My uncle is diabetic and transplanted his kidney recently, now what are the tips for maintaining rest of his life and what will be his selflife?

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Hello, he should take proper care of his blood sugar so that it is maintained within normal limits. That will help in preventing unnecessary load on the kidney. Strict sugar control, diet control and salt restriction and controlling bp are important. No one can predict about how long one lives.

General Physician,
the tes is to see if he has The MPS Diseases. The Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPSs) are rare genetic disorders in children and adults. They involve an abnormal storage of mucopolysaccharides, caused by the absence of a specific enzyme. Without the enzyme, the breakdown process of mucopolysaccharides is incomplete. Mucopolysaccharidoses are a group of metabolic disorders caused by the absence or malfunctioning of lysosomal enzymes needed to break down molecules called glycosaminoglycans.he age of onset and severity of Mucopolysaccharidosis type II (MPS II) differ depending on the form. Signs of severe MPS II usually begin between ages two and four. The symptoms of Hunter syndrome (MPS II) are generally not apparent at birth, but usually start to become noticeable after the first year of life.Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) and related diseases are genetic lysosomal storage diseases (LSD) caused by the body's inability to produce specific enzymes. Normally, the body uses enzymes to break down and recycle materials in cells.

Too much fluid in your body can be dangerous. It can cause high blood pressure, swelling and heart failure. Extra fluid can also build up around your lungs and make it hard to breathe. If you do need to limit fluids, measure your fluids and drink from small cups to help you keep track of how much you’ve had to drink. Limit sodium to help cut down on thirst. At times, you may still feel thirsty. To help quench your thirst, you might try to: 1. Chew gum 2. Rinse your mouth 3. Suck on a piece of ice, mints or hard candy (Remember to choose sugar-free candy if you have diabetes.)

I have back pain sometime urination is fast sometimes normal nd than I'm afraid with kidney problem but 6 month ago creatine .other test is normal what can I do Dr.

Erasmus Mundus Master in Adapted Physical Activity, MPT, BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Chennai
This is a general low back ache and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try which will help you relax as well will reduce the pain. It looks like you are anaemic. If you have back pain after you sit for long hours then it is due to your haemoglobin levels as it is important to check that. Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having back / leg pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain.

Hi, welcome to lybrate. Com I am happy to answer your queries. In summer season, when the temperature is high, there will be increased sweating and increased water loss. So the amount of water to be excreted by kidneys will be low. So you need to drink more water drink upto 5 litres of water and you will have normal urine output hope you found the answer helpful. If you need any clarification / have doubts / have additional questions / have follow up questions, then please do not hesitate in asking again at lybrate. Com/bruno. I will be happy to answer your questions. Best wishes for speedy recovery let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

My alkaline phosphatase value is 272. But PSA value is 0.42 ng per ml. Urine culture shows e.coli growth and colony count 90000 cfu per ml. Is it anything to be worried?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
The normal range is 44 to 147 IU/L (international units per liter). Normal values may vary slightly from laboratory to laboratory. They also can vary with age and gender. High levels of ALP are normally seen in children undergoing growth spurts and in pregnant women. So nothing to worry For urine you need to take correct antibiotic.

I am 56 years old I am having prostate problem I cant say since how long sometimes I have to frequently go for urine with 1 hour interwal 4-5 times please advise remedy.

Felllow in Endourology, MCh Urology, MRCS, MS, MBBS
Urologist,
Dear, I am sorry to know about your problem. Your symptoms can be caused by enlarged prostate with overactive bladder, urinary retention with overflow, urinary infection, bladder or ureteric stones, tumour of prostate or bladder and some other rare conditions. So it is important to diagnose correctly and start the treatment. I would advise you to get the following tests done: ultrasonogram abdomen with post void residual urine, uroflowmetry, urine microscopy and serum prostate specific antigen (psa) after ruling out urinary infection. It is also important to get your prostate palpated by a urologist to rule out a tumour in prostate. There are good drugs to control the symptoms caused by prostate enlargement and overactive bladder. However, without evaluating with the above basic tests it is not appropriate to start a treatment blindly. Please get back to me with the above report. I will be in a better position to guide you further. Wish you good health

Me and my girlfriend had unprotected sex on the day she was about to have her periods. I didn't ejaculate inside her. After sex she had an emergency contraceptive pill within 24 hours. Its been 4 days now and she is having sever pain in her lower abdomen and she is frequently urinating. What should we do?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Gurgaon
Hi Gokul. The pain is due to high hormone levels in her body now because of the emergency contraceptive pill. Do not worry. She should get her periods soon. The pain and increased urination could also be due to urinary tract infection. Ask her have plenty of water, 2-3 litres a day. Also get a urine culture and sensitivity done to start antibiotic treatment. All the best

I am having stomach pain and also a problem in taking breath. I had consulted Dr. but its not asthma. I am also having a infection in my urine. So please suggest me.

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), MS - Urology, MBBS
Urologist, Ahmedabad
Dear get urine tested. If it shows more than 5 pus cells then you have infection. Then one has to take antibiotics for 15 days and the recheck urine to see pus cells have gone. If recurrent or persistent then try to find out the cause and that cause has to be treated. Drink plenty of fluids.
