From last 2,3 weeks. My stools are very hard, even I'm getting pain in anus while excreting. Before that, from my childhood I never faced a problem like. Normally I used to excrete 2 times/day. But now, I'm excreting only once. That to in a painful way. What is the reason behind this? Is this because of hostel food, which is not good?

Dear sir my son age 5 years suffering from nephrotic syndrom from last 2. 5 year what is actual complete treatment ?

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS, FISPN & FISPN - Pediatric Nephrology
Pediatrician, Delhi
Dear , nephrotic syndrome can`t be cured once for all. Its like flu you get it take treatment and it goes away, but as long as it is steroid sensitive it should not harm kidneys. If your baby requires too frequent doses of steroids then steroid sparing agent can be added.

I cant clean my anal area, cause my anus remains little open while cleaning, I have been diagnosed with hemorrhoids. please help me, to tighten it up with medicines or something.

BAMS

Hi, sitting in warm water tub will increase the blood flow towards the pelvic area and thus helps to control piles and constipation. To strengthen the anal sphincter, perform pelvic floor exercises 2-3 times a day for 5-10 mins daily. Even if this doesn't help you, then see a surgeon for surgical intervention.

In February 2016 I started having a bladder infection. Frequent urge to go but very little concentrated urine coming out. There was NO bleeding or pain of any kind. I consumed ayurvedic cystitis syrup and the problem got resolved. The same situation repeated itself in March. I drank syrup and it got cured. But for some few months since May-June now I find my bladder is behaving very strange. It acts perfectly normal during the daytime. I urinate not more than 7-8 times a day. The urine is clear and healthy looking - not concentrated at all. When I am upright (walking/standing/sitting) my urination is not noticeably frequent. But ANYTIME I lie down I feel bladder pressure and an increasing urge to void. The urge to void is frequent. And the urine is actually quite dilute. Even when I drink VERY little water during the day, at night the urine is surprisingly light and dilute. And also it is rather frequent. The trend is very different compared to my cystitis. When I had infection I had to urinate ALL the time, whether sitting down or lying down. Those days very little VERY small amount of urine used to come out. I had to strain to pass urine. Nowadays I am normal when I stand up or walk but when not active and especially lying down I feel the bladder fullness. I urinate a relatively dilute solution without much straining. Some background information: I am an 18 year old girl. I have been physical lethargic and inactive and tired for since around mid-2015 because of a gradual depression. I also suffer from a very mild case of piles since December 2015. It comes on and off - sometimes it's not even recognisable. I did a urine test in June which showed rather normal results. There were no pus cells at all. Absolutely NO foreign bodies or organisms of any kind. The epithelial cell count was 2-4 hpf and the pH was 5. Other than the above mentioned issues I function healthily. Don't have any previously diagnosed condition or abnormality. These health problems of mine have started quite recently - within the past ONE year. Please let me know what are the possible conditions I may be suffering from based on my bladder habits. Thank you.

Dear Doctor, I have undergone Renal Transplant on 3rd. December (ABO Barrier). Could you advice me the diet instructions?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
The first few days after transplant depending on how well your new kidney is working you may need to continue to restrict certain foods for a short time. Your dietitian, or medical team, will let you know if this is necessary. It is important that you try to eat well during this period to help your wound heal. If you are finding it difficult to finish your meals inform the ward staff or the dietitian. What to do when you go home once your kidney is working well you will no longer need to be on a special diet but it is important that you still watch what you eat and have a healthy balanced diet. This is particularly important as your transplant medications can increase your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels. These medications can also weaken your bones so you need to have a good intake of calcium and vitamin d. Continue a low salt diet almost all of us eat too much salt. About 80% of the salt we eat comes from processed foods, fast food, and can noteen and restaurant food. About 10- 15% is added at home and only 5% occurs naturally in food. To reduce your salt intake, you need to use less salt in cooking and at the table, eat more fresh foods and less processed and ready-made foods. Avoid using salt substitutes, for example: lo-salt and so low. Limit fat. Eat more fruit & vegtables fruit and vegetables are the perfect snack food. They are high in fibre, vitamins and minerals and low in fat. Aim to eat 4-5 potions of fruit and vegetables each day. Fresh, frozen, dried or tinned all count! include a wide variety of fruit and vegetables. A small glass of fruit juice (unsweetened) can count as 1 portion each day. Choose fruit tinned in natural juice instead of syrup. Dried fruit contains a lot of sugar and should be consumed in small quantities. Avoid adding salt, butter, oils or rich sauces to vegetables. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice is best avoided if you are taking: cyclosporin (neoral/sandimmum), prograf (tacrolimus) or cholesterol lowering drugs.

Wt a solution of renal stone else surgery wt size stone will be pass out without surgery.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi, with the help of homoeopathic medicines, the renal-stone of 6-7mm or less can be cured without surgery! prevention: prevention of kidney stones may include a combination of lifestyle changes and medications. Lifestyle changes you may reduce your risk of kidney stones if you: drink water throughout the day. For people with a history of kidney stones, drink 12-14 glasses of water everyday. If you live in a hot, dry climate or you exercise frequently, you may need to drink even more water to produce enough urine. If your urine is light and clear, you're likely drinking enough water. 1 eat fewer oxalate-rich foods. If you tend to form calcium oxalate stones, restrict foods rich in oxalates. These include rhubarb, beets, bhindi (okra), spinach, swiss chard, sweet potatoes, nuts, tea, chocolate and soy products. Choose a diet low in salt and animal protein. Reduce the amount of salt you eat and choose non animal protein sources, such as legumes. Consider using a salt substitute. Continue eating calcium-rich foods, but use caution with calcium supplements. Calcium in food doesn't have an effect on your risk of kidney stones. Continue eating calcium-rich foods unless your doctor advises otherwise. Ask your doctor before taking calcium supplements, as these have been linked to increased risk of kidney stones. You may reduce the risk by taking supplements with meals. Diets low in calcium can increase kidney stone formation in some people. Medication: take homoeopathic medicine - berberis vulgaris q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ thrice daily for 4 weeks. Revert me back.

I'm worried because several relatives in my family have had heart attacks. How can I tell if I'm at risk for heart disease? I haven't been sleeping well. Is that a cause for concern? I'm urinating more than usual. Should I be concerned? Tell me the answer.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
Genes do play a role in having a heart attack but aware people are able to reduce risk of getting one by taking care of other factors responsible for heat attacks like 1) stress 2) high cholesterol 3) smoking and exposure to pollution 4) no exercise schedule 5) sedentary lifestyle 6) diabetes with sugar not under control 7) higher levels of bad fats in bad and lower levels of good fats in blood 8) taking everything to heart. Now that you are aware of other factors which are responsible, I am sure taking care of these will reduce the risk of a heart attack despite genetics. Get blood tested for sugar, total lipid profile and get back here with reports. Do take care to reduce other factors like smoking & stress etc.
