. If you have ecg changes or chest pain & echo is normal, we need to run tmt to confirm anginal pain and if it is positive, go for angiography to check blockage in coronary circulation.

It will take some effort for you to flatten your tummy. I am outlining a 21 day plan for you. If you follow this plan sincerely then you will see a noticeable difference in just 21 days. There are 5 things that you need to do: 1. Eliminate all refined sugars from your diet. This means no sugar in your tea/coffee/milk, no consumption of sugary beverages like coke, pepsi and total elimination of all snacks like biscuits, cakes, sweet dishes. I know it is difficult but remember that you just have to adhere to this for 21 days. If you wish to snack you can have unsalted peanuts, dry fruits, seeds or yogurt. 2. When you get up in the morning, put your pillow aside and lie with your back straight. Put both your legs together and lift them so your legs are at a 30 degree angle with the bed. Maintain this pose of 5 minutes. Keep breathing while your legs are in the air. 3. Eliminate dinner altogether. In place of dinner have a bowl of papaya. You can have a small bowl of yogurt with black salt if you are not able to control your urge. 4. Keep hydrated through out the day. You need to drink at least 10 glasses of water every day. Tea/coffee are not substitutes of water. Minimize consumption of milk. Add raw vegetables to each meal. 5. One 500 mg tablet of calcium d-glucarate and one tablet of b-complex every day. If you miss even one of the steps mentioned above during your 21 day regime then you have to start all over again from day 1. Please bear in mind that it takes 21 consecutive days of performing all the above mentioned steps for the stomach muscles to start toning up.

Hi lybrate-user! I am really sorry to hear this from you, but what to do everything is over, you have to keep going on and on right, at least till when you are capable of earning you need to work, whether you like that job or not, you have got to save some amount for your future, if you have saved enough then, not a problem, but if you haven't sufficient, then definitely you need to. Try to make some good friends, when you are sure enough that they are really worthy then you can share your emotions, I do not know if you have brothers or sisters talk to them if you have, you will get some relief. Spend some time in temple, In office also you can chant God name, if you feel you are aloof, so that you can perform your job as well and you can feel relaxed, just to overcome this. There is an option if you are interested you can spend some time with old age homes, do something for them, spending time there, keep yourself busy as much as you can, this will really help you overcome this problem. Take care. Be Strong enough and face situations of loneliness into socializing. With regards, Psy. MSV.
