I am 45 years housewife, tell me for refilling and excavation and cleaning if i go to st.George hospital a govt. Run which is not so tidy but still can i go for treatment and is it safe to go?

Should be ok. But if you can afford it a private clinic is better. Anywhere you go it is your right to see and make sure instruments are clean, fresh, sterilised (autoclaved) and process/equipment used for the same being followed at the clinics.

Hello Lybrate user, the good news is that healthy teeth can be moved at any age hence Orthodontic treatment (braces) can be done even at this age provided you have healthy periodontium. You are never too old to benefit from Orthodontic treatment. Visit an Orthodontist to discuss further.

Dental Emergency

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Accidents happen, and knowing what to do when one occurs can mean the difference between saving and losing a tooth.
Here are some tips for common dental emergencies:

• For a knocked-out permanent or adult tooth, keep it moist at all times. If you can, try placing the tooth back in the socket without touching the root. If that’s not possible, place it in between your cheek and gums, in milk, or water. Then, get to your dentist’s clinic right away.

• For a cracked tooth, immediately rinse the mouth with warm water to clean the area. Put cold compresses on the face to keep any swelling down
.
• If you bite your tongue or lip, clean the area gently with water and apply a cold compress.

• For toothaches, rinse the mouth with warm water to clean it out. Gently use dental floss to remove any food caught between the teeth.

• For objects stuck in the mouth, try to gently remove with floss but do not try to remove it with sharp or pointed instruments.

When you have a dental emergency, it’s important to visit your dentist or an hospital as soon as possible.

Here are some simple precautions you can take to avoid accident and injury to the teeth:
• Wear a mouthguard when participating in sports or recreational activities.

• Avoid chewing ice, popcorn kernels, beetle nut ( supari ) and hard candy, all of which can crack a tooth.

• Use scissors, NEVER your teeth, to cut things.

Most dentists reserve time in their daily schedules for emergency patients. Call your dentist and provide as much detail as possible about your condition.

In some cases, RCT takes as long as 3 hours. So it is always good to have your fill before going for the treatment.

Good evening , it is important that you should not delay the same and urgently have a good dental check up by a good dental surgeon specialist. Do take a second opinion by an ENT or a cancer specialist. The may decide to conduct some tests or investigations - if it comes negative we will be one of the happiest people celebrating your good results.

Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months. Changing the toothbrush alone donot keeps your teeth clean. All toothpaste have nearly similar ingredients like Abrasives, Fluorides, Surfactants, Antibacterial agents, Flavourants, Remineralizers, Fluoride, Diethylene glycol, Triclosan etc. Only the wrong brushing technique that we follow harms our teeth and gums. So consult your dentist, learn proper brushing technique, Brush your teeth twice a day, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush to protect your teeth and gums from plaque and calculus. Floss your teeth inter dentally once a day. Consume a healthy diet rich in vegetables and lean protein. Reduce your intake of sugary foods and beverages. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Drink plenty of fluoridated tap water. Drink not consume alcohol drinks. Don’t smoke.

Maxilla is a part of the skull bones. Alone, this bone cannot move forwards or backwards unless fractured like during intentional surgery. If you feel any problem with the appearance of your maxilla, you can consult a dentist, preferably an orthodontist who will advise you a series of xrays: like lateralcephalogram and then can comment on the status of the bone.
