I am 37 years old. Height 6 feet. Weight 78 kg. I feel pain in my foot in the morning. It gets okay within 30 minutes or so. I also have a feeling that it pains more when I had intercourse at night. My sugar level and bp level are normal. What should I do?

General Physician (AM)
Alternative Medicine Specialist, Chandigarh
Your foot is made up of 26 bones, 33 joints, and more than 100 tendons. Foot pain has a number of causes that are typically associated with overuse of the bones. You can strain your foot by pounding it on hard surfaces, being overweight, or wearing shoes that do not fit properly. These strains can irritate the foot bones, muscles, or tendons. Rest as much as possible apply ice to the affected part for 10 to 15 minutes twice a day use over-the-counter pain medications. Wear shoes that fit properly wear night splints, a special device that stretches the foot while you sleep use heel cups or shoe inserts to reduce pain. Take an x-ray to determine the cause of your pain, requires detailed questioning so as to ascertain your personality and to treat you symptomatically. Treatment is available, safe and without side effects in biochemic system of medication. Consult me in private.

My mother is suffering from a lot of pain in heels. Our doctor has prescribed an injection whic can have severe side effects. What should I do?

Acupuncturist, Delhi
Dear lybrate user, a few simple changes and precautions at home can help reduce the pain in your heels.Use an ice pack to reduce swelling, inflammation, and pain. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever. Rest your feet by staying off of them as much as possible for a few days when your heels are aching. Exercise your feet. Some good foot flexing and stretches can help stretch out the plantar fascia, and make it feel better. You can get more information about stretching .Adjust your shoes with inserts that raise the heel and support the arch of your foot. please send feed back.

Stiffness of elbow is very common after its dislocation. You should not be moving your elbow so early after the accident as chances of repeat dislocation is high. You can send me a photo of your xrays so that I can take a look. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Regards Dr. Manoj kumar khemani

Lower Back Pain Causes

Lower Back Pain Causes

Over 80% of the population will suffer from lower back pain during their lives. Most cases of lower back pain can be linked to a general cause - such as muscle strain, injury, or overuse - or can be attributed to a specific condition of the spine, most commonly:

- Herniated disc
- Degenerative disc disease
- Spondylolisthesis
- Spinal stenosis
- Osteoarthritis

A number of less common conditions can cause low back pain as well, such as sacroiliac joint dysfunction, spinal tumors, fibromyalgia, and piriformis syndrome.

I am getting back pain since 3 months. 40 days back I took MRI - Lumbosacral spine. MRI findings 1. Mild straightening of the spine noted. 2. Diffuse annular bulge noted at L3-L4 level, indenting on ventral thecal sac. 3. Diffuse annular bulge with focal posterior central protrusion noted at L4 L5 level, indenting on ventral thecal sac. I am taking treatment from Neuro Surgeon from last 3 months. But I didn't get relief from pain. General physician advised that to use lumbar belt. My age is 25. At this age, Can I use belt? Please advise.

BPTh/BPT, MPTh/MPT
Physiotherapist, Gurgaon
Yes you can use belt while traveling & working for long day. Remove belt off & on specially while eating. Straighting of spine means muscle spasm. Please meet a musculoskeletal Physiotherapist to know ergonomic & posture advice. Also take few sessions of Physiotherapy. Change posture every half an hour. Avoid weight lifting.

Hi I am 23 years old female from last 1 year I have lower back pain please suggest me what to do?

Fellowship in Shoulder and Knee Surgeries, DNB (Orthopedics), Diploma In Orthopaedics (D. Ortho), MBBS
Orthopedist, Nagpur
you are young girl, might be college going. Are you moderately built or thin built? Your BMI is alright. Main cause of back pain in your age group is muscle weakness, calcium and vitamin D deficiency or inappropriate posture. Detailed history will give proper diagnosis and treatment accordingly can be advised. You will do fine with some medicines and exercises.

Hello , in back pain, it is very important to strengthen the back and core muscles. Apart from that do proper warm up before exercise and cool down after exercise. Avoid activities which involve lifting heavy weights or twisting of spine. Do exercise in supervision of skilled professional. Take care! wish you healthy life!
