Stiffness & pain in back & other joints is quite a common condition. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do reply back for private consultation and detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

With increase in age vata dosha is predominant in human body that is why with aging disease caused by vata dosha increases in body. Joint pain is a common symptom with many possible causes. Joint Pain and Arthritis are the one of the most devastating conditions faced by individuals, particularly elderly women today. When there is pure Vata dosha involvement (a pain without swelling or discoloration) then the massage with medicated ayurvedic oil is quite useful & supplement is helpful in balancing bodily humors ?vata, which is responsible dosha for Sandhigata vata.

Suddenly pain has started in my tail bone area from last 3 days. Particularly while changing posture I. E sitting, getting up, lifting legs, changing posture while sleeping, getting into the car.

Requires detailed examination & investigations. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid, vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful. Use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomentation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Bio d3 max 1 tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that the patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that patient is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5 days, inform.

I had low back surgery in 2005. The gait became ackward in 2014. Developed foot drop left foot in feb 2015. Feel muscle fatigue thighs and legs. Please advise.

Do learn and practise under guidance from neuro physiotherapist of stretching and strengthening exercises it doesn't increase with gym exercises if it is done under supervision best wishes.

Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings.

1. Go for fasting once a week. You can go for absolute fasting or rely on a liquid diet to digest ama (toxin). Fasting should be followed by hot fomentation or by taking a bath with lukewarm water or steam bath. 2. After fasting and fomentation, mix powdered long pepper, black pepper and dried ginger in equal quantities and take 1 teaspoon of this powdered mix with lukewarm water twice a day. This will help you restore your digestive fire. 3. Take one tablespoon of castor oil before going to bed, once or twice a week. It helps in cleansing ama (toxin) build up and balancing vata. 4. Mix equal quantities of powdered fenugreek seeds, turmeric and ginger powder. Take one teaspoon daily in the morning and evening. 5. For dry fomentation of the affected joints, take a cloth and fold it into four, fill it with hot and sand make a potli (bag) out of it. Use this bundle for the fomentation of different joints. This is very helpful in reducing pain and swelling.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. My initial advise will be to get yourself examined by a general surgeon or a urologist for testicular pain because there are some causes which we need to rule out. About your back pain with associated leg pain, I can advise that stop your weight lifting for some time till your pain subsides, intensive physical therapy in form of tens as a modality, you can start with neuropathic medications, gentle anti inflammatory medication, but first priority is to get an opinion from a general surgeon and then you can come back to me. Hi, as pain have started after child birth (presuming its to be normal delivery. You should know that during pregnancy, the body releases a hormone that relaxes the joints and ligaments in pelvis to make it easier delivery. Unfortunately, this instability also increases the risk of inflammation and joint misalignment, which can lead to lower back pain with time. The physical stress of parenting or caring for infants and young children can impart tremendous biomechanical strain. Daily repetitive stress from tasks that require lifting the child or infant can compromises spinal integrity. Repetitive injury to the disc, joints, muscles and ligaments of the spine can result from chronic lifting, twisting and poor posture. I suggest she should get precautionary mri done or other investigation to check for any other injury (like disc prolapse or infection or v. Prolapse). Check with gynecologist, orthopedician or physiotherapist. Advice: 1) to relieve pain suggest hot pack, ift and swd for 10 days. 2) specific pelvic floor and back core muscle exercise regime after complete assessment. Pointers: 1) she should avoid lifting heavy object 2) be posture aware, while doing daily routine work. 3) avoid staying in position for long time like avoid continuous standing or sitting. Thanks.

I am a guy of 26 years old. I used to play many outdoor sports. I had an ankle sprain while playing football. I got an advice from doctor to put half plaster and be on crutches for 3 weeks as there was some ligament tear. I used it for 3 weeks. There is no pain in my ankle after that. But little bit of swelling is still there even after 3 months. Why is it so?

Dear Stanly, Because you had ligament tear you need to be cautious throughout your life to avoid any high impact weight bearing activites like jumping, running otherwisw it will precipitate and aggravate your pain. Swelling around your ankle means inflammation and for that you can go for some rest of the ankle joint, ice massage and you can use crepe bandage for some time to immobilise the joint. can keep you ankle in elevated position while sleeping or while resting.
