All about depression

Depression is a major public health problem as a leading predictor of functional disability and mortality.
Optimal depression treatment improves outcome for most patients.
Most adults with clinical significant depression never see a mental health professional but they often see a primary care physician.
A non?psychiatric physician 50% of times misses the diagnosis of the depression.
All depressed patients must be enquired specifically about suicidal ideations.
Suicidal ideation is a medical emergency
Risk factors for suicide are psychiatric known disorders, medical illness, prior history of suicidal attempts or family history of attempted suicide.
The demographic reasons include older age, male gender, marital status (widowed or separated) and living alone.
About 1 million people commit suicide every year globally.
Around 79% of patients who commit suicide contact their primary care provider in the last one year before their death and only one-third contact their mental health service provider.
Twice as many suicidal victims had contacted their primary care provider as against the mental health provider in the last month before suicide.
Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death worldwide and accounts for 1.2% of all deaths.
The suicide rate in the US is 10.5 per 100,000 people.
In the US, suicide is increasing in middle aged adults.
There are 10?40 non?fatal suicide attempts for every one completed suicide.
The majority of suicides completed in US are accomplished with fire arm (57%), the second leading method of suicide in US is hanging for men and poisoning in women.
Patients with prior history of attempted suicide are 5?6 times more likely to make another attempt.
Fifty percent of successful victims have made prior attempts.
One of every 100 suicidal attempt survivors will die by suicide within one year of the first attempt.
The risk of suicide increases with increase in age; however, young adults and adolescents attempt suicide more than the older.
Females attempt suicide more frequently than males but males are successful three times more often.
The highest suicidal rate is amongst those individuals who are unmarried followed by those who are widowed, separated, divorced, married without children and married with children in descending order.
Living alone increases the risk of suicide.
Unemployed and unskilled patients are at higher risk of suicide than those who are employed.
A recent sense of failure may lead to higher risk.
Clinicians are at higher risk of suicide.
The suicidal rate in male clinicians is 1.41 and in female clinicians it is 2.27.
Adverse childhood abuse and adverse childhood experiences increase the risk of suicidal attempts.
The first step in evaluating suicidal risk is to determine presence of suicidal thoughts including their concerns and duration.
Management of suicidal individual includes reducing mortality risk, underlying factors and monitoring and follow up.
Major risk for suicidal attempts is in psychiatric disorder, hopelessness and prior suicidal attempts or threats.
High impulsivity or alcohol or other substance abuse increase the risk.

Alopecia is a progressive disease and can not be controlled by medicines only. I would advise you to do pranayam daily, sheershashan and exercise to improve blood circulation levels in your body.

To control or maintan BP normal there are some instructions are given below: •Do not take salt in high amount or try to avoid it because high sodium level increase BP. • Eat less amount of pickle and fast food, fast food contain high sodium. • Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking. • Take less amount of coffee and tea both increase BP. • Drink 8 to 10 glass of water daily • Do exercise daily, running and long walk. • Take 6 to 8 hrs of sleep daily. Do not take too much stress. • Do long breathing pranayams daily for 10 - 15 minutes. It will reduce your stress level in your body. • Avoid taking too much fat foods such as butter, cheese, ghee. • Eat healthy diet such as green leafy vegetables, fruits. Eat an apple daily.

Go for whole-grain breads, cereals, and pastas. Cereal fibers generally have cell walls that resist digestion and retain water within the cellular structures. Wheat bran can be highly effective as a natural laxative.Eat plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and legumes such as beans and lentils. The fiber found in citrus fruits and legumes stimulate the growth of colonic flora, which increases the stool weight and the amount of bacteria in the stool. Encouraging the growth of certain bacteria in the colon may help promote a healthy intestine.

I work night shifts- 5: 30 pm to 2: 30 am. I have been working nights for over 5 years. After work I travel home which takes 1 hr approx. After reaching home I eat light snack and then I do light work out like brisk walking, jogging and stretching exercises. I am in bed by 6 am. I wake up at 2: 30 pm and I feel tired as though I have not slept. I fight my self at work to stay awake. On my day off, I would wake up bg 3: 30 pm and by 6 pm I am completely exhausted and sleepy. Do I I have a problem.

You may apply raw amla paste in your hair twice a week for two hours and wash your hair with mild shampoo. If you are colouring your hair then avoid it.

Beard is purely genetic make up. It could be a pituitary issue, hair follicle or their lack of, or could possible even be genetics. To make hair grow you need to stimulate, moisturize, and cleanse. Use a soft bristle scrub brush for the face and use circular motions using a eucalyptus, menthol, and/or peppermint type cleanser or lotion. The invigoration of the brush and cleanser/moisturizer will wake up that hair follicles and gives them a signal to produce. Make a mixture of Argan oil, Jojoba oil, sesame oil and olive oil and massage your beard and moustache daily to grow and maintain black and smooth hair.

It is not uncommon for us to feel sleepy at work every once in a while. You need to get an important assignment done, but all that you want to do is curl up and take a nap. We all have our days of drowsiness. But when it becomes a daily habit and begins to interfere with productivity, it is a cause for concern. Chronic fatigue and drowsiness can almost always be traced back to underlying medical conditions, such as low blood sugar levels or depression. There are many simple remedies for this issue that you can resort to, if you wish to kick off your work days with a bang.

Here are a few tips for those days when you just can’t seem to make it through work:

  1. Meditate: A few minutes of meditation before work in the morning can effectively make you more alert and engaged for the rest of the day. The point of meditation is not only to bring calmness and relaxation into your life but also to make you more mindful and active. Be sure to be sitting upright and breathing properly while you meditate.
  2. Eat right: Having poor eating habits could be making you drowsy at work. It is important that you eat just the right quantity of food for every meal because overeating will surely make you sleepy and lethargic. Avoid oily and rich foods and eat just as much as you need.
  3. Sleep well: Your night time sleeping habits are probably at the root of your day time drowsiness. Staying up late or not getting undisturbed sleep can leave you feeling agonizingly exhausted at work. It is of utmost importance that you get enough sleep every night.
  4. Peppermint it: Peppermint is a natural stimulant and will surely leave you feeling fresh in the morning. Brush your teeth with peppermint toothpaste and sip on a cup of peppermint tea in the morning to knock the drowsiness right out of yourself.
  5. Move around: When you feel sleepy, your first impulse is to take a nap. But often the solution to that problem is to engage in physical activity. Pace around and do some stretching exercises in the morning to get your blood circulating and you will be amazed at how refreshed you feel.

what is the size of black spots? if the are age spots then they are harmless and don't need treatment. For cosmetic reasons, age spots can be lightened with skin-bleaching products or removed using laser. However, preventing age spots by avoiding the sun and using sunscreen may be the easiest way to maintain your skin's youthful appearance. Do reply back for medication prescriptions. Shampoo will not help to control the hair fall. The function of shampoo is to clean the scalp. It is important to do shampooing 3/week. There are various reasons for hair fall. Nutritional deficiency, stress, thyroid, diabetes, acute illness like malaria, typhoid are few reasons for hair fall. It is important to understand the reasons and then treat it. Consult trichologist.

Dear to decrease your weight you have to do work out daily. Try the remedies below they can help u. 1. Mix three teaspoons of lemon juice, one teaspoon of honey, in one glass of water. 2. Drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. 4.Drink mint tea or make a paste of green mint with some simple spices and eat during meals. 5. Hello, take Natrum phos 6x, 5 tabs thrice daily before meals and BC No. 25, 5 tabs thrice daily after meals for gastric problem. Avoid oily, spicy food and outside food and drink plenty of water. if the pain persists then go for an ultrasound abdomen test. Take care.
