My face skin is not so tight and have double chin also. My name is raj and my age is 30 please suggest me proper medicines.

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Hye, thanks for the query. The extra layer of fatty tissue under our chins is most often caused by being overweight. Sagging skin under the chin can also occur as we age and our skin loses elasticity. For a few, it can be genetic. While there are surgical procedures that can eliminate a double chin, there are also many simple home treatment options to get rid of a double chin. Firstly reduce excess weight with proper diet and exercise. To get rid of a double chin, it is essential to keep your facial muscles toned and give the muscles in your jaw line a workout. One of the best ways to do that is to chew sugarless gum. Sugar free chewing gum can even help you maintain healthy teeth and gums. You can also chew on raw vegetables like carrots. Massage with cocoa butter or coconut oil or ghee or wheat germ oil or glycerin regularly, it will improve the elasticity of your skin and help get rid of your double chin. Try some chin exercises chin exercises can help stretch and tone your face, neck, and jaw muscles, thereby helping you get rid of your double chin. They will also strengthen your chin and neck muscles and relieve stiffness. While keeping your spine erect, slowly tilt your head back until you are looking at the ceiling and then pucker up your lips in a pout. Hold this position for five counts and then release. Repeat 5 to 10 times in a row. Do this daily at least for a few weeks. Another exercise involves gently turning your head clockwise and then anticlockwise, keeping your spine straight all the while. Do 5 to 10 repetitions of this exercise, about three times a day for several weeks. You can do these exercises while sitting or standing but make sure to keep your spine erect.

I am 30 years old and I am facing hair fall problem. From the roots the hair is falling and day by day its becoming thin.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi. Let me tell you about hairfall. In layman's language, hairfall can be divided into 2 types - temporary hairfall and permanent which is called 'Hairloss' rather and leads to bald areas of smooth and shiny surface. In temporary hairfall, hair grows back again from the same hair root, but in case of permanent hairloss, because of formation of DHT (Di- Hydro -Testosterone) around hair root it gets choked up which subsequently affects the blood supply to the hair and thus hair root is lost forever. Many factors are responsible formation of this DHT or hairloss- hereditary, post-illness/ ailment, post-delivery, post- chemotherapy, nutritional deficiencies, hormaonal imbalance, insufficient sleep, sudden loss of weight, stress/ tensions/ excessive anger any other underlying diseases, etc. Take diet rich in protein like non-veg., eggs, pulses, legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. walnut and almonds), iron-rich food like green vegetables, also take flaxseeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) Avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you FIT and YOUNG!! Take homoeopathic Rx - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200/ twice a day for 1 month and revert. Also, use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica Hair conditioner as well after every head wash. Apart from this, take Follihair tablets (multivitamin) - 1 tab. daily once for 1 month. (N.B.: With the help of homoeopathic medicines, we can only prevent further progress of the hairloss, means it will get arrests in the present condition in case of progressive baldness. But, in case there are areas of baldness which has gone smooth and shiny, you will have to choose an option of Hair Transplant along with theses medications!). Get your blood tested for (empty stomach) - CBC, S. Iron, S. Folic acid, S. Ferritin, S. Calcium, S. Vitamin D3, S. Vitamin B12. If there is any family history of Thyroid dysfunction, get Thyroid function test done as well.

My father is 60 years old. He has heart problem and sugar but both are maintained with proper medication. But from last month their appetite is reducing day by day from 4 roti to 1-2.He keep saying that I am not hungry I do not know why? Their body also started looking thin and weak. Please help I am very worried about him.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

Mr. Lybrate-user, you have not mentioned his height and weight to find out what is his bmi. Plus it would have been better if you had mentioned his blood glucose (fbs< pp & hba1c%) and bp readings. If a person is of 60 plus, then eating 1 to 2 roti per meal is absolutely fine, unless a person does strenuous exercise or excess physical activity. Sometimes if bllod glucose is not in proper control there is a possibility of the person feeling hungry all the while. Ideally when in control fbs -should be ccloser to 100 mg, pp between 150 to 160 mg hba1c%<7. And bp 130/30 mm hg. So please come back with those details. Thanks.

Glutathione is a magic drug in fairness. Go to your nearest dermatologist and cosmetologist and ask him about glutathione. It can be given in creams, or as tablet or injection. It can give your fair skin as early as 6 weeks. Also use a good sunscreen daily and protect yourself from sun exposure as much as possible. It will also make you fair.

Hello Reader, I am 23 years old and my height is 5.6. I have heard about HGH and somatropin. I am quite healthy and I do not have any allergies. I just have one issue that is my height and I wanna increase my height at least 4 cm at any cost. So I wanna know if I can get any recommendations or any other way or tell me is it safe to take somatropin HGH injections ? Will it work ? Or any other safe please . Thank you.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Height is determined by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Human growth is regulated by somatotropin (human growth hormone) secreted by anterior pituitary gland, which gradually subside after adolescence. Bones grow by contribution of new bone from growth plates at each end of long bones. After adolescence these get ossified & there after no further growth is possible. Thus height of males stops to increase further at the age 18-20. I am sorry, to say that as you are already 23 years old, no further increase in height is possible. Hope, I have answered your query. With good wishes,

My hair is thinning and I'm losing my hair from one side, is it because or male pattern baldness? Or its just regular hair fall, plus please tell me how do I stop hair fall.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Dear lybrate user, hair growth occurs in cycles. Each cycle consists of a long growing phase (anagen), a short transitional phase (catagen) and a short resting phase (telogen). At the end of the resting phase, the hair falls out (exogen) and a new hair starts growing in the follicle beginning the cycle again. Normally, about 40 hairs reach the end of their resting phase each day and fall out. When more than 100 hairs fall out per day, clinical hair loss may occur. Hair loss have many causes such as:- 1) shrinkage of the hair follicles due to the influence of androgenic hormones. 2) under-nutrition of the hair due to fungal infection on the scalp. 3) effects of radio therapy or chemotherapy. 4) nutritional deficiencies. 5) autoimmune diseases. Modes of treatment for hairfall/alopecia includes surgical modes, oral medicine & local external application. The minimum duration of the course of oral medicines & external application is 6 months. You can start the following medications:- 1) take 5 drops of homeopathic sulphur 200, once in a week. 2) take 5 drops of homoeopathic selenium 200 every morning before brushing your teeth. 3) take 4 tablets from biochemic natrum mur 6x tablets, thrice daily. Just chew the tablets as those tablets are sweet in taste. 4) take homoeopathic mother tincture acid phos q, 30 drops, twice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. Kindly note that this medication may not be sufficient enough to take care of your problem. These medicines may need to be complemented by further deep-acting remedies after first month in order to permanently eliminate the underlying cause of the disease. So I would suggest you to consult me privately via lybrate as it is very necessary to diagnose the proper underlying cause of your problem if you are wishing for a permanent relief from your problems. A permanent annihilation of the underlying cause of the disease will not only provide you relief from your troubles but it will also cease any chance of further relapse of that particular disease condition.

Jojoba Oil: The debate is whether jojoba is the king of the carrier oils. Many scalp-related problems are caused by a hardened build-up of sebum that clogs the hair follicles and causes some types of scaling. If this hardened build-up is not removed, it can eventually obstruct the hair follicle’s ability to function properly. Jojoba rapidly penetrates down to the scalp and hair shaft, and readily loosens and dissolves this hardened build-up.
